For a while now, my readings have been about obeying the Lord, following His commands and the like. I’ve been reflecting on this and have been asking God -- what is it that He wants be to follow or obey. Is there anything I am not seeing or hearing from Him right now..
Today, I was reading Deuteronomy and this verse just resounded to me
“When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.” ~ Deutoronomy 18:9
Wherever God takes us -- new environment, new work, new neighborhood, new friends, new journey -- always shine for Jesus.
Most of the time, when God places us into such circumstances, the initial reaction is to want to fit in, to be accepted by the people, to conform. But I don’t think that is what God would want for us to do, at least not everytime.
Regardless of what or who, we need to continue to shine for Jesus. If there are things, practices that are not pleasing unto the eyes of God, we shouldn’t follow. Instead, we should be the positive (godly) influencers.
If we become popular, by making unpopular decisions, then be it. What matters is we are doing what is popular in the eyes of God. Everytime we do something, we need to ask ourselves -- Are what we are doing a pleasing aroma to the Lord? Are we glorifying His name through these? Are the things we do aligned to God’s heart? Are we becoming more and more like Christ everyday?
Be Set Apart. Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
I believe God has been reminding me about my ways, how I have been behaving the past weeks. I haven’t been exactly pleasing Him with my actions and behavior. With this, please pray with me that -- We may continue to reflect God’s love, grace and glory through our lives. For people to truly see how God has been working in our lives that through us, people would also want to know more about the one and only True and Living God.
