FLOW: Northside Arts Crawl
Updating the 2007 Emerson Ave Mural:
JXTA apprentices in Public Art are honoring women and children as they update the JXTA mural for this year’s FLOW Northside Arts Crawl. The mural, situated adjacent to JXTA’s main building on 2007 Emerson Ave, will embody the themes of liberation and self-determination. This matter stands in conjunction with the themes that FLOW will manifest in the arts crawl. The mural also hopes to embody the work and spirit of Emory Douglass, former Graphics Designer for the Black Panthers, whose work is centered on black liberation and self-determination.
More on FlOW Northside Crawl:
Since 2006, FLOW Northside Arts Crawl has become both a community celebration and premier art event in North Minneapolis. FLOW is a non-juried, self-guided tour of studios, galleries, theaters, commercial vacant spaces over a mile and half of the West Broadway corridor. From b-boys to ballet, graffiti to graphite, rap to rhapsody, fine artist to artisan, practicing to professional, FLOW showcases the great art being made every day on the Northside.
This year, FLOW will take place on July 28-30. We hope to see you there to celebrate!
