time went on but the pain never went away. it dulled, for sure, with san incessantly telling you that you deserved better and the piles of work that were being assigned to you.

but you were also doing everything in your absolute power to ignore seonghwa.

you never lingered before or after homeroom and made sure to never even look in his direction. you drowned out the sound of his voice in class or entire presence when you passed him the hallway. you and san even started to break the school rules and went out for lunch so neither of you had to be reminded of that table.

the one time seonghwa dared come to the cafe, san forced you into the back room and gave his ex friend a piece of his mind. you thought for sure you were gonna have to run out and separate the boys but seonghwa just looked completely…empty and defeated.

it seemed as if he took san’s words to heart, the blonde speaking them so lowly and harshly you still don’t exactly know what he said to this day. you just know that when you and seonghwa’s eyes met through the small glass window, he looked as sad and broken as you felt inside - but for very different reasons.

Seonghwa steps out of the bathroom with a towel in hand and wet strands of hair clinging to his forehead. You glance over at him from your place on the bed, body already showered and bundled up under the layers of blankets and sheets. Seonghwa’s gaze is as soft as his smile as he looks over you. You’re struggling to keep your eyes open though, and if you stay bundled up like this, you’ll fall asleep at any second.

“You look tired,” Seonghwa says as he rubs the towel over his dark hair.

“Do I?” You huff out a small laugh. “I guess I’m more tired than I thought.”

“I went easy on you,” Seonghwa remarks, smile stretching his lips wider. You roll your eyes at his light-hearted comment and pull the sheets up to your chin.

“Okay but you know you can’t keep it from him forever Y/N, he has to know.” Your best friend says.

Letting out a sigh, you nod your head. “I know, I just…I need some more time.”

It wasn’t easy dating Lee Seokmin. In fact, nothing about your relationship was easy. As a member of one of the most feared mafias in all of South Korea, your boyfriend, and his friends had a notorious reputation. It was because of his job that more than often your dates took place at your apartment or his apartment.

However, despite his line of work, Seokmin was a great boyfriend. He treated you like a princess and never allowed you to lift a finger when he was around. Overall, he was the best boyfriend that anyone could have considering the circumstances surrounding your relationship.

You knew Seokmin like the back of your hand. He was willing to do anything for you. And you knew that if the time came, Seokmin would most definitely drop everything to be with you. Even dropping his own brotherhood, the brothers who had saved him from a horrible life on the street (not that being in the mafia wasn’t bad because he did do a lot of dirty work).

Which is why you were really scared to tell him the secret that you had been hiding for a few weeks.

it was a week later, all healthy and really improving with your surfing skills, when seonghwa asked you on a date. it had been completely unexpected and you truthfully thought you misunderstood him at first.

“did you see that!” you squealed, running in from surfing a wave.

it was still a fairly small accomplishment opposed to what you’ve seen him and his friends do over the past few days, watching shyly from your spot with your aunt and simply waving at them when they pass by.

but you’re just excited that you’re no longer plummeting into the water with an embarrassing splash; and apparently so is seonghwa, watching you with an amused smirk.

but you could only hear that snide voice in your head telling you to stay out of the way and that she doesn’t want you there. and like always, that voice in your head won and you waved goodbye to your aunt as she pulled out of the driveway.

and then instead of going inside like you should’ve, your feet took you back to the spot you came to just a few nights ago. because even though you’d be eating alone and didn’t particularly want to talk to anyone, you’d find comfort in the other bodies around you opposed to an empty house.

this had been the topic of conversation for the past 20 minutes, the woman beside you old enough to be your mother sporting a pink bikini with large sunglasses and a floppy sun hat.

you can’t even lie in saying your eyes widened upon seeing her walk through the front door this morning, not because she looked awful but because it’s an…odd choice for a woman of her age.

“she’s too nice to say you look like an absolute fool,” your aunt says, the annoyance and disgust in her tone causing you to suppress a giggle. “now help me with these chairs.”

you listen to the women banter back and forth as you three make your way down to the beach, the late morning sun warming your skin as the crashing waves come into view. it’s the sounds you woke to this morning, your open window welcoming the salty breeze and squawking of seagulls.

it’s such a difference to the way you’re usually woken up, screams from your mother or your father’s fist slamming on your door that immediately fills the pit of your stomach with dread and anxiety. it’s an exhausting thing to live that way, constantly on edge and fearful that one tiny thing is gonna set someone off.

A/N: well here it is! the big reveal! I will be posting a short thing probably explaining the end of this and the backstory of the Seokjins family a little more as well as a collection of all of the bits that foreshadowed the ending of this chapter! This is the second to last part! and the next part will probably be just as long as this and won’t be posted for a little while.

- Yoongi is flying back when it happens and almost falters. Dipping in the air as the wind goes out from underneath his wings and a stabbing pain lights just underneath his heart. After being with his mate for so long it almost feels like he’s the one who was hurt not you.

- It only knocks him out of the sky for a second before he’s righting himself in the air. And the panic takes hold- suddenly sure that something is wrong- terribly earth tilting wrong. He summons all the strength he has in him and hurls himself through the sky as quick as he can. Yoongi has never flown faster in his life.

- Jungkook is only a kid, he can’t keep you alive. You’d only just begun to teach him how to heal. Even as Hoseok shifts back to human form- the attacker who stabbed you quickly dispatched by his teeth. Somehow Jungkook’s red scarf ends up pressed to your wound, pressing down on it with all of his weight.

- “That’s good Koo- just like that.” you gently instruct. You’re barely alive by the time that Yoongi gets back, your breathing heavy and labored. Though Jungkook has bound around the wound, you’re half-conscious. Yoongi swoops in, shifting just in time to hurl himself through the front door cracking part of the frame with his shoulders.

- He’s steely, even as his hands shake when he touches your pale face. You pass out with Yoongi’s name on your tongue- staying awake just long enough to see that he’s here, that your children have him to protect them, before a tidal wave of pain pulls you under. Yoongi takes one look around at the house, the dead men- feeling horror well up in him. Their place of safety, of softness and love, violated like this.

- He can hear and smell the ones that remain in the woods, the sluggish pull of their heartbeats as they die. And he knows the hairs on the backs of their necks are standing up as his anger grows. His fingers are black-tipped claws by his side- unable to resist the semi-shift- aching to sink into the rage that demands the world to sate it. Yoongi cannot and will not let this go unpunished.

- But you’re still there dying on the floor, and the choice is easy. (When it comes down to it- Yoongi will always choose you) For you Yoongi will easily surrender this revenge. Somewhere in the house Yoongi smells fire. But he doesn’t care burn it all to the ground. Every happy memory with it too- everything. If it all ends like this- Yoongi can’t bear it.

- But he needs too- for the two small faces that he loves more than anything in the world- looking at him like he holds all the answers. Hoseok’s face is wet with tears and blood when he tilts his face up, blinking them away furiously. His voice shakes when he instructs them. “Jungkook I’m going to shift and then you and Hobi are going to put her on my back and fly with me” he touches Jungkook’s arm and Jungkook turns his tear-filled eyes to his father

- “I need you to be strong fledgling, I need you to hold her there and make sure she doesn’t fall off when we fly because tying her in will take too much time.” Yoongi touches Hoseok’s face- wiping away the blood on his mouth with a thumb. “Hoseok- this will be a long flight so keep up just above me so I can break the wind for you.”

- “If you can’t I’m going to-“ Hoseok squares his little shoulders, he’s only 15- and yet he meets Yoongi’s gaze, his resolve steely as he pushes himself up, nodding. “if I lose you don’t worry I’ll catch up. I can follow your scent. If I fall back keep going.”

A/N: So I have ABSOLUTELY no idea where I’m going with this. I got the inspiration from reading other hyrid au’s here and just starting writing. I haven’t written outside of school in years, so it might be a bit messy or not make a lot of sense. For nearly a month these were the only thoughts swirling your mind. Keep moving. Find food. Keep moving. Rest. Keep moving. You only realized how long you’d been free from your master when the night air started to chill with the changing seasons. You wanted desperately to stop, to just rest. Eat until you were full and sleep for more than an hour. But you couldn’t risk it.

It was pure miracle that you had escaped at all. For five years he had treated you cruelly. He had bought you from a hybrid trader, who had stolen you from a breeder. You remembered the day he bought you, wearing a mask of kindness, promising a loving warm home. As soon as the door shut behind you in his home, you knew it would not be what you so naively dreamed of. He only wanted a trophy. A rare hybrid to parade around his rich friends when he hosted large events. Keeping you in the barely lit, barely warm basement when there was no one around to boast too.

A month ago you finally found your chance to escape. He was drunk. A business venture of his had fallen through and he was angry. So he came down to the basement, forgetting to lock the door behind him as he always had before. He wanted to hurt you, to take out his anger on you, this time in a way he never had before.

Faintly hearing your mother’s voice outside your door as your eyes darted for the clock, nearly two in the afternoon, your ears perked with curiosity. She was talking to Yukhei—you only knew because she addressed him by name. They were just making small talk, but your breath still hitched in your throat. After last night, and after the intoxication had left your system, you came to the unsettling realization of the potential for mischief last night.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Sleepiness thrown to the side, he inspected you. The basket you had held onto was gone and now the only thing you were holding onto was the cape wrapped behind your back, clutching it as if your life depended on it. You didn’t look physically hurt anywhere but you were shaking with fear.

And someone was going to pay for making you that way.

“It’s Jinyoung,” you whimpered, squeezing your eyes shut and allowing the tears to fall but you quickly wiped them away. “I saw him,” you said, “he saw me.”
