He laughs and hides his face jokingly. “Let’s hope not,” he laughs as he flashes a smile back. He really liked Luda’s playful attitude. It made this feel normal. 

He smiles as he sees Umbreon and Keiki play. He had never really had a friend as a kid apart from his Pokemon. SO it made him glad to see his Pokemon making other friends. 

He smiles and takes the ice cream. He holds them both carefully as they walked to a table. “I rarely eat out like this with people, so if is pretty nice,” he states sheepishly. He takes a bite of the ice cream sand witch and offers the cup of ice cream to Umbreon. “She seems pampered”.

“Watch, you will end up running away from a crowd of fangirls one day.” Luda said as she laughed a bit. “Hopefully they aren’t crazy though, my cousin runs into over-dedicated fans sometimes. He has to hide in a cafe restroom sometimes.”

The coordinator smiles at the other and nods. “She is. Well all of my pokemon are. Their cute faces make it hard not to spoil them but they share pretty well.” The sylveon agreed with a hum and signaled the Umbreon to taste her ice cream. “Is it okay if I let out the whole team?” Luda said putting down her bag. “I think it’ll be nice if they could all be friends with Umbreon.

He chuckles at here idea. He had never thought of it, considering most of the shows he was in their were America centric. “I doubt it, I was rarely in big ones,” he said rather sheepishly. 

He laughs as he sees Umbreon poke Kikei with it’s nose in confusion. He laughs at his Pokemon’s antics before turning back to Luda. “Well I suppose then we should hope they don’t forget, as well as make the mystery of the whole show very hard to figure out,” he says jokingly. 

Junho thought for a moment, unsure what to get for himself. After a minute, he steps forward and orders. “Can I have one Ice cream sandwich and one scoop of cotton candy ice cream please”?

“What if you run into an American drama fanatic? They’ll probably notice you right off the bat!” Luda said and flashed a smile. “Don’t think like that! Your experiences in America might get you high up there!”

Keiki and Umbreon kept playing around with each other. It seemed like the two had gotten very close in the amount of time that they shared. It felt like she was watching the replay of how she met her first friends in elementary school.

When their ice cream came out, the coordinator couldn’t keep her excitement to herself, “This is so nice! I haven’t done this in a while. It’s usually just me and my pokemon but having a friends being with us makes it taste better.” They walked around a bit to find a table and once they had found it her ice cream had started to melt. “Well at least Keiki’s isn’t  melting fast, she would have made me buy another.” Luda laughed as she held out her arm so that the pokemon can eat.

She laughs a bit as she hears what her friend said. Jihyo knew that feeling of wanting to eat when working, it happened a lot to her at her gym. “I bet, this was important to her too you know,” she teases as she see’s the other’s Pokemon reprimand her trainer. Bora coos and pets the fairy type. 

Jihyo sits with Bora next to her as they find a spot. She looks at the menu closely, as while she could enjoy anything, her Pokemon could not eat certain types of food. Their were some options, but she was not sure what would be good for them or her. 

Jihyo looked up at Luda a few moments after she spoke to her. “Tofu sounds good to me put I may just get seaweed soup as me and all my Pokemon can eat,” she says somewhat unsure. Jihyo flipped the menu over and groans. “I know, seriously”!

“We should just eat everything!” Luda said and tapped on the menu in frustration. “Okay, hm... maybe we could ask them to get us a big pot of soup so we can all share it.” The coordinator thought since they were all going to be together, sharing could save some money. “I’ll take care of dessert so don’t worry about that section.”

The coordinator studied the menu like it was a textbook, she wanted to make the right choice of food since she wanted to make sure her pokemon eat before they spend the night at the hotel. “So, we can get the seaweed soup for all of us and then if you want to share the tofu between the two of us we can do that.”

She tilted her head and waited on the other to give the ‘call the waiter’ look. “Or we could probably ask the people who work here about their food. Maybe that will help up make up her minds.” The coordinator called over one of the waiters and asked. His reply of ‘Everything is good here for your pokemon, I eat almost everything off of the menu!’ didn’t really help.

      it’s a sheepish smile that overtakes his face when she confesses that she’s glad he hadn’t said thirteen. honestly, he doesn’t think he would have ever guessed that low – he’s still of the mindset that most trainers and coordinators don’t start out until they’re fourteen or fifteen at the earliest, the long hours and time spent away from home usually too much for children. he’d been an oddball, indeed. 

     “aramis and i?” he repeats with an arched eyebrow, and his lips curve up at the corners, his expression distinctly fond as he glances down at the espeon. “she’s been with me since i was four. i’m twenty-one now, so… seventeen years.” he muses as he stares at his espeon with an immensely impressed look. “i never… really thought about it that way, honestly. that aramis is seventeen…” 

     “my parents are breeders,” he explains with a small smile. “so when i turned four, they gave me an egg. i had no idea what it was, or what was in it, but they told me to take good care of it and love it as much as i could. to my four year old self, that must have made sense, because i distinctly remember aramis hatching. she was just an eevee, a little brown ball of fluff, and i already loved her so much.” he scratches at the back of his head sheepishly. “anyways, what about you and keiki?”

luda’s eyes widened as she nodded. “woah, that is very long! no wonder you two have such an amazing bond with each other.” she couldn’t help but smile at how he reflected on how long they’ve been together. their bond is so strong, she wishes that her and her pokemon will reach the place the top coordinator and his team are at.

“hm? oh, I caught keiki with my dad. i think i was 14 or so.” she really couldn’t remember clearly since her memory was pretty bad. “we saw a rustle in the grass so my my dad told me to sneak up to the area. once i saw the brown furry tail, i couldn’t help but squeal because she was so cute.” luda gave a warm smile to the sylveon as the fairy-type let out a happy hum. “i also caught my gardevoir, luna, on the same day. they were both still their first evolution so they were both so cute.”

luda couldn’t help but smile when she remembered when keiki had evolved. “when keiki evolved i got super excited, i thought she would stay an eevee until we were done with our contest career.” she let out a small laugh. “so what was it like when aramis evolved?”

i should’ve just pooled my money into fishing – that old man said there’s serious money in it! ( * a sliver of fear washes over him, though it comes with excitement, just enough of its energy for him not to notice; he blames the tremble of his hand to the caught creature, to expectation. but his toes curl and he starts to reel, starts to spin; bubbles rise to the surface and he takes it as a good sign – resistance means a stronger pokemon, which means easier training, a closer victory. but when he notices the most tension, motion ends and the lake calms. the surface returns to its flat, blue landscape, silent as he looks to luda, looks back to the ripples around the rod. ) what happened?

keep reeling it in! (* the girl said as she clapped her hands together. she could tell that what the pokemon that was at the end of the line wasn’t something small like a goldeen. she walked up next to the other and helped pull the rod. once she felt how strong the resistance was, luda started to get a bad feeling in her stomach.) they either broke the line under the water or- (* she felt their boat wobble and soon the ripples started to get bigger. before telling jackson what was going one she packed away her rod.) I think we just made a very large pokemon very angry.

He smiles and shifts slightly so she could see him more easily in the frame. “Maybe after some time,” he said as he takes pictures with her. “I mean it is my first time acting here at home”. 

Junho chuckles as he hears this. He knew those type of fans, who’s life revolved around the people they watched on screen. “Well I suppose for a detective drama that will be important for the plot at the end”. He jokes a bit as he watches Umbreon look at Keiki curiously. 

He follows after Luda, Umbreon scampering after Keiki. “Alright but i don’t want anything too expensive,” he said as not to burden her.

“Well what if people recognize you from your American shows?” Luda said and turned back to face the other. “I’m pretty sure that will shoot you right to the top.” The small girl said and put up a fist in the air. 

The coordinator laughs and nods, “If the writer needs help remember what had happened 10 episodes back you can call my mom. She’ll probably already figure out hte case because anyone else.” Her mom works from home so most of the time when she was free she would just re-watch every episode to point out every single detail.

“Junho, just pick something you want! Don’t worry about the price, I got you.” She said and approached the stand. “Can i get one green popsicle and 1 scoop of cookie dough and another of brownie.” After she ordered she stepped back and motioned for the other to tell the cashier what he wanted.

Jihyo smiles at her friend as they embrace, hugging her happy friend. “You’re welcome Luda, but I’m sure you would have done fine anyways,” she said to her friend. She smiles as she sees their two Pokemon embrace. The two were good friends, just like their trainers. 

She nods as they leave to the other’s request. “Of course, you think the popcorn the audience had didn’t make me hungry either,” she teases as they walked. She had not eaten much either today, having rushed to Seoul on the train in the early morning after a cut short fishing run to film the commercial. 

Jihyo looks at the restaurant the two had stopped at for a moment. “This looks like a good place alright, let’s head inside,” she said as she guided their small group inside.

“Watching the audience eat their popcorn made me wish the contest would end quicker.” Luda said with a small laugh. “Keiki even nudged me to stay focused at one point.” The sylveon looked at her trainer and let out a ‘yeah, you seriously should have just eaten the pokepuff’ kind of hum. 

When the approval from the gym leader was heard. they walked in and asked for a table that had enough room so that the two pokemon could stick around and maybe if they wanted to let out the rest of their team to join them to the meal. Once they were seated, the first thing Luda did was look through the menu for anything that her pokemon could share. When ordering food the first thing that came to mind was something with just vegetables. 

“Jihyo, what are you getting?” Luda asked, looking over at the other. “I don’t know what to choose. It’s either the spicy tofu soup or maybe a sandwich... “ She flipped to the other side and smiled at all the delicious food. “The back side just made it harder to choose!” She said with slightly frustrated because she couldn’t choose.

“I don’t really collect anything but i really want to start collecting really cute pokemon figures,” the coordinator nodded her head a bit. “My mom told me I should start collecting things so that i can look back on the stories that happened around the time that I had purchased it.” 

She started to think if she collected anything when she was a kid, “But in the past I did collect shells that were on the beach because my dad used to do a lot of fishing back then.” She had a box in her room back home hidden away somewhere in the corner. They probably had become old and brittle now. “They were so pretty, they were different colors and shined a bit when the light hit it right. Those memories are nice to think back to.” The small girl flashed a warm smile and nodded.

“What do you look for in a romantic partner?”

Luda tilts her head a bit, “Good question...” She started to stroke her imaginary beard. “I made a list when i was 15 let’s see what i wrote.” 

The small girl pulls out a folded piece of paper from her wallet, “I don’t know how this didn’t get ruined, but it was when I actually thought of falling in love and how it would be like.” She starts to unfold the paper and laughs at her writing from 5 years ago. 

“So, theres only about 10 things on this list, my ideal type never really changed.” She remembered that when she wrote this list her teenage self kept rolling around on her bed and squealing from imagining all these things happening to her. “These all sound like the same thing- anyways, the person has to be very caring. Someone who takes care of me and gives me support whenever I feel self-conscious or when I feel like giving up.” She skips to the bottom since most of the traits that were written down were embarrassing, “They also have to have dreams they want to accomplish. They have to be very ambitious.”

The coordinator pulls out her phone and shows her home screen that had both her and Eunseo on it. “Everything on here describes Eunseo. “Honestly, I thought I wouldn’t find any one who perfectly fit my list but then she came along.” The small girl bit down on her cheek from how cheesy that sounded. “Ack- It didn’t sound that cringe-worthy in my head.” She laughed and rubbed the back of her neck.

He grins as hears her comment. He supposed that was a compliment even if it didn’t make much sense right away. “That is still up in the air,” he jokes as he turns to look at her. He poses slightly when she takes the picture. “Yah, give me time! I’m used to moving on camera,” he teases. 

He smiles and poses casually as for the camera until she had the photo she wanted. “She is a drama fan,” he asks curiously, thinking that this was a strange thing to bring up. He smiles as he hears her bring up ice cream. He looks down and sees Umbreon rubbing its head against his leg as expect, it loved Ice Cream. “Yah we can. Let’s go”.

“I know you will be up there with the big shots!” Luda said with an energetic tone.  “I’ll take more than one, so that just in case you move we can still get a good shot.” She said while smiling at the camera.

“Yeah, my mom is a huge drama fan. She ever researches on the cast so that she could continue to watch them when they appear on different dramas.” She said as she looked through the pictures. “She usually calls me and talks about a new show that is currently watching and will name everyone. Probably when she sees one episode she will remember every little detail.” 

“Alright!” Luda said and jumped up. Keiki skipped next to the small girl and let out a happy hum;. “I’ll pay this time okay?” Luda said taking out her wallet. “Get what ever you want.”

     if possible, he looks even more embarrassed at her soft little laugh, his cheeks blushing a slightly darker shade of pink. “i just.” he starts, flapping a hand helplessly in his inability to express himself. “i’m not good? at hearing things like that? compliments make me simultaneously very happy and as though i want to hide. it’s really…” he shakes his head slightly, laughing with her at his own ridiculousness. 

     “oops,” he says sheepishly when she reveals her true age. “i’m sorry.” he apologizes, knowing that sometimes, age can be a bit of a sensitive issue. while he doesn’t care how old other people think he is, he knows that other people sometimes hate constantly hearing that they look much younger than they really are, or even worse, much older. 

     aramis shifts slightly as keiki approaches, but she doesn’t seem quite as frightened as she had before. finally, the fairy pokemon is settled close to the psychic eeveelution, and it’s aramis who makes the first move after keiki’s content little hum. her tail flicks out gently, brushing the flank of the sylveon.

     “she seems okay,” he comments with a glance in his espeon’s direction.

luda saw the mystery and cool disappear when the other started to act embarrassed. she thought it was cute, some of the other coordinators that she would compliment would just flip their hair and say ‘i know’ . he wasn’t showing anything artificial and it made luda very happy that she got to see this side of austin.

“it’s totally okay!” luda said with a smile. “i’m just glad you didn’t say 13.” people usually underestimate her since she’s so tiny and looks like a kid. that was the only thing she hated when she joined contests. people would just try to talk her down until she showed her i.d. and realized that some of them were younger than her. 

keiki was happy that aramis finally warmed up to her. after watching the two luda turns her head to austin, “so how long have you and aramis been together?” she liked hearing stories of when people meet their pokemon for the first time.

what if they’re eating? what do they even eat? ( * he isn’t sure of this, either, which forces him to wonder if the lure he’d bought is even effective – they’d assured him at the store, had told him there’d be little wait; something was laced with another, he hadn’t paid attention, hadn’t cared. it only matters now as something tugs on the line, a soft bite, a pull – whether imagined or not, he nearly jumps to his feet as more motion trembles up the string. ) hey, hey luda. ( * his face has brightened, grin wide, eyes round – a squeal hides in his throat, ready to escape at any moment. ) come feel this.

jackson, your bait is fine. you just need to trust your rod. ( - luda sighs, gently moving the line to make it seem like the lure was trying to swim. ) maybe they did swim away from us- ( - at this moment jackson had had felt something.) oh! oh! reel it in! you don’t want it to go away! ( she was excited, this was the thrill of fishing that she liked. luda felt the boat rock a little and just thought it was because jackson was moving around too much. ) hey, don’t move around too much our boat might flip over!

“Aww so cute! It will look so good on him,” She said with a small squeal as she looks at it closely. She had to admit that it was a lot different when she hung out with Luda then the other league members. She felt that she could cut loose and be like everyone else her age, and for a little while let go of her responsibility which was a nice feeling every now and then. 

She nods to the others comments before looking at the other coordinators. “I’ll see you there,” she called as she headed out and to the viewing area. The lighting making it easier to hide her face as she made her way to the front of the crowd. She was cheering loudly when her friend was on stage. 

When the results were announced, she was thrilled. Jihyo waited out at the planned meeting spot for her friend with Bora. She engulfed her friend in a tight hug, smiling happily. Bora hugs Keiki as well, though far more gently then Jihyo did to the fairy type’s owner.”I told you that you could do it,” she said with a bright smile as she released her friend from the hug.

“Our hard work is finally paying off!” Luda said with a slight bounce. “Thank you Jihyo for being here!” She tightly hugged the gym leader and smiled at Bora congratulating Keiki. “Without you here, I probably would have forgotten the set.” A warm smile appears on the small girl’s face as she put her hand on Jihyo’s shoulder. 

They exited the hall together with the two pokemon following after. “Shall we go grab some food?” the coordinator asks and pats her stomach. “The smell of snacks that the other coordinators had made me hungry,” the small girl said with a small laugh. She really didn’t eat much today since she was getting ready for the contest today. All the coordinator wanted to do now was eat everything. 

The two walked for a while and stopped in front of a small resaturant that was slightly empty. “This place looks good. They have a menu that has different foods from various countries.” Luda looked at the gym leader, “Do you want to eat here?

he flashes a small, dimpled smile at the girl and he just nods, used to dealing with angry customers and trainers at this point – many came to the centre annoyed from lost pokemon battles and as he was the one at the front desk, he was usually the one who had to deal with all of the brunt. 

he was the one that was caught on the outskirts of the hurricane while the nurses in the back got to stay in the eye.

or something like that.

though honestly, he wasn’t sure if he should continue trying to make small talk with the girl that had come in, or just do his job without really saying much and he swipes the screen on, typing in the name ‘ken’ and alerting the nurses that there was an injured pokemon. it had been a rather slow day, and he had been bored for most of it so he’s just kind of glad for something to do. 

“okay i’ll get ken all healed up for you,” hongbin promises, taking the pokeball gingerly in his fingers. he wants to tell her that he hoped that she was alright as well but he wasn’t sure how to get the words out and he just ends up swallowing them and he nods at her. “i’ll be right back then. it should take just a few minutes.”

“thank you so much.” luda said pulling away from the counter and sat down on one of the chairs. she puffed her cheeks so that her anger would subside and she would return to her normal self. the only reason why luda never battled anyone was because of how low her pokemon’s levels were. she took out her phone and started to scroll through what had appeared on her home page. 

“ken-” she heard her pokemon’s name being said and she jumped up to counter. luda looked up at the boy with , “hey, i’m so sorry about earlier. i probably made your job harder since i was so harsh-” the girl was about to go on and on with the apology until she caught herself. “is ken doing alright?” she asked, the braixen was like her own baby and if the fire-type got hurt in anyway she would do anything for him to get healthy again. 

the heat in the center was unbearable, luda started to think how the boy could work in those types of conditions. “how do you stay calm in this weather? i would have lost patience if i had to deal with someone like me.” she laughed a bit and smiled at the other.
