End of semester two presentation
Before I ended up painting the wall I put together my layout trying to figure out what way I wanted my pieces to go up I ended up going for this symmetrical system with incline from biggest pieces on the left to slowly smaller pieces toward the right
I then ended up hanging my pieces using masking tape ensuring that I could always go back and change how pieces look, in case I and up not like in the final layout it's not too late for me to go back and change it
I then ended up painting the wall into a cream trying to ensure that my pieces pop and look their best although the color is an off-white cream I feel like it works really well giving my pieces the best chance to stand out
Finally now that I was happy with how my pieces were hanging up into all I ended up using nails and hammering them into place ensuring that it will last until my assessments next week
I am very pleased with the work that I did throughout this semester and I hope that my work shows improvement and progress
Semester 2 week 4 Sylvia's morning life painting session
I ended up mixing my dark medians and light I feel like I should have tried and made more distinct color tones between my dark mediums and lights I feel like that my light and medium are too similar in color and it brings less contrast to my painting
I also realized halfway through my painting that I misplaced the figure putting the finger too far left in the painting losing most of the cemetery that I would have preferred to gain in the painting
I also made the figure two small again I feel like I would have done much better if the figure was bigger and more centre in the painting
Although I am very happy that you can tell the difference between the blanket and the model in the painting that was one of my big worries going into painting that I would be able to tell the distinct difference between the donkey that is covered in the bed sheet and the figure laying down on top of it
Also if I can go back in time I'd be a lot more careful feeling of the masking tape as I noticed at the top I ended up ripping the paint a bit ruining the border a bit although it's not that big deal I would still like to have had that crisp edge
Semester 2 week 2 eoins life painting in the evening
I used Indian inks again for this week I feel like I've greatly improved through Indian link over the course of the 6 weeks I really enjoy how I was able to get the Shadow and shade in the arms and face and I feel like there was huge improvements from the week before
I really focused in on the facial features and the hair I found the model's hair very interesting and fun to paint
Semester 2 week 1 Eoins evening painting session
This was the first of Owens painting sessions I did I found it a bit of a struggle especially since beforehand I already did Sylvia's morning painting session and I was very drained afterwards I feel like you
I used Indian ink for this session I believe it helped me improve my shadow shades on human people although I feel like in the future I should try and incorporate more of the background even though I was absolutely tired from Sylvia's morning painting session
Sketchbook 1 focusing in on color studies with oil pastels and a bit of pen
Semester 2 week 1 live painting with Sylvia
I really enjoyed this session with life painting
I feel like my youth of the color green really made my painting stand out compared to the other colors that weak
I feel like I got my dark medians and lights down to a tea adding a bit of yellow to my lighter color to make it stand out more and so you can see more of the highlights
Although I feel like I should have made more off my dark green since near the end I feel like I nearly ran out and I was a bit more cautious with my darks after that
I also really enjoyed painting the blanket underneath the model I found a challenge but an enjoyable challenge
Although I think for my next figure painting with Sylvia I will try and make the figure more bigger and more in-depth instead of just how it is already
Sketchbook 2 people in spaces Indian ink with a bit of oil pastel
25th of April final painting of the semester
The self-portrait I used acrylic and I painted myself sitting on the donkey looking into the mirror what I most enjoy about this painting is the colors and tones I use I feel like I've really improved since the beginning of the project
Although I did struggle with the figure trying to make it seem proportionally right it was a struggle especially with the background trying to give that pressure that my figure is in the painting studio I ended up repainting the background four times trying to get it perfect before moving on to my figure
I like the contrast between the colors I use for this painting compared to my previous work I really enjoy it I think it stands out against the work I did beforehand and brings an interesting debt to the painting
21st of April self portrait
For this painting I use many different shades of pink's purples and browns
I am really happy with how my cigar turned out as well as my channel and shade
I really like the background I've done in both the mirror and the non mirror background although I do feel like I could have gone into more detail you still get the idea that I am painting in the studio and you can see that the mirror is a octilt angle showing the roof and that I am looking down at the site angle as well
I like how I incorporated the stool that was next to me while I was painting as well as the roof that was behind my head
Going back I feel like I would do more detail in my face as well as trying to get my left arm more accurate to detail trying to refine the lines more
Painting 20th of April my figure in a mirror
First painting on the 21st of April
I ended up setting up my long mirror in the middle of the painting studios and sitting down I posed I focused in on my figure and how my clothes drift around my body
I also focused in on what colors and tones I was using for this self-portrait I use array of pastel tones such as pinks and purples with a hint of orange for the background and table. I am very happy with how the colors and tones turned out on this painting
I also focused in on the background as for the briefs figures and spaces I really like how I incorporated mirror background and the other background in and where you could see my palette I was using for the painting
I struggled with my faith and the skin tones for the painting as well as my hair for that day I feel like because of how curly and frizzy my hair is it's hard to paint most the time
April 18th painting 2
I ended up doing a second parano knife painting I am very happy with how it turned out
I use three different shades of purple dark and medium and light I am very happy with how my figure turned out in the mirror I feel like it's my best have a knife painting up to date
I am also very happy with the easel and the background surrounding the easel I really like the detail I was able to get with the easel and the background around
He was also very happy with the background in the mirror I really distinguished my dark mediums the lights in this painting and I feel like that what makes this mirror self-portrait work
First painting April 18th
I did another mirror self portrait I ended up using 3 tree shades of blue a dark medium and light I am overall happy with the surroundings of the mirror I'm really happy with how I did either and the wall and the background
Although I'm not as happy with my figure I feel like it's very cartoony and I believe that I could do better work if I gave myself more time to
I am also happy with the mirror background that I've done I feel like it is not perfect but it's better than what I did the day before
April 17th painting 2
The second painting I ended up using 3 shades of green dark medium and light the light green I need to add a bit of yellow to make it more tonial different from my other 2
I ended up using a parano following Sylvia's instructions and I also painted the space around the mirror which I found quite difficult at the time overall I am happy how this painting comes out especially since it is one of my first uses of palette knives
April 17th painting 1
First day into brief of figures in spacing I did a self-portrait using the colors blue dot and mixed up at Eoins glass table I was just getting a use to the feeling of my face and trying to relearn how to paint myself
I am happy with the tones of the painting although I feel like I could be better with the facial structure such as my eyes and lips although I'm very happy with how I've done my nose

My third page of thumb Drawings i notice I draw better when I use coloring pencils, and I feel like I get better shadows and shades.
The first drawing of the ball and water tower really drew to me. I did other Tom drawings, much like it. And it really did appeal for me.
the second thumb drawing of the ball and cones, I found very interesting. I did like drawing them. I found the maroon color I used helped me understand the drawing for myself
the third thumb drawing of the fabrics I struggled with. I didn't really find it very interesting. And didn't really make much sense in my head while I was drawing it.

Thumb drawings page 1
The first thumb drawing on this page of the balloons in the basket I really found interesting. I liked how the balloons fit in the basket, and I found drawing it in purple really helped me.
The second drawing I did was a broken lamp. I found that very interesting. Although I i did not like drawing.
I really struggled with the shapes although I do like the color blue. I drew it in. It's not my best though.
The third thumb drawing I did, I enjoyed i like the purple shades I used, and how I use cross hatching to change the tones and to signify the shadow and shade.
The fourth thumb drawing I did, I really enjoyed. It's my favorite so far. I like the umbrella in the background and the watering tower. And the sigh on the left-hand side I really found it interesting to draw. And it's probably one of my favorite sighs done.
The last thumb drawing I didn't like. I feel like I went too heavy with the colors, and I feel like I could have done much better work if I used a different coloring pencil for the lamp.
