DC fandom is like being this big university "class" (how do you call people who go to college in the same year to study the same topic at university?). You can block people, but you will always get rumours so it's unavoidable that you will know about some of the drama here no matter what. We're always comparing ourselves to people around us and feeling unworthy next to those who have done "all of the readings" (there is an infinite number of readings. And yet somehow) and feeling superior to those who are just getting started. There is a group of people who doesn't go to class and has very loud opinions about the readings they didn't read and what they imagined the professor said, and nobody agrees about what it means to "go to class" but there's a group of people who is convinced that if they don't see you studying with them in their preferred elective that means you don't go to class and they're very loud about it. The golden rule of class and readings is no matter how much or how little of the readings you have done you are wrong about how much or how little of the readings you have done. There is a number of elective you can pick such as "critical reading" or "military propaganda". A lot of the faculty is evil but if you point it out people will take that to mean that you don't like what you're studying and to change your major. I have met the most insufferable people here and also some of the people I love most and it's amazing to be surrounded by people who finally don't roll their eyes when I rant about an obscure information I noticed while doing my readings.
