ive been getting a lot of people really worried for this axolotl so i thought i’d clarify: she’s fine. she’s moist on the puppy pad so she won’t dry out and the x ray only takes a few seconds. the x ray was because she had an internal gut blockage due to the wrong substrate being used. they took another x ray after giving her barium to determine where in the gut it was, but the barium lubricated her gut enough that she passed the blockage with no invasive surgery and she’s completely fine. here she is not-flattened

Friends, me a Potota had a BIG FRIGGHt today. HYOOMAN dropped a whole WORM on my head because I haven’t been eating and she thought it was the tongs. It scare me, an beautiful tater SO much that I had to PUFF!! Hyooman says she wishes she’d gotten her video going sooner since I was HUGE!! Now I am have nice quiet nap and she will leave me ALONE for a few days!”

I legit feel awful for scaring her- and she scared me!! She did this weird upside down flip after the worm first landed, and suddenly her belly was full, and suddenly PUFFED POTATO. I finally stopped panicking and started filming.

The worm, meanwhile, made a hasty getaway and I had to yank it out of a plant later.

She seems no worse for wear and apparently hunger strikes are normal for t. Miurus.

i get that they're not killing them and they end up fine, but imagine the trauma of you, a mammal, going through a long ass tube, not knowing what's going to happen to you, and you can't breathe. 🤷‍♀️

They get misted with water throughout the thing, and it results in fewer injuries than the 'ladder' method. Also, it's a fish. It never knows what's going to happen to it at any point in time throughout its life.
