The real tragedy of the supernatural is that it's always about Dean.

The way Sam stopped fighting, stopped trying to get away. The way he resigned himself to just staying by Dean's side.

Dean stole the show's limelight, the fandom's attention, and love. He also stole Sam. It's been said several times in the show that Dean brings Sam back to life for his own sake, it's selfish, he himself admitted it (when he did it the first time). Dean personally took away Sam's chance at a normal life, at death, at making decisions.

Most of the fandom treats Sam the same way Dean treats him, in a bad way. They hate Sam for the same things that Dean resents him for. But Dean is not a normal person, not quite sane in the head. Sam isn't allowed to have anything for himself: happy memories, friends, favorite things, unless he shares them with Dean.

People are mad at Sam because he is not Dean. People, just like Dean himself, can't accept that Sam is just different.

But Dean looks at the situation from his own distorted perspective. The audience, in the other hand, sees everything from the outside, they see the picture as a whole. I will never understand how you can watch Supernatural, hate Sam and think that Dean is right about everything.

NO because I am not delusional. I know deans straight, I know deans not in love with his brother, I ship them for FUN. I talk about them as a “what if,” as a “let’s over analyze all these scenes,” knowing full well it was most likely just shitty writing and the writers version of humor. I can differentiate canon Dean and the shippy headcanon Dean that lives in my head because I’m not so stupid as to not be able to take off the ship glasses and look at the actual media with clear eyes. I can fully recognize that a character is CANONICALLY straight while wanting them to have gay sex in my mind.

How they survive & how their dynamic/relationship evolves/changes during that time. How they adapt to this new world and what a world of only monsters and no real consequences brings out of them (primarily dean). What it means for sam.

And how they adjust (if at all) when they eventually get back to their world, with rules and consequences and societal expectations. If they learn to fit in again, or if they stay in the bunker and live a hermit life instead, unwilling or unable to go back to the way they were before.
