anyway this is my silly deranged creature Tarjeta. i'm still figuring out much of their personality and other little quirks. i need to figure out what their DEAL is

doing an ask blog would be fun and possibly help me with that, but now that i'm getting promoted at work i will have much less time to draw :/

weather duo but what if one of them was extra dextra Doomed by the prophecy

the first panels kind of suck because I drew those over a month ago and was not planning for the first panel itself to result in a comic this long. that first panel was just a doodle I did on a car ride so. here we are now. and I know the GFI is bad quality. it was originally a huge file size that had to be compressed down.

also this is just me stuffing every single headcanon I like about them in one comic and I'm listing them all below

lanino USED to like his freckles but then tenna was MEAN and now he doesn't like them anymore :(

lanino uses Invisalign on the job 👍👍👍 my favorite one

tenna had a big ass mirror of shadow crystal and gifted it to his number one employees (lanino elnina) because it 'looked fancy'

mirror is very much inspired by the amazing mirror from kirby

ramb destroyed the mirror cause he's the only one who knew its strength in corruption

he missed a piece though and someway somehow it ended up in elninas possession

lanino is very bad at choosing to confront his feelings while elnina is very bad at physically restraining her feelings

they have an alarm clock of each other's faces 👍👍 also my favorite

very long post but if you read my comic I really appreciate it!!!! I know it doesn't have the best writing but I'm glad I finally finished it instead of letting it sit as another alleged 'wip'

Hi guys did y'all know that you can determine a lot about Rouxls Kaard's military position based on his uniform.

(Info below the cut because there's a Lot)

So firstly, Rouxls is French. This is I feel implied by his name, which uses French grammar rules (mostly the x being silent). It is also implied to a degree by the style of uniform he's wearing. That specific look of both epaulettes and the front buttons is a very distinctly French uniform thing.

And if we go with that, we can learn a lot.

French uniforms have color codes, first and foremost. Rouxls' uniform being blue signifies he's "Troupes métropolitaines", from the mainland. And his uniform markings and epaulettes being silver/white signify he's a cavalryman (which certainly falls in line with him riding that duck into battle in chapter 2).

I wanted to then figure out what his military rank would be. He doesn't have any distinct markings. He has a symbol on his pirate hat that I tried to match to the general look of a rank symbol, but I couldn't find any that looked right.

I did however go back to look at his shop sprite.

He has two sparkles that pop up near his head here. Based on this, I decided to deem him Commissaire général de brigade, or commissary brigade general, which is signified by two stars. So Rouxls is essentially a low-ranking general.

I then went looking for more images of French uniforms that featured the epaulettes, the button style, and where the rank marker is typically located on a uniform like that.

These are all commissary brigade generals, with different styles of uniform, but who all have the rank marker on the end of the sleeve.

Something I consistently saw that I found interesting was the button styles. Rouxls is drawn to look like he has this decorative string/rope/chain connecting the buttons. I could not find any historical uniforms with that feature. It may exist? And I did see a couple costumes that included it. But I didn't find any on the guaranteed historical stuff. So ??

I did however find a few uniforms that featured this rope draped over the shoulder. This is called a fourragére, and has some interesting things to note with it.

Many of the fourragéres you'll find in these historical uniforms are gold. The gold ones in French history are often aiguillettes, which were specifically the insignia of Napoleon and his troops. There are other colored ones that signify various specificities, but by and large, these are awarded to military members who are mentioned in several dispatches. This basically means when a superior writes a report and someone's name is mentioned alongside a description of "gallant or meritous action". A lot of people awarded fourragéres have like 3+ mentions in dispatches. There are decorative fourragéres that don't really signify any military affiliation or significance, buuuut those tend to have their own specific colors and styles. And also aren't as fun in terms of lore implications for Rouxls.

I unfortunately am not finding any fourragéres in silver, white, or blue. So I suppose the color will be up to artist interpretation, based on how many mentions in dispatches we think Rouxls had.

For a quick reference:

9 - 11 mentions: half red, and half red with green stripes, with a white ring separating each half (WWI only).

6 - 8 mentions: half red and half green with red stripes (WWI only)

4 - 5 mentions: half yellow with green stripes and half green with red stripes (WWI). Or, half yellow with green stripes and half red with green stripes (WWII).

2 - 3 mentions: green with red stripes (WWI). Or red with green stripes (WWII).

All world wars, but hey, you could also give him a gold one and say he served under Napoleon.

Noting as well that standard etiquette with fourragéres is to give them up if you leave your unit (if they were awarded based on mentions of the entire unit). You can keep your fourragére if it was awarded to or otherwise represents you specifically. So Rouxls needs to be uniquely successful with his mentions.

Anyway. I will probably draw historically accurate Rouxls later. For now I am very tired. This was mostly a ramble of all the stuff I've learned tonight because I love Rouxls, but maybe it will be helpful or otherwise interesting for someone :]
