Karina sits down at the bar, the crowd going wild as the hula dancers begin to come out, the festival already beginning while the imu still cooks. The woman had done her research, had checked out the traditions and different practices that the kamaʻāina uphold and share.
A place rich with culture, a world different to where she's from, Karina finds herself utterly fascinated as she watches the movements of the dancers. Their paʻū move with the motion of their hips, their footwork quickly draws her attention and once the sweet cocktail is made — Karina wastes no time to move closer.
Not quite recognising the person she takes a seat next to, eyes fixated on the dancers, Karina brings the straw to her lips. "They move so beautifully..." She mutters, more to herself but loud enough that the other person can hear her, while she takes a sip.
Karina pulls her sunglasses down her nose, staring out at the people surrounding them and watching how they interact, how they behave. She watches carefully to see how much fun they are all having while she bakes in the sun.
Looking over to her left, spotting the woman next to her, Karina reaches for the sunscreen and offers it to her. "Mind helping a girl out?~" There's a glint in her eyes as she smiles almost too sweetly, like she has a plan.
Watching Jungkook grab the bracelet, Karina's expression cracks slightly and she's about to tell him to give it back. 'That's mine' so close to falling from her lips but she smoothes it all over to keep him from seeing beneath the mask she's carefully constructed.
Cold, distant, unbothered. The bitch that everyone likes to claim that she is. That's what she shows in this moment because anything else wouldn't be enough — anything else would crumble.
Karina's heart clenches, the feeling suffocating, as he speaks but she sets her lips into a hard line and nods her head. "Sure. You do what you want to do, like you always do." There it is, that sharp jab at the reason why they are standing here like strangers.
Why hadn't she thought of sending the hoodie back to him? Why did she need to see him one last time as if that would change anything? Maybe because she had to know, she had to make sure that this was it. She never had a chance to fight for them, she never had the chance to even ask why... though, she knew. Of course, she did.
They had burned out.
Folding her arms over her chest, Karina takes a moment to make sure her voice doesn't give away her hurt. "So," there's a slight crack as she speaks so she needs to clear her throat. "So, this is it?"
She needs to hear it. To move on, she needs that closure that they won't find their way back to each other.
The question lingers between them. So, this is it? For a moment, Jungkook doesn't answer. His grip shifts on the folded hoodie tucked beneath his arm, his gaze settling somewhere past her shoulder instead of meeting her eyes. It's easier that way.
"...Yeah." He lets the silence stretch for another second before finally looking at her. "I don't really know what else you thought was going to happen tonight... You told me to come and grab my stuff, so I came to get my stuff." He lets the words rest there before adding. "I'll send yours over in a couple of days."
He shifts the hoodie to one hand, letting it hang against his thigh as he speaks, holding it like it was just another piece of fabric now. "You don't have to worry about me bothering you again. Make it easier for you"
He takes a deep breath as he walks towards the door. "...Take care of yourself, Karina."
The words, he may have well slapped her across the face instead because the pain wouldn’t have hurt as much as this. She didn’t know what to expect, she didn’t know how she thought things would go but what she was expecting wasn’t this. This… erasure. Seeing all their time together practically wiped away.
Sure, she’s being cold but how else was she supposed to protect herself?
He started and ended things so abruptly, she never had time to settle. On his terms, without warning, no conversation, she just had to accept it and when she wanted him to face her — to actually see the damage he caused — that’s the response.
Inhaling slowly, pushing it further down, Karina steels her expression. “Don’t bother.” She finally speaks, turning her own back to walk towards the windows. A flash of lightning blinds her for a moment and her feet stop moving. “Throw it, burn it, donate it all to charity for all I care. The quicker you can be rid of me, the easier it’ll be for you to go have your fun.”
The harsh words make her feel sick, her brow furrowing as she swallows the bile rising in her throat. She sits on the floor, knees pulled to her chest and chin resting on top; she’s waiting for the door to click shut, the physical representation of Jungkook leaving her life for good before she breaks.
‘Take care of yourself, Karina.’
Silence is all he’s met with as she closes in on herself, arms wrapped around her tightly, a cocoon to keep it together.
“Goodbye… oppa…” She says so softly, certain he wouldn’t hear.
For so long, Karina thought she knew how this story would end. For so long, she thought it was them, until the end, no matter what. Fights, they could make up later. Breaks, they'd find each other. The distance, it'll close. Karina was always so sure of herself, of the life she was living, but right now — she's lost.
The love they had is now gone, faded into nothing but memories of what they once were. Everything they had is now being torn down, brick by brick, until not even the foundations remain in place. From lovers to strangers in such a short period of time causes her heart to clench tightly until the ache has her rubbing her chest, a physical response to the emotions she's feeling.
He broke her heart again... He broke... her.
A melancholic laugh escapes when Karina realises that they were never going to last. It's not for the lack of trying, it's not like this wasn't as real as love could get, but they were fated to end up burnt out and unable to rekindle. How do you keep the flame alight when one gets bored too easily for a settled routine?
The laugh doesn't stop; what started as a short sound soon becomes almost hysteric as she begins to cry. With shaking shoulders, the woman pulls her knees to her chest and buries her face to try and stifle the sounds escaping her. The emotions that she's pushed down, refused to feel since the break up, finally bubbles to the surface and causes her to feel like she's losing it.
Or maybe, she had long before this moment and she's now catching up.
The woman doesn't know how long she's been sitting in the dark, the quiet, listening to her own ragged breaths and the rain pattering against the windows — but at some point, a hesitant knock pulls her back to reality. With shining eyes, Karina looks towards the door, knowing who is on the other side and that ache comes back in full force.
Sniffing, nose a little blocked from the break down, she wipes her face to remove the evidence of her tears because she refuses to let Jungkook see her like this. Whether it's out of pride or because she wants to spare his feelings, nobody will know, but she takes the time to fix her appearance and head over to open the door.
"Come in." No hello, no smile, no sweetness that she once reserved for him. Her greeting is as cold as the air outside as she steps aside and walks over to the reason she messaged him. She walks coolly over to the folded item, past the discarded jewellery, and picks it up. "This is yours."
In her arms is the hoodie she always stole, the one she'd wear to show she was his even when they weren't together. It was a symbol of them, their love, connection, through it all so Karina finally giving it back can only mean one thing...
The door swings open, and for the first time in years, Jungkook doesn't know what to do with himself. He'd spent so much time here that entering had once felt automatic. Kick his shoes off by the door, drop his keys onto the counter. Now he stands there, hands stuffed into his front pockets.
Even a proper 'hey' was stuck in his throat, refusing to come out. But by the looks of it, she didn't look to pleased to see him either. Even her voice sounded different. Colder than before.
He steps inside without another word, closing the door ninety-five percent. Leaving it ajar enough so he could leave a little smoother. Something he hadn't done before. Before, he'd close and lock the door behind him, often resulting in other activities for the night.
The apartment looks mostly the same. The faint scent of her apartment that somehow hasn't changed, but none of it feels like home anymore. Like he doesn't belong anymore. Still, his eyes follow her as she crosses the room, only stopping at the hoodie he knew all too well. How a piece of clothing had so many memories. How many afternoons she'd be in it, wearing it more than he did. And now, it's folded so neatly it almost doesn't look worn at all. Slowly, he reaches out and takes it from her.
"...Thanks." His fingers tighten around the fabric for a moment before his gaze drops to the bracelet on the counter. Her birthday present that he spent hours picking out now having no meaning to it. He scoops it up in his hand.
"I didn't have time to bring any of your stuff, but I'll get it together and ship it out to you. Instead of having to do this again." He slips the bracelet into his front pocket, not giving it another thought. "Probably give it a few days to arrive."
Watching Jungkook grab the bracelet, Karina's expression cracks slightly and she's about to tell him to give it back. 'That's mine' so close to falling from her lips but she smoothes it all over to keep him from seeing beneath the mask she's carefully constructed.

She needs to hear it. To move on, she needs that closure that they won't find their way back to each other.
Winter's schedule was quite packed lately, between the groups comeback and the world cup quick visit to support the team in a different country, it was safe to say that the idol was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to rest comortably, and nothing was more comfortable for her than being with her closest friend. The singer let herself into Karina's home without a second thought, leaving her shoes by the door and quickly running to the couch to drop unceremoniously next to her friend. "Ah! Finally home!" She joked, playful smile on her lips. "What are we having for dinner?"
Karina had been going through her phone, cleansing it of memories when Winter landed next to her. A soft scoff leaves her lips as she looks over at the other woman and for a moment, everything that she had been feeling faded away just by her presence.
That's the effect Winter had on her, her closest friend, the person she couldn't survive without. The woman always somehow managed to calm the storm that sat just below Karina's surface.
"Dinner? Yah!" She playfully nudges against the other's shoulder before jutting her chin towards the kitchen. "Do you want to cook or should we order in? Since you've made yourself at home, why don't you decide?" The teasing tone laces her tone and the soft smile shows that she isn't annoyed at all, in fact, she loves that Winter can just come and feel at home with her.
Karina looks at the message, double tapping it before placing her phone in her purse and making her way towards the bar. The little black dress has every eye in the room landing on her but it's her beauty and aura that really pulls them all in. The woman grabs attention every where she goes, even if she didn't have the title of being an idol — Karina would still be the centre of the room.
Even when she's not trying to be.
The way she holds her head high shows that the leering from the men a short distance away doesn't bother her, why would it? They always want what they can't have. "A bottle of soju and a large bottle of Cass, two glasses." She instructs, pulling out her card to pay before glancing over at a man sliding towards her. "Don't even think about it." She says before turning her attention back towards the bartender, offering her a smile as she grabs the items and makes her way towards an empty table.
Maybe it's the company, maybe it's the music pumping through her veins, but for tonight, Karina has decided to leave everything at the door. Nothing will bring her down.
Practice ends, but Jungkook lingers anyway. The other members filter out one by one, voices fading down the hallway until the room finally falls quiet, and he's grateful for it. The silence gives him something to focus on besides the knot sitting in his chest. A towel hangs around his neck. Sweat cools against his skin. His phone rests face-up beside him on the floor. New notifications from social media, from the dozens of group chats he was in, random replies from friends, but none from her. Not that he expected one. The corner of his mouth twitches humorlessly. For years, he'd always known where he stood with Karina. Even when they were fighting. Even when they were "off". Even when jealousy, distance, schedules, and their own stubbornness kept dragging them apart. There had always been an invisible line connecting them.
Now there wasn't. The change was now his biggest challenge because he was used to that pattern in their relationship. Fight, breakup, sex, rekindle, repeat. Jungkook reaches for his phone before he can stop himself, opening their chat. Their last messages stare back at him.
i'm free. i can stop by after practice.
Like strangers arranging a pickup.
He exhales, fingers already typing...
You can keep the clothes.
Then deletes it. Types again.
Throw them away...
Deletes that too. The screen goes blank. Eventually, he shoves himself to his feet and grabs his bag. The drive over feels shorter than it should. Rain taps against the windshield the entire way. By the time he parks outside her building, his grip on the steering wheel has gone numb. For a moment, he just sits there. The engine still running. Raindrops hit the windshield.
Then finally kills the engine, and heads inside. He drags his legs towards the elevator, then down the hall to her door, then his finger hovers over the numbers on the lock. Ready to hit that code he put in so often. He coudln't just walk in there, right? Before his mind could play catch up, his hand curled into a first and knocked.

The message catches Jungkook halfway through practice. The contact name is enough to make his stomach sink before he's even read the words. He'd spent the last week trying not to reach for his phone every time it buzzed. Trying not to wonder. Trying not to linger in the past. The screen stays lit in his hand for a few seconds after he reads it.
you left some clothes at my place.
Honestly, he can't remember exactly what he'd left behind anymore. A jacket? Pants? His extra helmet for his bike?
jungkook: i'm free.
Then another message follows.
jungkook: i can stop by after practice.
He stares at the chat for a moment before locking his phone and shoving it back into his pocket. A few weeks ago he'd been waking up beside her. A few weeks ago he'd been planning dates between schedules. A few weeks ago he'd thought maybe they'd finally figured it out. Now he's arranging a time to collect forgotten clothes. Funny how quickly things change. His gaze drops to the practice room floor. For a second he considers telling her to throw everything away.... keep it... burn it... whatever she wants. But that feels too much like running from it. And if they're really doing this.. really ending it this time, then he owes her more than disappearing. So when his phone lights up again, Jungkook reaches for it immediately. Ready to get through the part he'd been dreading most. The goodbye.
A soft, slow breathe exhales as he replies, the reality beginning to sink in because she knows that this is it. The finality of it all makes her feel sick, makes her ache, makes everything inside her shrivel up and squeeze until it feels like she can no longer breath.
Why are they here, again? What was it this time? What reason? Even if she asked, even if she tried to understand, Karina knows that she won't actually be able to. It just... is. The answer both frustratingly simple and painfully bland.
It. Just. Is.
Her hand reaches for the piece of jewellery that he had gotten her for her birthday, the memory barging to the forefront of her mind and taunting her with something good. Tears prickle at the corners of her eyes and she lets out a deprecating scoff as her head tilts back, staring at the ceiling for a moment with fists clenched by her side. "I hate you." The words don't hold any weight to them, they are as fake as the smile she's been wearing.
How could she hate him when he's the one she loved more than anything?
Before Karina can stop herself, the jewellery is unclipped and placed on top of the counter. She'll deal with it later, he can have it back, give it to someone else for all she cares, she just cannot look at it right now. Can't wear it without remembering. Can't keep it... She just... can't.
Staring at the text, the reply he had given, Karina doesn't bother to respond because what would she say?
'You know the code.'
'I'll be waiting.'
'Okay.'
Nothing important, so don't say anything at all.
Tossing her phone onto the couch carelessly, she makes her way over to the lone chair by the windows, the one that allows her to look outside and admire the view — except the view is rain. Dark, dreary, disgusting and cold rain.
The hoodie sits folded on her desk, the item washed and cleaned of any reminder that might come from it. It's waiting to be returned, waiting to be shoved into the back of a closet and never to be looked at again.
Or maybe regifted. Who knows.
Sighing, Karina squares her shoulders and shakes her head to give herself a feign air of confidence. Phone in hand, she brings up the contact that now sits buried under all the others and types out a message with a shaky breath.
katarinabluu: are you busy? you left some clothes at my place.
It's clear, or she thinks it is, that she doesn't want to have anything reminding her of him this time. She doesn't want to keep falling back into the habits that once pulled her in, she doesn't want to end up in this position. Again. Again... Again.
A lump in her throat forms that she forces down, that unease settling in her stomach making her want to run away, but she doesn't. Not right now.
After. She can disappear after. They deserve this much, the closure, the finality of goodbye. They deserve this and then she deserves a break. To break.
karina and winter are two peas in a pod. karina is very loving with her and takes very good care of younger woman and is very protective. she will always be there for winter and will never turn her back on her — no matter what.

jake’s gaze flickers the second the door opens, quick and instinctive before it settles back on her face like it never left in the first place. it’s automatic, the way he smooths into it, into the version of himself that knows exactly how to respond, how to exist in moments like this without thinking too hard about anything else. "guess i’m full of surprises tonight."
his voice is easy, light enough to match hers, like he didn’t almost sit in his car and drive off instead. like showing up was always the plan. he steps inside when she moves, brushing past her just close enough to register without lingering. "instructions weren’t that complicated," he adds after a beat, glancing back at her over his shoulder, the hint of a smirk tugging at his mouth like it belongs there. it’s all practiced. effortless in a way that doesn’t require him to think about anything beneath it.
not the quiet that followed him here, not the empty spaces he’s been avoiding filling with anything real. not the way everything lately feels just slightly off, like he’s a step behind in his own life. he just leans into the doorway further inside, head tilting slightly as his eyes land back on her, expression unreadable for half a second too long before it shifts again.
"besides, i did tell you that i came fully trained."
She allows the door to close behind her and looks up at him for with a slight lift of her lips. A hand is placed on his chest as Karina steps forward to close the distance between them.
Tonight, she's not thinking. Tonight, he's the centre of her attention.
Not that she really is worried about much, or thinking, caring, about anything outside of what is happening right now. If anyone was to ask Karina about her life right now, she would say that it's fine. Everything's fine. What more could she want than a good career and an attractive man willing to listen?
"I'm willing to put that training to the test," she knows her body is on display, the cleavage showing, skin inviting, even her perfume is alluring, if only he was allowed to touch. She's checking to see his control, to see where his attention goes or how long it takes before he makes a move.
That's how she'll know how this night will go.
Will he make the first move, follow through on all the back and forth they've had or will he let her lead and use that leash like she's promised?
"Do you think you can keep up, pretty boy?" There's a soft teasing in her voice as she stands on her tiptoes to whisper against his lips.
Yoongi was leaning against a tree, eyes closed, hoodie pulled down as he relaxed. It was a nice day, the warmth of the sun felt nice. He could feel himself start to doze, which normally he would be fine with but he was alone, in public none the less. So instead of letting his eyes remained closed he instead sits up, grumbling as he stretched and slowly stands. He stretches with a low groan, rubbing his back for a moment as he takes a few staggered steps while his body figures out how to function properly.
After a few more stretches, he manages to walk properly as he moves to adjust his glasses with a small yawn. He places his hands on his hips, glancing around at the all the people also enjoying the warm weather before stepping back to the tree to grab a bottle of water from his bag. He hears movement close to him, glancing over at it and spotting someone setting their jacket down. He closes the bottle prepared to pull the mask from under his chin up as he turns, but pausing as his face registers a familiar face. "Oh.. Jimin-ssi." He says quietly giving a small nod. "Enjoying the weather too?"
The name catches her attention, not that it's unusual, just that it's not something that she's used to being called by most people. An easy smile plays on her lips as she bows, "oppa, hello." When she stands, Karina looks around them and nods her head, "it's been too long since I've had a day off where I could go and soak up some sun." Her head tilts slightly, hair falling over one shoulder as she looks at him, "how about yourself?"
Without waiting to be invited, she moves closer, making herself comfortable near the man. People are too busy paying attention to what is going on in their own lives to worry about them anyway.
"How have you been doing? I hear your comeback has been going well." Leaning back on her hand, Karina looks over at Yoongi for a moment before tilting her head back and sighing softly.
It's not often that she is like this, the edges softer than normal, but that's what happens when around certain people — she lets go of the cold princess persona and adopts the sweeter side.
