Samantha Coe Coe likes to challange the viewer with the concept of Textiles as the garment made of cables can be worn, but is not practical and does not really seem to fit it our traditional ideas of Textiles. Textiles to Coe, is all about challenging traditions and conventions and about exploring new possibilities and experimenting with new techniques and materials. Last day of ‘What is Textiles’ tomorrow, Wednesday, at Gallery Seventeen Dundas Street Edinburgh, 10am-5pm See you there!

Nigerian artisan Ojo Obaniyi from Ibadan has applied his skill in weaving in an unusually creative way to advertise his business.
Obaniyi, who has practiced the craft for 20 years, has covered the interior and exterior of his Volkswagen pickup with raffia palm cane, including the entire car body, the wheel caps, chairs, steering wheel and dashboard in an effort to attract attention from passersby.
Obaniyi says of his handiwork:
’I wanted to prove a point that it is not only the educated elite that can make positive changes in society. We, the artisans also have talents to effect a change and make a positive impact in the society.
That is why I decided that I too must do something that will make people to recognize me and know me across the whole world and by extension prove to the world that African and indeed the entire black race have very talented people.’

A quirky lampshade has been hand knitted with recycled linen yarn and then dip dyed.
EY YOU! Thank very much for the comment, seriously, you made the rest of last night. I owe you a huge hug. Finally I took my bike and went to the park at midnight so I can clear up my mind. I ate a full box of cereals in the dark of the park hahahaha it was weird, I'm weird, anyway, good morning x) xxx
Awhh I'm glad you're feeling better! It's just the advice i tell myself from time to time :)I'm about to go for a run now, the bike has retired as there's too many hills here and i'm far too lazy!My ask doesn't let me respond privately anymore, Tumblr hates me lately xx
