... But before that; Yes, hi! - I apparently sometimes post here still despite my 2018 hyperfixation of Studio 100 being rather cooled off nowadays. It still comes back from time to time. I swear, when youโve been hyperfixating on something hard enough it never truly leaves you, it just sleeps until you feed it again!
Anyways!
I remember when I watched their Sneeuwwitje musical for the first time back in 2018 and the incredible idea that got stuck with me that Thyssenโs role as Aime acted very similarly to the original Aimรฉ. Remember?
Still with me? Good!
I was re-watching the musical this summer (or, actually, I was listening to the songs and just saw all the scenes with Aimรฉ in them because the rest of the musical is shockingly boring - There, I said it!) and it just hit me, suddenly; The queen calls him struisvogel (ostrich) at one pointย to mock him:
... And as I was doing a fanart as a quick warmup one day- ;
- I realised that he is indeed covered in feathers!ย (Donโt ask me how Iโve missed that before, I mustโve been blinded by his expressive beautiful eyes or something-)ย This opened up a new revolutionary idea in my head (wow that sounded way more serious than it actually is); What if the character of Aimรฉ is just modeled after a butler bird, similar to Zazu from the Lion King?
But!! If that is the case!
... Does that mean that Aimรฉ - the actor - is acting in a birdlike manner in many of his roles?
One of my favourites. Itโs just about Samson learning to play piano and how important is it to rehears and practice. But the music is inspired by old classical music and I just love it! Thereโs a catchy melody in it that I really enjoy.
After the main three NachtWacht characters, Smal was the next one I wanted to try and make a moodboard for. So much so that I decided to make it before I try doing Wilkoโs.
Smal is a fantastic character. I usually really dislike the typical girly-girl characters, the ones with attitude and makeup/clothes obsession (like Rarity in MLP for example, I loathe her...) but Smal is different, somehow. I like the fact that sheโs so full of herself that she literally doesnโt care who loves her and who doesnโt, as long as she keeps hearing how pretty she is, sheโs happy.
I love these Kabouter characters, theyโre really child friendly with extreme personalities. Like, Smal doesnโt get angry, she gets super pissed and really mad. She doesnโt get jealous, she turns almost green with jealousy. But sheโs also sweet when she needs to be and knows how to use her good looks and love interests to do some good.
The first Christmas themed gifset. Well it is only six months until Christmas after all!
This isnโt their best Christmas song, but it is still filled with that warm fuzzy Christmas feeling like all of them. Itโs sweet, itโs warm, it has snow and red clothes, a Christmas tree, presents.
Also that red shirt Gert wears looks comfy as hell. I want it!
I made a rant post a while back about Jabaloe, theย โworst show by Studio 100โณ as I called it. Is there anything good in it? Well...
There is a character calledย Twinkly (yes, his name is fucking Twinkly) played by Danny Houtkooper (who Iโve never heard of before) and his character trait is that heโs gay. Thatโs it. Not openly gay, of course, he doesnโt flirt with anyone or so (that would be a step far too much for our dear Studio 100) but just look at him. Everything, from his clothes, to his hair, to the way he acts and his personality. Heโs gay.
But hereโs the thing; heโs not annoyingly gay. Many gay characters when being used as a joke are so over the top. They scream, they behave like bitches or sluts, are so gay-girly and all about clothes and just god awful annoying. Also, theyโre loud. Twinkly is none of this. Heโs calm (probably the calmest character in the whole show), pretty quiet and grounded. Heโs lovely, kind and just want to be happy and knows he looks good. Iโd love to compare him to Alberto from Samson & Gert (who also is a totally-gay-but-we-never-say-heโs-gay-but-yeah-heโs-obviously-gay character) who at times is very loud and over the top. Compared to Alberto, Twinkly is SO calm and tame.
When heโs in a scene, even the laughing track feels appropriate. God this character is WAY too good for this show...
Another great thing about this show is the fact that Sven de Ridder is in it, and his character, Jack the Sheriff, is totally okay so heโs fun to watch. Sven looks like heโs really doing this for the paycheck and because for the fun of it, heโs rarely over the top and is pretty fun at times too. Also from what I know, Peter and Sven are pretty good friends IRL, so their scenes together are pretty fun and Peter isnโt as cringy or annoying when thereโs only the two of them or theyโre playing against each other.
Also I find it hilarious that Sven is playing the sheriff when heโs like a head shorter than anyone else in the show. That was probably their plan all along and itโs adorable.
These two are seriously the only thing I really, really enjoy about the show. Iโd love to take them, drag them out of the whole cowboy-business and put them in a good show instead. The main character Joe is also okay, but heโs that bland sort of main character that is a bit TOO bland. I donโt care about him at all and the only thing I know about him (still) is that he sort of has a crush on the girl, and she sort of have a crush on him, but they never establish it or confirm it? So vague...
Twinkly is amazing though. Oh why is he in this awful show...? Scrap that,ย WHY IS ANY OF THESE AMAZING ACTORS IN THIS AWFUL SHOW!???
Iโm not as happy with this as the Keelin one, but itโs something. I couldnโt mix the colours of the actual gif because it kept freezing and getting corrupt. One day Iโll make a pure red Vlad moodboard ~
Also I gave him a yellow eye in the board even though this one is more focused on his normal form than his vampire form. OH WELL!
Also I JUST realised they serve fucking cactus milk in this show, WHAT IS IT with this studio and milk ???? Is Jabalou actually Kabouter Plop on acid and in an alternate universe where everything is cowboys and western themed ???

Let me introduce; Jabaloe. Wanna know why itโs so bad? Please keep reading:
Iโve never seen this show before and didnโt know it existed until today, and by God, I hate it. It can be the worst thing Studio 100 ever has produced... Itโs not funny (and the laughing track is making everything even more unfunny), the characters are annoying and everybody is an extreme stereotype except for the sheriff and the main character Joe. Also, Iโve never been more annoyed by both Walter Baele and Peter Thyssen in my LIFE (and I LOVE Peter otherwise!!)
I saw a whole episode and I almost couldnโt stand it. Then I decided that I had to watch at least some more to get a full view of it, and I swear it became worse and worse with each episode... The very clear stereotypes are set in like five minutes and after that theyโre just cringy, especially Walter and Peter, God I canโt stress that enough how much I wish theyโd go away in every scene theyโre in.
Walter is playing Joeโs mother, Moe Jabaloe, a woman. Harr de harr, very funny; A man in a dress with ugly makeup doing a girly voice. โHilariousโ. Yes itโs old humour that doesnโt fly today but usually I can take it with older shows or even newer shows that doesnโt know better or are doing it in a good way... But, this show was made in 2012. Fucking 2 0 1 2 ??? Add the fact that among the six characters in the show, only one of them is a female played by a female. ONE, and sheโs pretty much only there to be a sex appeal give the men a woman to fight over, since she barely has any character traits of her own and often I forget sheโs in a scene at all. Belgium showing their incredible uninterest for gender equality again...
Peter is playing a stupid cowboy. A hillbilly. An idiot. Heโs doing it so over the top that I cringe every scene heโs in. It all makes me go โoh, dear, no, WHY did you say yes to this role...??? You can do SO MUCH better!? Who hurt you this way??โ
The episodes are boring at best... And incredibly annoying at worst. They are often dumb, with no repercussions for anything. Especially since all the characters are grown up, it feels very weird. Like one episode (the first one I watched) was about the Sheriff (Sven de Ridder <3) fooling everybody that he was brave by making Peter (the idiot) pretend that heโs a thief. They of course discover how it really is (because this plot is older than buttered toast) and tricks him back by having two other characters dress up as the same thief. They tease him a bit, making him scared, then show that itโs only them and... Thatโs it. He saysย โaw you got meโ and they tease him some more and itโs just ends.
Itโs just so braindead... And Iโve been seeing a LOT of Studio 100 shows by now. Even Big & Betsy (which we will talk about another day) is so much more entertaining because of the lovely characters and the more interesting episodes (and also, no fucking laughing track). If Jabaloe is targeted towards older kids than Big & Betsy, then the episodes are far too dumb and the show is far too boring. If itโs targeted towards the same age as Big & Betsy, then whatโs with the, at times, sexual humour?
This makes me so confused... I donโt recommend this show, at all, and this isnโt the first post I make about the show because I have so much more to talk about. There are a few positive things about the show too, itโs not the worst thing ever (just really bad). But Iโll talk more about that in the next post...
I thought she was so incredibly beautiful in this short, short clip from Ad Inferos, and it gave me inspiration to do a moodboard. I will absolutely do more in the future, both of her and the rest of the gang (as well as other Studio 100 characters) because this was so fun to do!

This one is lovely. In 2016 Studio 100 celebrated 20 years as active, so of course they milked this as much as they could and made songs for this occasion.

In other words; Pretty much every show they made which made enough money and still was/is popular when they made this music video.
The song is ridiculously catchy. The first time I heard it I had to re-listen to it at least five times because it was stuck in my head! Also, for everyone growing up with these shows Iโm sure this whole music video is a fantastic nostalgia trip (and for people like me itโs an interesting look into how many successful shows they actually have made).
The song pretty much goย โweโre having a party, itโs fun, dance with us!โ as well as counting all the shows present in the refrain. Sing along!
This is probably their mostย โchildishโ song. Itโs great, however, if you want to learn how different animal sounds are in Flemish, because thatโs all the song is.ย โPigs sound like this, cats sounds like this, cows are dancing in a circle and now we clap and stamp on the ground and whistle!โ
In a way itโs a very cute song, even if itโs childish and extremely pointless. Itโs also often very cute when they do it live in the Christmas shows, one year had the ballet kids dressed up as different animals roaming around the stage. So cute!
This is one of their best songs. Not only because itโs so early 2000โฒs that Iโm getting younger just listening to it (it even has that robot-voice-thingy 2 and a half minutes into the song!!) but because itโs just so catchy and happy. It makes me so full of energy!
Actually, the song is very good but whatโs REALLY amazing is listening to this one live. Like the Christmas shows. Here you can hear them perform it live, and itโs just magic. Everything from the background, the live orchestra, the effects which makes it seem like Gert really is flying, the way he pronounces the words with even more power when itโs live. Yes, the song may be good recorded but when itโs live itโs just magical.
Theyโre basically singing about how amazing skateboards are (I told you it was early 2000โฒs!), and how they want to fly away since every other way of transport either is boring or dangerous. Iโd argue that skateboarding in the air is a thousand times dangerous than travelling by boat, but hey thatโs me.
