๐๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ: Gavin Reed is exhausting. Conflict after conflict, reprimand after reprimand. You're tired of putting up with his antics, just like the entire Detroit Police Department. And true to form, testing everyone's patience, Gavin caused another scene - big enough to make dispatch call you for backup. After this latest stunt, you were tasked with taking him home and making sure he didn't cause any more trouble.
๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ/๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ: Enemies with benefits, hate sex, semi-public-ish (wide open front door, but no one around), brief description of one-sided physical fight, getting caught on radio.
๐๐จ๐ญ๐: Hello, my spark keepers! Nice to see you after a long absence. This fic was originally written for Kinktober 2025, but back then I caught a writer's block. Recently I got the idea to start translating my old works while I'm working on my book, and came across a note with this Gavin fic. I re-read it, took a moment to re-think, and decided that it turned out to be quite good. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

A red light glows, and the police car rolls to a smooth stop before the crosswalk. The light bar is off, the road is empty, and raindrops tap against the windows. Gavin, sitting in the passenger seat, has finally gone quiet and sits turned toward the window. Just about an hour ago, even several officers couldn't calm him down when he got into yet another conflict with Connor.
This isn't the scene you expected to witness when dispatch called you back from patrol to assist your colleagues. To say you were surprised that you'd have to break up what was practically a fight between colleagues in the middle of your shift would be an understatement.
You're already stepping out of the car when Gavin once again points his gun at Connor.
"Detective Reed, drop your weapon!" You say, raising your own in response.
"Oh, another angel guardian has shown up, you're our all-around favorite!" Gavin sneers, running his eyes over you before turning his gaze back to the android.
"Gavin, stop." Hank cuts in.
"Yeah, even if I blow his brains out, he'll be standing at the police station door tomorrow like new. He's not human, he didn't give a damn about this bullet! "
"I'm telling you one more time, stop! "
"Fuck off, Hank! Like you don't want to do this yourself!"
You don't have time to get close enough to intervene before Gavin doubles over from a punch to the gut from Hank. Anderson lands another blow, this time to the face, before an officer and Connor drag him aside. You rush over and grab the gun from the ground so Reed can't grab it again, while other officers restrain him. You approach Hank. He's still emotional, but convinces Connor to let him go, promising he won't attack the detective again.
"Maybe he'd show up at the police station after this, but you won't. Don't even bother - Fowler will probably suspend you and kick you out. Enjoy your leave, you bastard."
"Fuck." Gavin mutters and spits out blood while two people still hold him.
You hand Reed's gun to Hank.
"Can you take this idiot home? I have a feeling if we just let him walk away, he'll cause more trouble." Hank addresses you.
You check your watch, and indeed - apparently, on the way here and in the middle of all this chaos, you lost track of time.
"And are you sure he won't..." you turn to look at how Gavin waves off another officer who's trying to give him first aid, "cause an accident or something like that."
Hank makes a thoughtful grimace.
"He shouldn't, but if you're worried, you can cuff him and put him in the back seat."
You smirk at those words, catching Connor doing the same out of the corner of your eye, recognizing from your reaction that it was some kind of joke.
"Alright, I'll get the address from dispatch. Have a good evening, Hank." You say with a smile.
"Oh, it's already wonderful, couldn't possibly be better."
With the same smile, you turn and head toward the car, but it fades at the sight of Detective Reed. You signal to the other officers to come help shove Gavin into the car.
Gavin flat-out refused to sit in the back seat. Just as he refused any medical assistance, so the blood from his nose, while flowing less heavily, hasn't stopped completely. You don't care if he might stain the patrol car - it's not yours anyway - but with every glance at his face, your heart involuntarily tightens. While you're at the traffic light, you pull wet wipes from the glove box and hand them to him.
"Your nose is still bleeding, Detective."
"I don't give a damn."
"Blood stains won't wash out of the car with your complaints alone, and besides... it's painful to look at you."
You don't withdraw your hand even when the light turns green. Snorting, Gavin snatches the wipe from you, but only wipes his face when you turn away.
"Why did you want to shoot Connor?"
Hearing your question, Gavin turns to you with a disbelieving expression on his face.
"Why do you talk about him like he's a living person? He's just a fucking piece of plastic."
"Maybe, but still, why did you intend to shoot him?"
"Are you seriously fucking kidding me? You can 'shoot' a human, not a bucket of bolts. They would have sent us a new one anyway."
"They would have. But in that case, since Connor's malfunction wouldn't have happened during a mission or arrest, but because of you, CyberLife would have had to deduct the cost from not just you, but the entire department. Think about that next time you have a rage flare-up. I don't think with your hatred of androids, you'll be happy paying for their replacement out of every paycheck."
"Pull over, I'm getting the fuck out of here."
In response to those words, you simply lock the car doors. He probably wouldn't have tried to exit a moving vehicle, but this action clearly just angers him more.
"Bitch."
As soon as you arrive, Gavin yanks the door open and steps out. You watch as he, still fuming, heads toward his house, but you aren't done yet. You get out of the car too and follow the detective. The sound of the rain drowns out your footsteps, so Reed doesn't hear you approaching right away. It's only when he unlocks the front door that he catches you out of the corner of his eye, which scares the hell out of him.
"Fuck, damn it! What the hell are you doing here?!"
"I need to make sure you get inside. Lieutenant Anderson's orders."
Gavin steps back from the door and turns to you, inhaling sharply through his nose in irritation.
"Goddamn it, can you stop pissing me off at least when we're off the clock?"
"I'm still on the clock."
"I heard your patrol ended already, so kindly get the fuck out of my doorstep."
"Oh, so Detective Reed can listen, too bad he only does it when it's not necessary." You cross your arms over your chest. "And for your information, although maybe you know it perfectly well and are just pretending not to, it's you who irritates everyone on a daily basis. Seriously, Gavin, what was that today? I see you a few times a week and every time you drag someone into a conflict. Every time it's yelling or a fight. This time it almost turned into a real fight. What is going on with you?"
"The very fact that this bucket of bolts comes to the office every morning like a regular employee drives me crazy. I'm not responsible for the fact that you absolutely don't care that tomorrow an android officer will be behind the wheel of your car." Gavin steps closer to you, pointing his finger in your face.
"Yeah, it doesn't bother me nearly as much as you and your antics do. And you know, sometimes I think I'm the only one who actually gives a damn about you."
"Then don't worry about me. Who the hell do you think you are, my mother?"
"Exactly because of your attitude like that, I want to stopย bailing you outย in front of Fowler."
"Nobody asked you to. If you have a problem with how I treat people - request to patrol the outskirts of Detroit, so you can stay far away from this."
"I'd love to," you raise your eyebrow ironically, keeping a serious expression on your face, and also take a step toward Gavin, so now you're standing right up close, "except this 'problem' actually doesn't want that."
A short curse slips out of Gavin's mouth before he cups your face with his hands and kisses you. No tenderness or romance - just the desire to shut each other up. The angry kiss immediately turns into a messy, sloppy and wet. Both of you would call it disgusting, but not right now. One of Gavin's hands moves to the back of your neck, the other grabs your police jacket and pulls you toward the front door inside the house. You don't get far - you stop right by the hallway. Even if you wanted to look around the house, you wouldn't have time. Gavin, without breaking the kiss, starts unbuttoning your pants. You just roll your eyes at this, because this idiot can't manage anything thanks to the jacket hem getting in the way and his hurry. You start unbuttoning it yourself, but halfway through you stop because you touch something with your hand.
"Shit, the radio!"
"Screw the radio." Gavin can't manage to unzip your pants, but manages to blindly rip the radio off your jacket. You really hope he didn't break it, though you think you heard some kind of click. "Already anticipating your own suspension? How does it feel?"
"Fuck you, Reed." you snap back, wrapping your whole hand around his neck and pulling him closer to resume the kiss. With your other hand, you undo your jacket completely and Gavin tries again to deal with your pants, this time successfully. After pulling them down almost to your hips along with your underwear, he scoops you up and sets you on the side table by the entrance. "Don't you want to close the door?"
"Do you really care about that right now?"
"No, actually." you answer, ignoring the cold stream of air chilling the exposed parts of your body.
Gavin finally strips your pants off completely and gets to work on his own. It doesn't go quickly, though he tries. Immediately after, he pulls you closer to the edge by your hips. No foreplay or exchange of tenderness - rough, jerky thrusts from the very beginning. You wince slightly from discomfort due to lack of lubrication and notice that Gavin does too. But neither of you stops. The side table you're sitting on sways and bumps against the wall. Maybe one of its legs is broken, which is why it's wobbling like that, and it doesn't surprise you at all that such thoughts pop into your head right now. Sex in your colleague's house, whom you mutually dislike, with the door wide open, on an old console table by the entrance, both of you half-naked - not how you imagined the end of a workday after several years working in the police department. You're more than sure that Gavin is incredibly pissed about this too.
Gavin Reed is an asshole, a dick and a jerk, you would never justify him. He attracts you, just as you attract him: youโre both hot, thereโs no denying that. But honestly, if you were asked, youโd answer without hesitation that this is the worst sex of your life, and itโs not getting any better with each time. Maybe if this were happening under different circumstances, not driven by emotion and haste, it would be better, but somehow, you both keep doing it exactly like this, and fuck knows why and how. Maybe because itโs... hot, regardless?
"Gavin, damn..." you breathe out, tilting your head back as it finally starts to feel good, but almost immediately you grab the edge of the side table, bringing your gaze back to Reed. "Ah, fuck! Did I say 'harder'?"
"Sounded exactly like that."
"Go see a doctor, idiot, you have hearing problems."
You lose yourself in the momentย and donโt hear your radio crackling. Eventually, after several such 'warnings', youโre interrupted by Connorโs voice.
"Officer Y/N, I donโt mean to interrupt, but Iโm afraid your radio is on."
You and Gavin freeze, staring at each other with wide eyes.
"Did you turn on my radio?" You whisper.
"No, I didnโt."
"Then what the hell is Connor doing on the line?!"
"Itโs quite possible that Detective Reed accidentally activated your radio."
"Connor, tell me, did anyone else besides you hear anything?" You ask louder, picking up the radio carelessly tossed by Gavin onto the side table, addressing Connor directly now.
"I can guess you want to hear 'no', but I can't give a definite answer."
"Thanks, Connor." You smile nervously and turn off the radio, double-checking several times that you actually did it. Sighing heavily at the realization that a couple of dispatchers likely heard everything that just happened, you look reproachfully at Gavin with an indescribable urge to hit him in the face.
Hi, my pookies, it's been a while! A lot happened, but I'm slowly coming back to writing. I'm working more on my original work, but still feel some itchiness for fanfiction.
I caught myself on this thought a long time ago, and maybe it's finally time to execute it. I have a lot of my works written in my first language for attack on titan and some other fandoms. From time to time I'm coming back to re-read it, and it's still good, even though I wrote them about 4-5 years ago. I'm planning on rewatching and finally finishing AOT, so maybe it's a good idea to translate all those fics for you guys to read, while I work on my own book. Wanted to know your guys opinion on that ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ
"this fic uses em dashes, so it must be ai-generated" real humans use em dashes.
"this fic has long paragraphs with overly described details and scenes, so it must be ai-generated" real humans can write like this.
"this fic has inconsistencies, so it must be ai-generated" real humans make errors and mistakes. that's why we have this thing called plot holes. sometimes writers are tired and they don't remember what they wrote in the last sentences or paragraphs, let alone chapters.
"this fic sounds robotic and unnatural, so it must be ai-generated" not every writer writes in their native language. sometimes they can sound 'robotic and unnatural' if they wrote in their second or third or fourth language (and kudos to them).
"this fic has a prompt left in it that the author forgot to delete, so it must be ai-generated" the 'prompt' the author accidentally left in their fic could actually be a part of an outline that was meant only for them, so they could keep track of what they would write.
"this author posts too often, no human writes this fast, so they must use ai" 1.) you don't know how fast someone can or can't write, how much time a person has in a day or how motivated/skilled they are. 2.) the frequent updates you see could be something that has already been finished and sitting in the author's drafts for god knows how long. just because it's recently posted doesn't always mean it's recently written.
my point? no, you can never know if a fanfic is 'ai-generated'. unless the author says they use ai, you're just assuming, suspecting and witch hunting. chances are that you're not going to 'stop ai fics from being created', you're just going to wrongly accuse genuine writers of using ai and ruin their day at best, make them want to quit writing or sharing their works at worst.

The clutter on Peter's desk, including the keyboard, is pushed aside so that you have a place to sit, at least on the edge. Aunt May is in the house, so even though you've closed the door, you two try to be as quiet as possible. You don't look at each other; his face is somewhere in the curve of your neck, trying to avoid eye contact with you. You lean your head back, biting your lips. Peter's hands rest on your bare waist, pulling you closer to him as he pushes into you with measured thrusts. You love the way he's holding you and how gentle he's being with you, but you know that none of this is meant for you.ย
Aunt May likes you; Uncle Ben likes you. You've been at their house so often that you've been offered to leave some of your things there so that you don't have to 'carry them with you every time'. You have such a close relationship with them that you think of them as your family, just as they do you.ย
Peter exhales into your neck, squeezing your waist tighter. You want to move the hand you're holding on to the edge of the table a little, but in the process you hit the keyboard. This causes the computer screen to light up, and you open your eyes to look at the desktop. On the wallpaper where the picture of you, Peter, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May used to be, now a beautiful blond girl.ย
You thought Peter liked you, too. But it seems that you just wanted to believe he was, and you've been delusional about it for too long. And you still do, because just thinking about it hurts so much.ย
A notification pops up on Peter's phone. He stops immediately and quickly looks at the screen. In the same second, he pulls out of you and starts to put his pants back on. It's not the first time this has happened, so you swallow the 'what's wrong?' question, just as 'is that her?' and remain silent, because you know the answers to them.ย
Peter still doesn't look at you. You don't even get a brief glance. Even so, when he's about to walk out the door, you speak to him.
"Just be careful, okay?"
He freezes for a moment, but it doesn't stop him. You hear Aunt May on the first floor asking where he's going and why he's leaving you alone to finish the project you're supposed to be doing together.ย
But that's not the only thing that hurts. You're sure she knows. She knows who Peter is and what he does, and she knows it because he told her. You found out by accident, but you didn't show any sign, expecting him to explain it to you when the time came. After all, you're the closest people to each other. But he hasn't done it until now, and you don't know if he will.
It seems that you were really delusional. And you still are.ย

It just so happens that I got sick on the exact day I did a post about kinktober๐ฅน All I did all week was sleep because I had a fever and a really bad sore throat. But I seem to be back to normal now. I still have a cough, but I've almost finished one of the two fanfics that were supposed to be published within the first weekโบ๏ธ
Hello, my dears! I decided to participate in the kinktober after all.
I wouldn't be able to write every day, so I made a list with as many prompts as I think I can manage to write.
I won't specify the characters, tags, and so onโI haven't decided on that myself, so the outcome will be as much of a surprise to me as it will be to you.ย
The last time I wrote a fic every week and posted it was almost 5 years ago, so I'm very excited and hope this experience will be a motivation booster for me to keep it up.
Masterlist
Week one:
โข Friends with benefits โ TASM!Peter Parker (Spiderman)
โข Hate sex โ Gavin Reed (Detroit: Become Human)
I was thinking about taking part in kinktober, but I don't quite understand its rules. Can I make my own list of prompts? What else do I need to know about the event itself?
Side question: what other similar -tober things are there?
