Tonight I ran 5. 5 miles with only walking .5 a mile the whole way. Thankful I had a MSN who has been running for 15 years running beside me. He was my constant. He sacrificed his speed so I could go further. He never let me quit. I wanted to. But he pushed me. Then I pushed myself further. Can't wait to stand at the end of his third half marathon in two weeks and embrace him. Then in 4 weeks he will do the same for me at my first half.
Yesterday started with 1.25 miles around the park. Work went by with a few sales but found a new lunch love- Healthy Choice chicken fresca (added more chicken to it for additional protein ) - also side note: I know frozen meals aren't best. There was a day when meal prep was engraved in my schedule. But there is also the present time in my life where that once loved time doesn't exist due to increased work loads. I choose healthy choice because out of all of the other options they are better for me and my budget. I left work, drove to workout, hoped on a treadmill saying I was just going to warm up. I ended up selecting the 5k workout and busted it out in 36 mins. My fastest treadmill time. I hate treadmills. But they also challenge me because I can push myself to run faster. So I did, bumping the speed up to 7.5 mph at the home stretch. I finished my run, hit the weights for half an hour, ran errands and headed home to play hide and go seek with the kids. Had a healthy taco salad for dinner. Nutrition is key in this journey. Its been one thing I've constantly had to battle with. Thankful for the motivation to get back on track.
This girl was the reason I got out of bed. My alarm went off at 6:05 am and I rolled back over praying she wouldn’t text. 6:30, my phone vibrates and as much as I wished it was just some random notification it was a text with two words- you awake?
Two words is all it took. As much as I wanted to lie in the bed. I rolled out(quite literally actually) threw my hair up, washed my face, and walked out the door. I was a grump when I got to the park. She’d compliment me and I’d shoot her down. We started the run and soon enough she did something funny and the laughter began.
This girl is one of my game changers. She pushes me to keep going. I’m thankful for those two words. I’m thankful that she puts up with my crappy mornings and helps turn them into better ones.
Who’s that game changer for you?
I wasn't happy with my baseline last night. After watching loscrossfit bust through his I decided to do it again. I was already in the bed with my pj's on. 3:11 later I'm breathing heavy and hoping I didn't wake anyone during my burpees (didn't do big jumps like normal but still busted through them) Original base was 3:26. I did ab mat sit ups and beginner pushups. Tonight I did normal sit ups and full pushups. Pushups are my weakness. By the end of #fitbyfourth I want to be strong enough to do 2 rounds of 10 straight or all 20 straight! Either way I'm glad I decided to challenge myself tonight.
#fitbyfourthonesong
So we were asked to come up that one song. That one song that no matter what your mood- it gets you pumped. For me it'd have to be "Hall of Fame" by The Script. I dont know what it is but ever since training for my first 5k, that song hasn't left the mix.
What's your one song?
Baseline- 3:26 40 air squats 30 sit ups 20 pushups (did girl ones ) 10 burpees (full jump and all) Total workout tonight: 35 mins on the bike (2.5 miles) Baseline Then 3 sets of 10 of each: Leg press (90lbs) Ab swings Decline sit ups with 8lb ball toss Reverse crunches Oblique crunches with 10lb weight All in all it was a solid night.
Dear you, Yeah that’s you in a squat rack. You squated 85lbs and could have done more. But you paced yourself knowing you had a long run on Saturday to get through. So here it is- July 4th. You’ve completed the #fitbyfourth challenge and your now squating so much more. You also ran your first half like a beast. Those leg presses, squats, and hill training really helped as you busted through the Red Top trails. You have failed some through this journey but despite your failures you didn’t let them always win. You got up and reset your focus back on the goal- health and fitness. You heard a story in the store on that day of a 1,000 lb woman who needed two king size mattresses just to lie on. You’ve been reminded of where you came from. 233. Your highest measured weight. These 7 weeks have helped you click back into the zone and now your focused to finish your goal of hitting 130 by your birthday. You’ve got this. You have the ability and fire to do it. Beast mode it baby and never forget that you are not defined by that person in your past. Who you are today is stronger, healthier, and faster than before.
Love, You
