Substrate's basically the stuff bugs and small animals live in. When you keep a little animal you're supposed to provide some so it's comfortable, they can bury themselves in if they want, and, in your case, make sure it doesn't hurt your feet.
It varies what it made out of depending on the animal, usually something like sand or sawdust or ground oats, but it's basically like a carpet mixed with soil purpose-wise.
Let's try a shoebox for now, and line it with some cloth-
Add a little food dish - Are you allergic to anything? I'm thinking of getting you some grapes or strawberries so you can stay hydrated without needing a water dish or a sipper water bottle (The former could be a drowning hazard, and the latter is kinda embarrassing so I won't install one unless it looks like it's gonna take a while)
As for entertainment, how about a shallow container of sawdust for digging, your phone on sideways mode and a little bean bag to use like a TV, and... I can't think of anything else.
Finally, a toilet and a bed.
Unfortunately, I can't do plumbing so I'm just gonna give you this novelty Toilet Candy container (Yes, these are a Thing) and fill it up with sawdust, and that should work for now.
Next get a matchbox, add a doll mattress and a square of thicker fabric, and you have a bed!
