I truly think the fact you can go on social media and find tutorials for most things you could want to try or learn is a really cool thing but I have an issue with how entitled to someone's else's skill or time people can become because of that expectation like instead of buying art from an artist people just want a lengthy filmed well edited video showing how the art is made or instead of buying cookbooks from people it's expected to see a step by step in a reel for free

And I think making things as accessible and available is often a good thing but I also think it's important to respect the notion that not everyone is selling lessons or is obligated to show you their process or welcome imitation

For a lot of artists their process took years of trial and error and effort to learn and I wish people could also respect that not everyone wants to make that precious experience readily consumable for free or at all!

And it's not about gatekeeping or not wanting other people to try things, it's just not everything is made to be recreated or dissected by strangers. A work process can be personal and it's supposed to be a decision whether we share these things and who with, not an obligation or expectation.

People don't respect or want to pay artists and then want great art to keep existing at their leisure and I think that's really foolish and really disregards the humanity, emotions, and sacrifice real humans make to be artists and always have.
