Hyunjin is sitting down by his table when he notices your phone on the other side recording. He was excited to see what challenge you had in store for him (since they were always so cute and wholesome) today, so he pretended like he didnât notice and went back to sketching.Â
What he didnât expect though, was for you to tap his shoulder so soon. He turns around and looks at you with love diving in the pools of his irises. When he sees you leaning down, he closes them immediately.Â
Hyunjinâs shoulders automatically drop the second your lip presses against his, and one finger already grabs onto your jean loop to pull you into him. He places his top lip between yours and tilts his head to slot them perfectly, with his next hand coming up to your face to hold it, his thumb stroking your cheek.
When you try to pull away to stop the camera, he tugs even harder, effectively flushing your body to his. Pressing his lips back on yours, and devouring what is rightfully his. Challenge be damned.

a/n another picker wheel moment. idk why but the picker wheel always comes in handy when i need to write angst. not much shota though (or any at all, he doesn't make a physical appearance) and i'm sorry. also, please remember that this is a figment of my imagination. literally just a story that i conjured up in my mind. do not take this seriously, please. NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS REAL! anyway, happy reading!!
Sometimes, the things you donât expect are the things that happen to you. You werenât someone who lets just anyone into your heart. Your circle was small and your love life was even smaller.Â
You didnât trust anyone, and it took a very long time for you to even think about opening up to other people. You were overly cautious about life because you saw what life did to your vibrant older sister. The way life sucked the joy out of her eyes and played in her face time and time again.Â
Your older sister was always full of joy and whimsy. She was funny, smart, talkative and very popular. She always had friends over, and all of the boys in school were head over heels in love with her.Â
To you, she was the ultimate role model, and you wanted to be just like her when you got to her age. Then, she started university, went off to a different prefecture, and barely came back home. She would always answer your texts but never your calls.Â
You got concerned by the odd behavior, especially considering the fact that you and your sister were always so close, even if she was about four years older. When you explained it to your mom, she convinced you that your sister was fine and that she was probably just busy with university work. University was harder than high school after all.Â
But then you were suddenly in 10th grade, and your sister came back from break. She was clinging onto a guy who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but in their house. He had the standard politeness that made your mom and dad not worry about your sister, but you saw through his facade.Â
Your sister was popular and funny and smart and talkative, but she was also independent and headstrong and not clingy. Sheâs had a boyfriend before, and even when they were together, she never clung to him like sheâs doing with her boyfriend now. You knew that something was wrong.Â
You just never expected that it would quickly take a turn for the worst. You never expected to almost lose your sister. You never expected your beautiful and popular older sister to become such a huge shell of herself after what that boyfriend of hers did to her.Â
He isolated her, abused her, and made her fall completely in love with him, only to cheat on her. When she tried to leave, he completely turned her friend group against her. She had almost lost everything because of this boyfriend.Â
You hated what he did to her, but you also hated that she just let him do all of that to her. When you finally worked up the courage to ask why, she said that was because she was in love. She poured every piece of her heart and soul into him.
That was when you decided not to make the same mistake that she did. When you decided not to open your heart for anyone ever.Â
Yet, here you are. Standing in front of the train station, staring at the clock that moves further and further away from your meeting time with Shota. Wrapping your scarf tightly and squeezing your coat just as tight as you shiver from the cold nipping at your skin.Â
It was currently 4:12 p.m. Shota had agreed to meet at the station for 3, and you had already checked your phone for the 12th time to make sure you were in front of the right station. Itâs fine, maybe he overslept. Maybe an emergency happened and he didnât have the time to let you know that he wasnât coming or that he was late.Â
This was the first time Shotaâs been late for a date, so maybe you can give him some grace. After all, he was just so kind and weird. You havenât seen someone so unapologetically them in such a long time.Â
You didnât trust people easily, but you trusted Shota. You loved him. And you knew he loved you back just as much.Â
He was just running late, thatâs all. Heâll either show up soon, or text. He would never leave you out in the cold after planning this date.Â
Thatâs not the kind of person Haku Shota is.Â
But now the sunâs setting and itâs almost 5pm and itâs getting colder. Itâs okay though. Shotaâs just busy.Â
You should call him, see where he is.Â
Ring. ring.Â
Ring. ring.Â
The number you have dialed canât take your call now. At the tone, please record-Â
Itâs fine, Shotaâs just busy.Â
PING!Â
You immediately open LINE to see a message from Shota, causing your heart to race in your chest.Â
Shota-kun: Something came up, canât make it. Message will probably send when Iâm in an area with wifi. Donât wait for me, go home.Â
Your heart drops at his message, and your hand slowly loses its grip on your phone.Â
Hahaha, you were right. He was busy. And he didnât have wifi. That makes so much sense.Â
You should probably text him and tell him that youâre home. Whereâd your phone go? You swore it was in your hand just a second ago.Â
Wait, whyâs the view so blurry? You donât know, but you really need to find your phone and go home. Hahaha, it finally feels so much better to hear from Shota. You should probably go home now.Â
You bend down and pick up your phone from the ground, turning it around and sighing in relief to see that it wasnât cracked. Then you shakily typed out a reply.Â
You: Okay, donât mind. Went home a while ago after seeing you not show up. Hope youâre okay, we can always reschedule for next time.Â
You press send when your vision goes blurry again, and turn around to catch a train home. This was something small. It was fine.Â
As long as Shotaâs safe, you were happy. He didnât stand you up on purpose, and he even messaged you.Â
As long as you didnât cling onto him. As long as you didnât act like your sister.Â
this was very self indulgent if you couldn't tellđââïž

genre idol!au, besties to lovers, confession, valentine themed fic

word count 1,341 words (nice and short)
a/n i just wanted to write a valentine themed fic because i've never done it before. so happy valentine's day to those who enjoy the holiday, and happy reading!
âITâS TIIIIIIIIIME!â you sing joyfully once you enter the practice room where all of your favorite boys are.
Everyone flinches violently at your screeching, everyone except your best friend. He looks up at you from his phone with a deadpan expression. Then sighs out loud at your disturbance.
âMariah Carey could never.â He says to you, wanting to laugh when you immediately walk over to him in excitement.
âI know right? She ainât got nothing on me.â You confidently respond.
âNo, like she really could never. Even on her worst day, sheâd still sound better than you did just now.â Keeho retorts.
Your mouth drops open at the sudden insult, and you stop in your tracks. The gasp you let out is equally as loud and incredulous, and everyone shakes their heads at your overdramatized display.
âYoon Stephen Keeho you take that back right now. Mariah Carey has fallen off of her throne of grace and now I must rule in her place, we all know this.â You say to him.
âDouble it and pass it on, the throne shouldn't even be in your sight.â
âThis is why I didn't get you any chocolate, you don't deserve any.â You say pettily.
Everyoneâs head perks up at the mention of chocolate, and they all get up to surround you.
âYes, yes. Calm down kids, thereâs enough chocolate for everyone. We do this every year.â You tell the guys.
Thatâs when everyone stops and pulls out their phones.
Itâs Valentine's Day! No wonder youâre giving them chocolate. Their schedules were so busy that they forgot about it.
âAre there any notes for us this year as well?â Jongseob asks you.
You nod enthusiastically and hand him the blue envelope that was specifically for him alongside his favorite chocolate. He gives you a small side hug and thanks you. You repeat this process four more times, not giving hugs to those who don't want it because you respect boundaries.
After the chocolates and everything are distributed, your best friend slowly walks up to you with a pout settling on his lips. He puts his hand out to you and averts his eyes to look at everything but you.
âWhat's your hand out for? Want a handshake from me or something?â You ask cheekily.
âDonât play with me. Give me my chocolate.â He snarkily replies.
âI donât have any chocolate for you, I already told you that.â You tell him.
Keeho snatches the bag from your shoulder to see more chocolate in there, but none of them are attached to the infamous pink envelope you usually have just for him.
âThen who are all of these chocolates for?â Keeho asks you, confused.
â82Major, duh! Timmy and the boys all deserve some love, too!â You answer happily.
You go over to Shota to talk to him, and Keeho pouts. Youâve been friends with him since 5th grade. Ever since 8th, youâve always given him chocolate on Valentineâs Day (except for when he went to Korea to pursue a career in the kpop industry).
Always his favorite with the infamous pink envelope and his name written on it for him to read later. Granted, heâs never had the courage to open any of them since he's always seen them as obligatory and would rather not crush his own heart by getting his hopes up and not seeing what he wants to see on there. But despite that fact, youâve always given him one.
Keeho doesn't understand why youâre not giving him any now. Keeho doesn't understand what heâs done wrong.
đŁČ
The next day, Keeho wakes up with an attitude. Unfortunately for everyone else, he makes it their problem. The maknaeâs are in a corner talking about the contents of their letters and it just dampens Keehoâs mood even more.
Why do they get chocolate and a heartfelt note this year? They knew you because of him but only they can get chocolates and not him? This was absurd.
He sulked and sulked the entire day. All throughout their breaks, during their practices, during their recordings. All he did was sulk and ask why he didn't get a chocolate when he always did.
When you showed up later that day, he didn't even want to speak to you. So he walked out of the room without even acknowledging you. You didn't even follow him, just looked at the guys with a sorry smile.
âHe sulked all day, didn't he? Sorry to put you guys through that.â You apologized.
âDonât sweat it. Heâs the idiot who didn't read your letter last year. You had to get him to read it somehow.â Jiung tells you, encourages you.
âYeah. Dude could've been in a relationship now if he didn't hoard the envelopes like a creep.â Theo jokes.
Everyone laughs. You rub your nape. You hope he actually goes to his vocal room and sees the obviously not obligatory chocolate you placed on the table.
đŁČ
Keeho smiles like an idiot once he notices the chocolate on his table. He picks it up and turns around to run back to the practice room to brag about it. Then he notices the slight mess in your handwriting that has him stopping in his tracks.
To: Keeho
âOpen It As Soon As You See It Bro Iâm Not Kiddingâ
He contemplates on whether he should or shouldn't. He knows it's obligatory, but maybe this year it isn't? Oh who is he kidding, itâs always obligatory and itâs always gonna be.
But you wouldn't tell him to open it if it wasn't important. Maybe some big news is in the infamous pink envelope this year. He should open it.
He carefully peels off the red heart sticker that closes his envelope down for the first time, and pulls out the paper inside of it. He opens it with shaky hands and slowly reads every word that you wrote on the page.
The longer he reads, the more his eyes well with tears. You actually like him. The chocolates were never an obligation to you. You confessed through those envelopes a while ago. A long while ago.
Keeho realizes just how stupid he was. He finishes the letter and places it back in the envelope, and then walks back to the practice room quickly. When he gets inside, none of the other members are there.
Itâs just you by the mirror with your back pressed to it, hunched over your laptop as you scroll through a website to window shop. You look up to see your best friend with tears in his eyes and immediately get up to comfort him.
And when youâre close enough that he can reach out to you, he pulls you in, cups your face and kisses you. Keeho kisses the breath out of your lungs and the feeling out of your legs. He bites your bottom lip before pulling away, and stares into your eyes.
âIâm an idiot.â He says, resolutely.
âYes you are.â You say back to him.
âYouâre in love with me.â He follows up.
âYes I am.â You respond.
âIâm in love with you, too.â Keeho declares.
âI would hope so. You kissed my legs into jelly.â You cheekily respond.
âAnd Iâm going to do it again.â Keeho asserts.
Then he captures your lips once again.
đŁČ BONUS
Keeho walks over to his closest, looks to the floor and moves a few of his crates over to get to the back of it. When he picks up the green shoebox he was looking for, he has to dust them off.
There, he opens up the box to the first ever pink envelope you ever gave him. Your handwriting is a little more wiggly, but itâs yours and it makes him smile all the same.
To: Keeho
âHappy Valentineâs Day. If You Open This In Front Of Me Youâre Dead!â
He peels off the red heart sticker and opens the envelope to see the first letter. He cries before he even unfolds it. This was going to be a long night.

a/n i honestly didn't know who to write about so i just put every single person i write for in pickerwheel and let it pick for me! as you can see, it chose yang jeongin! i wanted to try my hand at the (insert kpop artist here) calling their significant other clingy, but then i just ended up writing how i would more than likely react should i ever be in that situation. also, please remember that this is a figment of my imagination. literally just a story that i conjured up in my mind. do not take this seriously, please. NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS REAL! anyway, happy reading!!
You noticed something was off the minute you walked into the practice room, and your boyfriend didnât greet you the way he usually would. On good practice days, he engulfed you with his sweaty body and spun you around. On harsh ones, he was a bit upset, but still had the decency to acknowledge your presence, and let you know that he was a bit down in the dumps.Â
The relationship wasnât old enough for you to just understand him, but it also wasnât new enough where you knew virtually nothing about him. Hence, why you knew something was off. Jeongin laid on the floor, chest rising and falling rapidly, trying to bring air back into his lungs at a frantic pace.Â
The other members look at you with tight smiles, and they all pass you with a little greeting or a comforting nudge. You even got one from Minho (who doesnât like touching you â so you know something was wrong), and it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The boys all left you alone, the dance instructor left, the staff left, heck even the cameramen left, yet Yang Jeongin stayed on the floor with his chest inflating and deflating and his arms over his eyes.Â
You stood by the door in a kind of awkward fear that youâve never felt around Jeongin before. Youâve always been not that great at comforting people, and since the relationship was still just a tad bit new, youâve never really been in a predicament as dire as this, so you had no idea how to deal with the egregious decline in your boyfriendâs mood.Â
But you knew that something was wrong. So, you willed your legs to move, and you sat in front of the mirror closest to your boyfriend. You notice a bottle of water left standing there, and slowly reach over to grab it, alongside a towel. Then you scooch over to him and sit beside him with the stuff in your hand, ready to give it to him.Â
He notices your presence when you get close enough for your arm to touch his knee, and he moves his hands abruptly to look at you. There was a certain emotion swimming in his eyes that you canât particularly place, but itâs something you didnât like seeing all the same. You hand him the towel and water bottle with shaky hands, but your hands get tired of holding them up the longer your boyfriend stares at you and doesnât make headway to take them.Â
Your hands drop at the indirect rejection, and you blink rapidly as your mind immediately starts to fill in the gaps that didnât exactly need your input. Then your boyfriend slowly picks himself up.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â He asks, a tilt in his tone that feels accusatory to you all of a sudden.Â
âI wanted to see you today.â You slowly respond, your mind blaring off sirens at the tone he used on you that you couldnât exactly tell the emotion of.Â
You prided yourself in being able to read people, their body language, their intonation, their gestures. Years of being silent and observing people around you made you better at noticing the patterns in people like that, but for some reason, the switch up in your boyfriend throws off your pattern recognition because itâs a negative reaction coming from someone whoâs never negative to you.Â
âAnd you couldnât text me to let me know this beforehand?â He asks, eying you up and down in a way that feels wrong, as if he was scrutinizing you with contempt.Â
âI wanted it to be a surprise. Canât really be one if I run it by you.â You explain, blinking quicker and quicker and looking everywhere, but at him.Â
âWhat if I didnât want to see you today, (name)? What if today and the last four days that youâve wanted to see me were days where I didnât want to see you?â He asks, his voice getting a little louder towards the end in a way that makes you flinch.Â
Jeongin notices, and then sighs out in what you assume is frustration.Â
âIâm all for a surprise or two every once in a while, but this has been the same excuse youâve given me for the last five times youâve shown up here (name), and thatâs been in the last week. If you have nothing better to do with your time, then maybe you should find a hobby or a job, and stop randomly showing up to mine.â Jeongin continues.Â
He pushes himself up from the wooden floor, and walks over to his bag with a limp and a battered spirit. And you? Youâre still sitting on the floor with a water bottle in one hand and a towel in the next, blinking a million times a second and trying to figure out why your senses are going haywire right now after the words your boyfriend just said to you.Â
Before you can even start to process the obvious implications of his speech, he opens his mouth again.Â
âYâknow. When we first started dating, I enjoyed it. You always communicated with me about meeting up and setting boundaries and I just went along with whatever you said because it made sense to me. But then you started texting more. Spamming really. Sending random messages at almost all hours of the day. Randomly showing up when Iâm working and expecting me to stop doing my job just to take care of you. Youâve gotten so clingy.â He rants.Â
You look up at him to try and read his lips because this voice starts to grate at your ears. Your eyes canât focus on him anymore. The floor is too hot, your pants feel too itchy, your arms feel too heavy, your shoes are too tight, your throat is slowly closing and your mouth feels dry.Â
The tag on the back of your shirt is making itself known and it feels very disturbing on your nape. Everything just feels wrong.Â
You slowly stand up with wobbly legs, holding onto the water bottle in one hand and the towel in the other, and the only thing thatâs clear enough for you to understand is your brain yelling at you to GET OUT NOW.Â
You look up at Jeongin to see him looking up at you expectantly even though you have no idea as to why. Then you bow at him like you did when you first met, jumbled up apologies slipping past your lips, and you walk over to your bag to pick it up. Only for your hands to be full.Â
What were they full with again? You canât remember. You stretched out your two smaller fingers to grab it, and you scurry over to the door. It opens before you could even reach it.Â
Chan looks up to see you flustered in a way he hasnât seen in a while, and instinctively reaches out to touch you. You notice the hurt on his face when you step so far back from him so that he wouldnât touch you. You slip past him and out of the door because your brain is still telling you to leave and youâre so uncomfortable that you couldnât agree with it more.Â
