I am a hardcore believer that All, and I do mean ALL, disorders and disordered thinking stem from ordinary human nature and behaviors turned up to 11. Hallucinations, rituals, low empathy, self-centered bias, lashing out, anxiety, obsessive thinking, thought spirals... All of these things are things that every human has experienced in their lifetime at least once, if not multiple times or even frequently.

The disorder part of it is how negatively it affects your life or inner experience, when it becomes a regular disruptor from normal function.

Which is also why it's impossible to say any one thing causes a specific mental illness, because some people can deal with things situationally, some people are more inclined through genetics, some people develop it over the course of experiences from external environments, and oftentimes it's a combination.

Because we all have these things within us, but everyone is more or less inclined to handle their internal in different ways.

All of the more ostracized mental disorders are so much more relatable than anyone actually wants to admit or see, and they all stem from fairly ordinary human experiences just like the other, more frequently discussed, disorders
