My body is already an inhospitable environment, thereâs no way a friggin baby would be able to survive in it
Also babies canât even fight, how would they fare in battle against my inner demons?

Target begs the gays to come back with huge Pride collection
Target gargles fascism even harder and releases NO Pride collection at all
Target pisses off everyone by releasing a Pride collection but it's half-assed
goes without saying the boycott is still on and absolutely NOTHING target does now or in the future will be good enough to forget or ignore their enthusiastic support of this fascist regime
CONGRATS EVERYONE they released a half-assed Pride collection so fast they forgot to remove the placeholder text on all the tags lol
Yeah not only did they not write copy for the tags, they made the least rainbow Pride collection possible. Like. These are the clothes:
I'm not surprised given this is a company that recently fired 2 of its DEI executives, but still. Bleak.

FTH 2025 Donation Totals
Friends, this has been an extraordinary year for the auction. We know how and why this happened: like in early 2017, everyone is scared and upset and looking for a way to do something meaningful.
Andâjust like in 2017, and every year sinceâhundreds of us have stepped up to support our most vulnerable neighbors and the organizations working to protect them.
Except this year, we did it on a scale we've never done before.
Last year, our donation total was an incredible $67,776.28
This year's donation total...
are you ready for it....
(you're not ready for it. we weren't.)
This year's donation total is:
I'm in FTH!
*crawls out of my cave* Um hi. How've y'all been?
Dusting off this account to promote my offerings in Fandom Trump's Hate! It's a fandom auction where all proceeds go to charity (there's a list to pick from!)
You can see them here but let me explain briefly here too. My first offering is to beta! I'll beta your fic from any fandom I've been in before, so that's Kingdom Hearts, Baldur's Gate 3, Legend of Zelda: BOTW/TOTK or Skyward Sword, Final Fantasy XIV or XV. I haven't created for the following fandoms but I would still be down to clown for: Cult of the Lamb, Nier: Replicant and Automata, or Persona 3, 4, or 5.
The second offering is to write you a fanfic between 1k - 5k words! (The technically minimum words is 0 but like I would not do that to you). Same fandom(s) as above but please take note of my ship preferences in the FTH official offering posts. More than likely, if you see this, you already somewhat know me and know what I fuck with and don't so. Y'know.
Anyway, bidding is open from right now to March 1st so if you would like to bid on me (or anyone else!) don't wait! :) I myself plan to bid on about 2. There's SO many offerings of all kinds of fandom works so please take a look!
Thanks for reading, y'all.
Fandom Trumps Hate 2025 Calendar
We're back, folks! FTH is back for be our ninth (!) auction, and there's lots of good work to be done. (What is Fandom Trumps Hate?)
In this post you'll find the calendar for the 2025 auction, along with links to some useful information, including this year's list of supported organizations. (All of these same links can be found in our masthead, but since that's not visible on mobile we wanted to make them easy to find elsewhere.) You'll also find dates for our Crafts Bazaar.
Here is this year's list of supported organizations. We'll be posting more detailed profiles of each of them over the coming weeks. We also encourage you to look at the Auction FAQ (which has lots of useful information for people thinking about signing up as creators, as well as dedicated sections on bidding and on nonprofit orgs.) If you're raring to go, you can look at our bidding policies.
Lastly, in a couple of weeks we'll be kicking off our newly-revived offscreen activism blog @fthaction. Why not give it a follow?
FTH2025 Auction Calendar
Monday, January 20th: creator signups open for both the auction and the crafts bazaar
Sunday, February 2nd: creator signups close; craft bazaar signups remain open!
Friday, February 21st: browsing period begins, crafts bazaar opens
Tuesday, February 25th, 8am ET: bidding opens
Saturday, March 1st, 8pm ET: auction bidding closes
Monday, March 10th: craft stalls close
Wednesday, March 12th: proof of donations due
Wednesday, December 31st: fanworks due
...and if you're thinking the gap between the end of signups and the beginning of browsing period looks long: we have also noticed this! In order to accommodate some back-end changes that will help the auction run more smoothly, we've given ourselves an extra week to get ourselves set up. We've also got some stuff in the works to occupy that time -- we'll say more about that when the time arrives.
Together, we're going to make sure that there is at least one (1) good thing in the world with the number 2025 attached to it.

I really thought i could finish these in 2 week when i barely have free time lmao

So... I found this and now it keeps coming to mind. You hear about "life-changing writing advice" all the time and usually its really notâbut honestly this is it man.
I'm going to try it.
I love the lawyer metaphor, because whenever I see âJohn knew that...â in prose writing I immediately think âhow? How does he know it?â Interrogate your witnesses. Cross-examine them. Make them explain their reasoning. It pays dividends.
All of this, but also feels/felt. My editor has forbidden me from using those and itâs forced me to stretch my skills.
[Link to the article for screen-readers]
[ID: The full text of an article. It reads:
"Writing Advice": by Charles Palahniuk- In six seconds, youâll hate me.
But in six months, youâll be a better writer.
From this point forward â at least for the next half year â you may not use âthoughtâ verbs. These include: Thinks, Knows, Understands, Realizes, Believes, Wants, Remembers, Imagines, Desires, and a hundred others you love to use.
The list should also include: Loves and Hates.
And it should include: Is and Has, but weâll get to those, later.
Until some time around Christmas, you canât write: Kenny wondered if Monica didnât like him going out at nightâŚâ
Thinking is abstract. Knowing and believing are intangible. Your story will always be stronger if you just show the physical actions and details of your characters and allow your reader to do the thinking and knowing. And loving and hating.
Instead, youâll have to Un-pack that to something like: âThe mornings after Kenny had stayed out, beyond the last bus, until heâd had to bum a ride or pay for a cab and got home to find Monica faking sleep, faking because she never slept that quiet, those mornings, sheâd only put her own cup of coffee in the microwave. Never his.â
Instead of characters knowing anything, you must now present the details that allow the reader to know them. Instead of a character wanting something, you must now describe the thing so that the reader wants it.
Instead of saying: âAdam knew Gwen liked him.â
Youâll have to say: âBetween classes, Gwen was always leaned on his locker when heâd go to open it. Sheâd roll her eyes and shove off with one foot, leaving a black-heel mark on the painted metal, but she also left the smell of her perfume. The combination lock would still be warm from her ass. And the next break, Gwen would be leaned there, again.â
In short, no more short-cuts. Only specific sensory detail: action, smell, taste, sound, and feeling.
Typically, writers use these âthoughtâ verbs at the beginning of a paragraph (In this form, you can call them âThesis Statementsâ and Iâll rail against those, later) In a way, they state the intention of the paragraph. And what follows, illustrates them.
For example:
âBrenda knew sheâd never make the deadline. Traffic was backed up from the bridge, past the first eight or nine exits. Her cell phone battery was dead. At home, the dogs would need to go out, or there would be a mess to clean up. Plus, sheâd promised to water the plants for her neighborâŚâ
Do you see how the opening âthesis statementâ steals the thunder of what follows? Donât do it.
If nothing else, cut the opening sentence and place it after all the others. Better yet, transplant it and change it to: Brenda would never make the deadline.
Thinking is abstract. Knowing and believing are intangible. Your story will always be stronger if you just show the physical actions and details of your characters and allow your reader to do the thinking and knowing. And loving and hating.
Donât tell your reader: âLisa hated Tom.â
Instead, make your case like a lawyer in court, detail by detail. Present each piece of evidence. For example:
âDuring role call, in the breath after the teacher said Tomâs name, in that moment before he could answer, right then, Lisa would whisper-shout: âButt Wipe,â just as Tom was saying, âHereâ.â
One of the most-common mistakes that beginning writers make is leaving their characters alone. Writing, you may be alone. Reading, your audience may be alone. But your character should spend very, very little time alone. Because a solitary character starts thinking or worrying or wondering.
For example: Waiting for the bus, Mark started to worry about how long the trip would take..â
A better break-down might be: âThe schedule said the bus would come by at noon, but Markâs watch said it was already 11:57. You could see all the way down the road, as far as the Mall, and not see a bus. No doubt, the driver was parked at the turn-around, the far end of the line, taking a nap. The driver was kicked back, asleep, and Mark was going to be late. Or worse, the driver was drinking, and heâd pull up drunk and charge Mark seventy-five cents for death in a fiery traffic accidentâŚâ
A character alone must lapse into fantasy or memory, but even then you canât use âthoughtâ verbs or any of their abstract relatives.
Oh, and you can just forget about using the verbs forget and remember.
No more transitions such as: âWanda remember how Nelson used to brush her hair.â
Instead: âBack in their sophomore year, Nelson used to brush her hair with smooth, long strokes of his hand.â
Again, Un-pack. Donât take short-cuts.
Better yet, get your character with another character, fast. Get them together and get the action started. Let their actions and words show their thoughts. You -- stay out of their heads.
And while youâre avoiding âthoughtâ verbs, be very wary about using the bland verbs âisâ and âhave.â
One of the most-common mistakes that beginning writers make is leaving their characters alone.
For example:
âAnnâs eyes are blue.â
âAnn has blue eyes.â
Versus:
âAnn coughed and waved one hand past her face, clearing the cigarette smoke from her eyes, blue eyes, before she smiledâŚâ
Instead of bland âisâ and âhasâ statements, try burying your details of what a character has or is, in actions or gestures. At its most basic, this is showing your story instead of telling it.
And forever after, once youâve learned to Un-pack your characters, youâll hate the lazy writer who settles for: âJim sat beside the telephone, wondering why Amanda didnât call.â
Please. For now, hate me all you want, but donât use âthoughtâ verbs. After Christmas, go crazy, but Iâd bet money you wonât. End ID]
#this is decent advice#the trick is to know when to use a complex sentence vs a boring sentence#in my opinion#if youâre using the style suggested#it can have HUGE benefit to then drop in a âmc sat by the phone and wondered why she didnât callâ#bc now you are establishing that bro my guy#she hates you#and the character doesnât have the awareness to know it#I also feel strongly about giving the reader a break#sometimes this style gets heavy#I donât agree with the is has thing tho#like itâs more important to find new ways to use them#by which I mean!#go for things like âDuo is TV Staticâ or âDuo has ants where his blood should beââ
^that
I also want to say that...this is really good advice *for editing*, until this sort of thing becomes second nature, if it ever does. If you get stuck pulling a "but I can't just say 'he felt awful'" and it means you're not getting words down, toss this rule out and write "he felt awful". You can edit it later, if it turns out to need it. Sometimes those short little sentences work, as @amberlyinviolet points out in the tags above.
I think the funniest expression of dogshit media analysis skills recently was "Hades Supergiant is condoning incest because Zagreus and Thanatos are half-siblings." Like oh shit did the Greek gods do something problematic????

[Ao3 link] (now live!)
This AU popped into my head when I was doing the matches, and I was like, âWho likes AUs? Ah, I know. Mira!â so I assigned myself to be your gifter. I understood your request to mean âif you write angst, give it a happy endingâ, not âplease write me angst with a happy ending and not something elseâ. I hope I interpreted that correctly, because this story is not very angsty. It does, however, have a happy ending. I really hope you enjoy it, and happy holidays!
P.S. The name of Shionâs town in this story, Maceria, means âwallâ.
â
Shion sat before his easel, frowning as he idly scraped his palette knife back and forth against the edge of his palette. The said palette was a riot of colour, adorned with daubs of all the rainbow colours and splashes of all the unnameable colours in between. Blues and greys predominated, however, giving the impression that Shion might be painting a mystical ocean, perhaps under a sunset or struck by a fiery storm.
Shionâs smock was similarly adorned with flecks of colour, which he hadnât even noticed before. This particular painting tended to cast a hypnotic spell on him, blotting out great chunks of time and holding his focus against all the needs of his body. Hunger, thirst, and exhaustion were no problem when in front of this canvas.
The trouble was, Shion didnât actually know what he was painting. It wasnât that he had no plan. Most, if not all of his artworks, were carefully planned beforehand. Clients had certain expectations after all. Shion specialised in portraits, and because paintings were expensive, they were usually portraits for the wealthy, so they had to be done right. So maybe this painting was a portrait? Shion didnât know.
He didnât know because his brain simply could not comprehend what he put down on the canvas every time he sat down before it. He could see shapes and colours, but when he tried to focus on them, they went fractal, kaleidoscopic.
The only thing he did know was that the painting compelled him. Every time he thought of discarding it, he got a feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. It was irrational to feel like painting over, discarding, or donating a canvas for re-use was a crime akin to murder. And yet.
