Kai’s deflection of Jae Rim’s admittedly half-hearted offer of friendship makes the man laugh quietly. “Acquaintances it is.” With a glance down at his drink, he sniffs and looks back at the woman Kai had referred to early, only to find her looking at them sulkily and pressed up against someone else like it was going to make Jae Rim jealous. He laughs and wiggles his fingers at her, and very pointedly turns his back so he’s completely facing you, and very much not facing her.
"Yeah? Who else have you met?" His brows furrow just slightly. There are only so many choices, and that kind of information is a potential life saver, especially for his pups, his pack. "Wait- I’ll guess," he practically interrupts himself and grins. "It’s… Mm… I doubt it’s Chae. Kris, maybe? Jaejoongie?" He drags his finger around the rim of his drink before lifting it back to his mouth. He gazes unblinking at the beautiful kid in front of him. He’s always had a thing for the beautiful: be it nature, human, fashion, art, or in between, beauty tugs a grudging respect from him. He respects perfection.
He wasn't sure which was funnier: the alpha male's fluffed ego or the tragically desperate tramp trying to sling two fish in one net. He still wondered why Jaerim bothered to entertain him when he could too easily have a beautiful woman swallowing every word he spilled from his lips like it was honey on her tongue. With him, it required a bit more input for the output, undoubtedly more effort on Jaerim's part.
Kai's brows slightly lifted when these names--names he was unaware of (until now)--were listed without the slightest trepidation or wariness as to what a werejaguar like him could do with that type of information. Probably nothing, but still. It was the idea of being able to abuse Jaerim's open trust in him that kept him engaged in the conversation (plus the alcohol holding him steadfast in a buzz). "I believe his name was Jaejoong," he noted, his lower body swiveling on the stool to face Jaerim in what could be interpreted as curiosity, or feigned interest. "I don't doubt I'll run into the other two sooner or later." The alpha's gaze made him tense, and he wasn't sure if it was fear, anxiety, or something else that stirred and bubbled beneath his skin. If it was fear, he would have morphed by now, but no-- there was just something excruciatingly maddening about the way Jaerim observed him. "You're going to make me blush," he scoffed playfully.
