One thing that I always think about is the fact that in the Pain Arc, the first thing Naruto did the second he arrived at the village was searching for Kakashi's chakra and despite seeing the destruction of the village and everything going on, he was just thinking about his sensei and where he might be

but another thing that the anime miserably failed to capture, is Naruto's reaction and feelings after finding out about Kakashi's death, in the manga however there was so much despair and anger clear in his expressions and reaction

He wasn't this pissed when he saw the entire village destroyed, all of the bodies scattered around or when he saw Pain almost killing Tsunade, all of this is one thing but knowing that he lost Kakashi is a completely different story.
