Having some fun working on a project with dramatic shadows and houseplants. It’s been a huge break from my usual work and I definitely want to do more in the graphic style!

I like how the second one reminds me of embroidery a little bit. I did that totally by accident! They also make some pretty cool wallpapers for your phone, so they are free for personal use that way! But please don’t steal my art or repost. <3

I did this piece in honor of pride month. I lit a candle, meditated to clear my mind for a few minutes, then began to pour in the idea of love, peace and happiness for my fellow LGBTQ community.

I’d like to believe reblogging would help the vibes find you, but just seeing it helps <3 <3 <3

I’ve always struggled to really express myself out loud, finding myself becoming almost non-verbal. I’d have times where I would want to tell someone “help me please, I need to talk” but I’m clammed up and just frustrated. It’s was hard to admit that my depression and PTSD had a hold over me, and it wasn’t one that I could really convey to someone else. I knew I needed an outlet, something to unleash the emotions that were welling up and spilling out.

I learned to paint to express myself, to pull out the emotions and try to make sense of it on canvas. I call it my art therapy- an outlet that helps release my mind and bring peace to unsolvable issues that happened too long ago. Some  are painful extractions- memories that I repressed or didn’t want to remember, anger, pain and fear. Some are of grief and sadness. But there are thoughts of hope, love and understanding as well. Combined paints a picture of myself. It’s hard, but it’s healing.

Self-love isn’t easy for any of us, but if you’ve got a desire, I strongly recommend letting it out through paint!

They aren’t amazing paintings by any means, but someone out there might identify with them, and maybe in the end they too bring you some comfort :]
