okay, I wanna preface this with the fact that I haven’t seen Project Hail Mary YET, but I HAVE seen a lot of analysis, fanfics, plot explanations, and a bunch of other stuff
Grace spends a LOTTTT of time in space on the Hail Mary, with a large chunk of his conscious time being spent with Rocky, an alien being. Now, now, WALK WITH ME!!!
Grace, given his time being spent with an alien and alone, would give any human he comes across, if he ever went BACK to Earth, MAJORRRR uncanny valley syndrome.
uncanny valley isn’t just based in appearance, but also behaviorally. It’s not the same, but it’s similar to how we know an animal is hurt or about to attack because of the behavior that animal is displaying.
So Grace, if he ever went back, would make people so so so anxious. He talks quieter because the Eridians have better hearing, so people have to get close to him or ask him to speak up.
Years spent in non-Earth gravity affects the way he walks, making him stagger and twitch with muscle spasms from exiting zero gravity. He walks almost silently after years spent on Erid.
he’s picked up on Eridian behavior and displays it a lot more; seemingly random stomps, whistles, unsettling tapping and clicking.
After years of isolation, he’s more vocal in a kind of primitive way; growling, grunting, general noises of displeasure. He’s left behind a lot of social anxiety that was based in cue recognition, like eye contact and personal space. He maintains eye contact for way too long and blinks at a slower rate than normal humans.
MAKE THAT MAN UNSETTLINGGGG!!!!!!!
