it’s not about heaven and hell, good and evil, great cosmic battles and fate and destiny.

it’s about a little boy who loves his friends and his home and his parents and his dog. it’s about a 19-year-old girl facing an obstacle because that’s what she was always told she’d do, but knowing her family is behind her every step of the way because they followed the same path she’s following now. it’s about an angel who worships books, about a demon who doesn’t need headlights to see by, but they make the other humans on the road less nervous. it’s about risking it all so you can still have a life with salt and eggs and gravlax with dill sauce; comfort and variety.

it’s about the grace it takes to look at the real mccoy, the real good and evil humanity are capable of, and love them anyway. the grace it takes to meet your enemy in good faith and discover that they have the same worries you do, and that when you get right down to it you’re working toward the same goal: keeping the bosses off your back; living up to what you always hoped you would be; having fun with your friends while you still can; saving the world. it’s about realizing the people who told you that you were enemies in the first place don’t understand how the world works any better than you do, and they can’t ever admit it or they’ll lose their power. it’s about love and solidarity and joy in the little things.

basically, it’s about people.

An 18c Aziraphale in the style of Jean-Marc Nattier. SO much time is spent on the lace and the coat texture that this piece has become some sort of test of my patience, but I regret nothing as he turned out to be rather lovely. ❤️
