“Sure, okay,” Dollie said, taking a piece of gum. “What flavour is it?” She didn’t stop to wait for an answer, already popping the piece of gum in her mouth and beginning to chew it. Worst-case scenario it was spearmint, and all that meant was that she’d have to find a bin to spit it out in. She could deal with that.
She waited for Kallie to take a few selfies before leaning round to rest her chin on her shoulder. “Take one with me?” she asked. “We can upload it on facebook and remind everyone we went to college with how cute we are now.”
“It says ‘fresh mint’ on the package... as if that means anything. Kinda tastes like peppermint, though,” Kallie answered, tossing the pack back into her bag before turning back to the table. She smiled when the girl’s head landed on her shoulder. “Oh my god, yes, of course!”
Kallie pulled her phone up and posed goofily with her tongue out, then added a few face-recognizing filters to the two of them and took a couple where they had hearts circling their heads or glitter on their cheeks. “I hate asking people to take pics with me because I never know if they actually like it, you know? Some people get so weird about having their picture taken.”
