I'm not even being ironic. I have been through post-surgical recovery that was more tolerable to me than these past few cheeseless days have been. But I get paid tomorrow, and an end is in sight, so I persevere.
Mostly a combination of "not wanting to walk to the grocery store when it's 30C outside" and "owing to the particulars of my employment situation I only get paid once a month, so disposable income tends to be tight in the final week, and I'm disinclined to incur debt to buy cheese".

Been replaying BOTW following my partner's first playthrough of some Zelda games. Just completed the Trial of the Sword in Master Mode for the first time. All worth it for these shots and those 5 bare notes of Fi's theme.
The sheer resistance in certain circles to the idea that most big-name D&D podcasts are at least partially scripted is perplexing to me because, like, look at the fucking production values. Yeah, it was cool when the party leader biffed that last-ditch Diplomacy check to prevent a battle no-one wanted, but when the GM proceeded to wheel out $1800 worth of Dwarven Forge terrain and a custom 3D-printed minifig for their reluctant foe, it's crystal clear there was no way that fight wasn't happening.
Exercise a little reading comprehension, folks. This post isn't saying "D&D liveplay podcasts are 100% scripted". It's remarking on the tendency of certain D&D liveplay fans to get tetchy about the idea that they contain any scripted elements at all. Whether your home game also contains planned scenes isn't relevant.
Even as someone who 100% agrees with the fact that most liveplay podcasts are if not scripted heavily railroaded, the custom terrain argument feels very silly.
I myself make custom maps for all my games and oh boy if I made it I'm using it, no matter what events lead to that moment, and I don't need a 1800 dollar investment to do that. I don't even need a map. If I or a player came up with a cool scene, I'm making it happen in some way!
Shoehorning the shit you've worked on into the game in whatever way you find is some of the most basic DMing 101 shit and I don't see how it has anything to do with the fact that these shows 100% have a very clear outline they aim to follow.
I love petilil so much, one of my favorites, I wish I could show you all of my shiny petilil that are stuck in pokemon home, but for now, I must just tell you her story
It all began in pokemon moon, circa 2016, my first ever pokemon game, and team included a Petilil named ‘Small’. haters will try and tell you that that nickname is not a stroke of genius but, I’m pretty sure Petilil is kinda small, so I was not wrong, and I believe you won’t find a better nickname out there. Anyways, last year I dedicated my life to finding the rarest possible petilil. I have:
- shiny hisuian lilligant, who is also champion of Alola!! all I had to do was beat moon/ultra moon with an un-evolved petilil in my party, then send it across to my switch and have her evolve in legends arceus :3
- a shiny petilil who also has the ‘mini’ mark (truly, this one is Small)
- a shiny petilil who also has the ‘jumbo’ mark (she is named Petilarge, the pun was there, it had to be done) she also has the ‘sociable’ mark on top of that, which is crazy! I actually don’t know how rare she is, like all together.
- a shiny petilil who has the ‘rare’ mark. This is my one in four million pokemon. I was not expecting to find her, I was too stunned I don’t even think I’ve nicknamed her, how could I possibly pick a word to describe what happened there
I have a goal of getting a shiny petilil which has beaten every single game she can be in, and has the maximum number of ribbons/badges possible. The only thing stopping me is that I’ve never actually shiny hunted with the shiny odds from Gen 5 (and previous) which is 1/8192 (I’ve only successfully done a 1/4096 hunt, as in not an accidental full odds shiny but by choice, like 3 times… and they were rough omg)
