āā¦fiction gives us empathy: it puts us inside the minds of other people, gives us the gift of seeing the world through their eyes. Fiction is a lie that tells us true things, over and over.ā

Things I wrote when lack of sleep makes me feel funny
If Iām an air, I want to let myself fill in the space and expand.
I feel like a mess, like Iām in a day off. Can I have a day off?
I know I donāt have job, but I think I need a day off from thisāwhatever this is
Lack of Sleep, itās a dangerous game to play with Iām not sure if itās even something that human can play with
But sometimes, weāre just stupid, why humans like to hurt themselves, huh?
At some point, I do feel like no one cares about me
But I also know that itās illogical
I have friends, although theyāre busy
We all have problems to deal with anyway
Do you ever feel like youāre an alien in your own home?
Even if your parents raised you, and know your little weirdness since birthā
They still look like they despise you⦠or at least think your weirdness needs to go away
Sometimes they cause the pain, Iām sure they know
But I wonder why they always shocked to see me in pain
And begged me to not show this pain to anyone
As they deemed it's too ādisturbingā for public eye
It feels alarming to be in such sleepy state, I wonder why...
I know my fam ignores me sometimes, and even if they know that I'm in pain- they'd always deny it. They often claims that I'm healthy and strong when I'm not. It's tiring sometimes, and I do get very tired. But, it's whatever- I feel like, it's not my problem at this point. They can do whatever they want, I feel like I'm too tired to care. Or it's only because I lack of sleep right now.
āAfter thirty years of intensive research, we can now answer many of the questions posed earlier. The recycle rate of a human being is around sixteen hours. After sixteen hours of being awake, the brain begins to fail. Humans need more than seven hours of sleep each night to maintain cognitive performance. After ten days of just seven hours of sleep, the brain is as dysfunctional as it would be after going without sleep for twenty-four hours. Three full nights of recovery sleep (i.e., more nights than a weekend) are insufficient to restore performance back to normal levels after a week of short sleeping. Finally, the human mind cannot accurately sense how sleep-deprived it is when sleep-deprived.ā

Thatās it, Iām going to bed.
