I dunno, it's something I threw together. It's not my best but I decided to post it anyways. I'm working on the final part of my huge theory and then onto the addition of the otp prompts masterlist. Enjoy!
The Doctor hadn't slept (as usual). In fact, he was in the pool room re-reading a good book. Although time lords were able to read at astronomical rates, he still took his time to analyze and over analyze every page. The book's origin was unknown. He hadn't recalled having any books of things from the pony biology and the complicated workings of magic to the inner workings of mares, specifically pegasi in this particular volume, during their heat cycles. The Doctor called himself lucky for not having to deal with his female assistant, Derpy, during her heat cycle. Yet. He knew it was bound to happen eventually.
As he flipped to the next worn out, yellow stained page, the sound of a door creaking open caught his attention. His ears flicked, a pony habit of his that he had only recently discovered. The sound of hooves shuffling echoed slightly as the grey mare appeared all the way on the other side of the hallway. The mare shook her head, her blonde mane moving around as well, revealing a few small dots of sea green decorating her neck. The Doctor raised his eyebrow, alarmed at the sight. Before he could stand up on all fours and chase after the half awake mare to ask what was in her neck, she had disappeared off to who knows where. The stallion cursed under his breath as he readjusted himself in his seat. He decided to examine the page he was on to pass some more time. He didn't feel that hungry anyways.
The titling of the page was quite alarming to him. He raised an eyebrow in awe. "Hickeys? Now why in the world would there be a page on hickeys for equines?" he asked himself.
With confusion plaguing his mind, he began to read the brief page. "A hickey's appearance is similar on any mammal or equine. What makes hickeys unique to our species is the magic behind it. When it comes to our sub species of pegasi and earth ponies, the pony who gives the other the marking will leave behind the red and purple dot that is commonly observed. Unicorns, on the hoof, can control its appearance. It takes a difficult and well trained spell to make the appearance of one's hickey look like any other. A natural hickey given to other pony by a unicorn may appear to have an unnatural appearance. It depends on the unicorn's hue of aura..." He made the connection. "OH MY-"
Derpy poured herself a cup of coffee. At this point, she had been far used to the Doctor yelling for no apparent reason. Or, if there was a reason, it was quite dumb in her opinion. "What 'amazing' discovery did you find this time?" she shouted sarcastically. "That ponies have hooves?" she teased.
"Oh, don't you give me that!" he shouted back. The sound of quick hoofsteps became louder as he guided his way towards the kitchen, where he heard his assistant's voice.
Derpy placed the coffee pot back in its place and leaned against the wall, hearing him coming. She took a slow sip, trying her hardest to not burn her tongue off like she did every morning. While waiting, the memories of last night came flowing in and took up space. The way he was so careful and delicate with her. It was more the feelings and sensations she remembered rather than the actual events themselves. Perhaps it was because they were tipsy that night. Only tipsy, however. That was as far as the two got. At least, she thought that's as far as they got.
The mare remembered the warm, intoxicated kisses they shared in the bedroom. The taste of the wine still noticeable on his thin lips. He was so slow, and so gentle. Yet, before they fell into a deep slumber for the night, he did something bold. She never asked for it, but once he gave them to her, she didn't complain. He said it was to show other ponies that she was his, but she simply brushed that off to him being intoxicated. Either way, her neck was now decorated with more than one hickey thanks to him.
"Hello, earth to Derpy?" She snapped out of her thoughts and redirected her attention to the sound of the voice. The Doctor was frantically waving his hoof in front of her face.
"Gah! What? What is it?" she yelped, startled. She covered her hoof, not wanting to be so loud. Tick Tock was sleeping still. She didn't want to wake him.
The Doctor cleared his theory before speaking. "You were staring off into space!" he said. His brows furrowed as he changed the subject. "I noticed your bright... spots, on your neck." Derpy hastily covered her neck up with her golden, ratted up mane. "Thanks to the book I was reading," he held up his book, "I may know what those are."
Derpy yelped, her face florid in embarrassment. "Wh-Wh-What are you talking about?" she asked nervously, attempting to lie through her teeth.
The Doctor sighed. "Derpy, don't even try to lie to me." Derpy giggled nervously, rubbing her neck. He opened the book up to where he left off. "Now, lemme get to the important part." He cleared his throat. "A natural hickey given to other pony by a unicorn may appear to have an unnatural appearance. It depends on the unicorn's hue of aura." He closed the book and looked dead straight into the mare's eyes. "Could you perhaps explain more about this to me?" he inquired, check mating his opponent in the conversation.
As if on que, the sound of a door was heard creaking open. The two ponies looked over to see Tick Tock exiting the bedroom. The Doctor looked over to Derpy and raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that your bedroom, Derpy?" he asked.
If Derpy's face could turn even more red, then it just did. The two thought they could just sweep last night's ordeal under the metaphorical rug, but the Doctor thought it was a game of hide and seek, and he most certainly won this round.
"Is there anything you would like to tell me?" the Doctor inquired, letting his assistant spill the beans.
"Good morning," Tick Tock mumbled, shuffling into the kitchen half awake. Derpy ducked around the Doctor and approached the sleepy gingercorn. She set her coffee mug onto the kitchen counter and stood beside him. He turned to look at the golden eyed mare. His heart tugged at his strings, pulling with all its might in hopes of moving his muscles, but alas, his flat facial expression stayed. "How are you?" He bent down and nuzzled Derpy briefly before using his sea green aura to grab himself a coffee mug.
"I-I'm good," she managed to stutter out, trying to push was just happened a moment ago in the very back of her mind. She felt somepony burning holes into her wings with their stare. She looked to her left to see the Doctor cocking an eyebrow in amusement, and to the right of her was the culprit.
"Is there by any chance that you do not have any plans today?" he asked, still staring. It made Derpy slightly uncomfortable.
"Um, y-yea. Why?" she replied nervously.
Tick Tock's eyes bolted to Derpy's face before looking away. He cleared his throat before speaking. "Ever since the Doctor broke those mechanical wings, I have always wanted to fix them, even if they will never be used again. However, I need to examine real life wings in order to begin repairing the mechanical ones." Derpy nodded, understanding why he was staring at her wings earlier.
"Sure thing!" she said. "How about after breakfast?" Derpy offered.
Tick Tock nodded. "Sounds fine to me."
"But first!" the Doctor chimed, "there's something I need to ask the two of you." He got in between the two and wrapped his hooves around them.
"Sooooo, when did you two love birds start dating?"
