I kept hearing that D.Gray-man's plot could get confusing near the end. But I grew up playing Kingdom Hearts. Souls within souls, amnesia, reincarnations, inherited memories, a guy that's also several other guys at once. This is easy mode for me. We haven't even gotten fully into time travel yet.

Caught up on D.Gray-Man, excited to learn that Allen is the ultimate whump character. Canonically destined to just have the worse time ever. The most powerful character in the series is doing it's goddamn best to make the most extreme hurt/comfort storyline come to life

God I have a LOT of thoughts on this series and not nearly enough time to write it out

Kanda when he hears that Allen is actually a 50+ yo who, because of an entity aligned with the black order, was combined together with another body to produce a kid that has above-average abilities and whose memories were completely erased by this black-order-sided entity that then proceeded to make his life a living hell for its own ends, that he remembers only around 10 years of life, and the only memory resurfacing from his previous life was connected to another person with which he had something easily interpreted as romantic in nature and (in at least one of their lives) gay, a person who died but somehow he can still kinda hear now sometimes, apparently:
