I have nothing against Farcille, genuinely. But it’s been very interesting seeing that a fandom mostly defined by a femslash ship for once can get just as brainwormed about their OTP to the point of ultimately and fundamentally misunderstanding/mischaracterizing the entire thing as any other fandom dominated by mslash.

the point is that complete strangers are drawn into resurrecting this one girl. kabru’s obsession with laios invites the canaries’ involvement. the captain of the canaries finding meaning in his relationship with kabru involves him. the empathy and kindness laios feels for the denizens of the golden kingdom has them get directly involved as well. the entire island, by the end of the manga, become directly a part of this quest to bring falin back to life, and it isnt just because marcille is in lesbians with her.

it’s because to exist, to live, is to connect and be connected to other people in an endless web of desire and need and want. to be a person means to be a person with other people, no matter how distant or detached you think you ever are. to be loved enough and known by a single person is to be loved and known by hundreds, thousands of people through the spiraling tangle of connections. the point was never and could never be “it’s because of marcille”. the point was always “it’s because everyone is in this together and the most profound connection everyone shares is the need to eat to live and live well.”
