So it’s been a minute since my last post here, but sadly I don’t have much to offer beyond more doodles done at work. I played through Dragon Quest II for the first time recently though, and as I’m always wont to do with silent protagonists, I ended up making up my own personalities for the party as the game went on that I got attached to:
The Prince is a cocky asshole, firmly convinced that he’s the protagonist of the quest thanks to having swordplay and magic, completely oblivious to the fact that his skills in either are vastly inferior to the those of the other party members. The kind of guy who thinks he’s the smartest person in the room and is just so magnanimous and princely to deign to share his wisdom with those less privileged.
The Princess is ACTUALLY the smartest person in the room, and is consequently always a hair’s-breadth away from throttling the Prince just to get him to shut up. Regularly says she wishes she had stayed a dog if it’d mean she didn’t have to put up with him.
And the Hero is the quiet (silent) nice guy caught in the middle and constantly having to stop the two of them from killing each other and focusing on the quest.
In short, they’re all cousins!

I recently finished a challenge run of FE7 where I was only allowed to use bows to deal damage, heavily inspired by @vilkalizer‘s Sacred Bownes run they shared a while back, and wanted to do something quick for my undisputed MVP. Despite usually only specializing in speed, all it took was a single Power Ring early in the game and Rebecca suddenly decided she wanted to get buff AND speedy! She quickly turned into my most reliable unit where anything I pointed her at would be dead immediately, and even took on the Fire Dragon all by herself!
Other points of interest include a chain of unlucky/lucky levelups leading to Dorcas being relatively useless in the endgame while Bartre somehow became one of my best units. Rath was extremely unlucky with his levels and ended up being my only offensive unit left out of the final battle, but Rebecca, Wil, Lyn, and Louise all formed an excellent support chain that made each of them fantastic when close to one another.
I’ve never done a challenge like this before, and I was really surprised by how much fun it was! It’ll be a minute before I play a Fire Emblem again, but I’d love to give something like this a try again!

I fell out of watching the Sun and Moon anime while it was airing, but I’ve been doing my best to speed through what I missed recently and hoo boy that’s a good show. It’s got me thinking all about Alola again, so here are a couple more memo pad doodles done during work of two of my team members from Moon, Humphrey the Decidueye and Camille the Lurantis! As the two grass-types on the team, they formed a bit of a pair. Someday I’ll actually get around to designing the rest of this team, haaaaaa...

Work lately has me sitting in on a ton of Zoom meetings, which is... not the most exciting time, so I’ve been filling at least some of it doodling on the memo pad I always keep close by for note taking. Here’s one from yesterday I ended up liking of two OCs I don’t draw anywhere near enough, the mage girls Flora and Deliverance!

Another older sketch, but my Pokémon art seems to be the most popular of the stuff I post here so why not. I finally got the chance to play through Pokémon XD for the first time last time last summer, and enjoyed it enough that I ended up kinda idly doodling some of my party as I made my way through the game. Here are the two girls that ended up basically leading the team with how strong they were, Asuna the Hariyama and Diana the Gardevoir. A pretty contrasting pair!
First completed drawing of the New Year! Felt like trying to do something a little more seasonal. Everyone needs that one patient friend you can rant about nonsense to.
Been spending some time trying to figure out how to draw some of the new Galar Pokémon! I used to draw Pokémon all the time, but it’s been a while since I really took the time to sit down and force some into my own style. SwSh gave me a burst of inspiration to try and get it into again though, hopefully there’ll be more to come at some point!
These are some of the guys from my Shield team, just five for now since I’m struggling to come up with a design I’m satisfied with for the last one + I’m already working on building a secondary team, whoops. But here’s Jeyne the Inteleon, Chrissie the Toxtricity, Glenda the Hatterene, Yngwar the Runerigus, and Yumi the Frosmoth. Wound up with all girls this time around minus Yngwar!
