Here’s the official announcement of the new band who will be taking on the duty of performing the new season’s opening theme, Da Pump, whose members all dressed as Iyami for the occasion!
The new theme song is called “Osomatsu-san no Bomb A Sheeeh!”, is said to be a cover of a western song (with an unique Osomatsu-san twist) and had its lyrics written by m.c.A·T, a rapper and singer which Da Pump has worked closely with in the past. In fact, the name of the song is a direct reference to m.c.A·T‘s 1993 single Bomb a Head!, which received a rerelease in 2003 featuring none other than Da Pump. It has then had a second remix in 2007, being the opening song for the anime Tenjou Tenge! You can give this last version a listen here:
Despite the name, though, Osomatsu-san no Bomb A Sheeh! and Bomb A Head! seem to be completely different songs!
A fun fact about Da Pump: they had been inactive since 2009 when, in 2018, they suddenly released a cover of the 1992 Eurobeat track U.S.A. by Joe Yellow, which was a huge success and earned them a place in the 2018 competition for number one new term of the year:
The word people came up to describe U.S.A was dasa-kakkoi, which this article translates as "lame-cool" but l'd personally translate it as "cringe-based" because I find it funnier. If you're curious about U.S.A., you can also check it out here:
While we’re on this topic: a second season 4 trailer has been released by the official Osomatsu-san account on Twitter!
In it, we can see more snippets of the sextuplets summer shenanigans and also some of the side characters, like Dekapan, Hatabō, Totoko, the Riceball Robots and, of course, a little extra Iyami!
We can also listen to a small portion of the newest season 4 opening song Osomatsu-san no Bomb A Sheeeh! by the end. This new theme song is said to be a cover of a western song, will be performed by the band Da Pump and had its new lyrics written by the rapper and singer m.c.A·T. It's definitely an Eurobeat track, but I unfortunately can't recognize it! Reminds me a bit of Running in the 90s by Initial D. If you recognize it, please tell me! I'd love to give the original a listen.
(I'm also planning on subtitling this one but it's a bit hard to make out what the characters are saying when the theme song hits, so please bear with me for a little longer!)
