If I say I'm aroace and/because I don't want either of those things, your first reaction shouldn't be to tell me I can still have them. I understand that people CAN, but they can also choose not to. Let people have their own reasons for identifying with labels. If I don't want sex or romance because I'm aroace, I should be allowed to say that without people using sex/romance favorability to invalidate my identity. That's not helpful. I don't need to be told I CAN date when I just told someone why I can't.

If I make a point about how not being able to be in relationships or not being able to feel the things other people do makes me feel isolated, your first reaction shouldn't be "but you can though."

Sure, I could, but I'm sure both me and the other person involved would be miserable. Just because I sometimes wish I could doesn't mean you can use an identity I don't belong to as an excuse to invalidate me.

I am not sex-favorable. I am not romance-favorable. This was not my choice. I have accepted that I will never be in a romantic or sexual relationship. But some people like me haven't. And we need to stop collectively treating them like they can just become sex/romance-favorable if they try hard enough.

Another thing is how my identity is pitted against those who are favorable. It's really sad, because it's not my fault some people use me to invalidate them, and it's not their fault people use them to invalidate me, and we need to stop pretending like it is.

I think a lot of the aro/ace community's problems would be solved if we just treated sex and romance like they were just another thing people do sometimes. You can have them, but they shouldn't be EVERYWHERE and you should be able to avoid them if you want. Like yes, you can have sex/romance and engage with material like that, because it's just a thing people do sometimes. And yes, you can block one or two tags and not have to see that stuff, because for YOU, it's gross and uninviting, but it's just a thing people do sometimes.

Anyway, this was my somewhat long and nonsensical rant, sorry.

It doesn't bother me irl, because im a hermit who lives only in the internet, but in the fandom with certain, clearly sex-repulsed asexual (and possibly aromatic) character it's getting annoying, because this phrase, that originally meant to be for including sex-favorable aces in the spectrum, is now used to invalidate sex-repulsed aces and to write said character as just allosexual, only once mentioning that he's a demi/graysexual (in the tags only) and never actually addressing it in the writing. Just fucking say he's not ace in your fic, don't mislead people!!! Experiences os sex-favorable aces are still different from experiences of allosexuals.

Didn't months pass between the ending of season 1 and season 2 starting? So Alastor was nursing that gaping chest wound for months and still in a lot of pain from it even with it mostly closed up, no wonder he was ready to quit as soon as Lucifer (definitely not for the first time) called him lazy for daring to sit down in the parlor for a minute with the other residents like he's an equal and not the help.

And the assumption we are supposed to make is that no one has so much as asked about this or even noticed that Alastor slowed down at all except to decide that he must be being difficult on purpose. Alastor, a person that they all live with, full time. Who is also carrying physical evidence of the fact that he lost a fight badly in his hands at all times in the form of his staff, which has been visibly cut in half and stuck back together.

This is a level of "not noticing shit by accident" that crosses over to reckless disregard on the part of everyone at the hotel. I'm laughing right now because I've got to find this funny or it's just gonna make me sad.

Also, Lucifer didn't just call him lazy. Lucifer called him useless, to his face, for having to flee from combat -- against a higher-order angel who objectively outmatched sinners by his divine composition -- in order to not be killed a second time on the spot. And I don't mean that was implied. It was said. Out loud. Basically in those words. Lucifer was like haha, you're a useless person who isn't contributing anything because you couldn't win a fight against someone who is by divine ordinance stronger than you.
