Yet another request. This one was in a long ask of different requests so I’m giving them each their own posts. REALLLY LIKED THIS REQUEST A LOT!!! It was for alcohol shots on top of Vox’s flat face and I eat that up. I’m assuming this is what u meant anon but if not pls correct me I WILL DO ANOTHER
Didn't months pass between the ending of season 1 and season 2 starting? So Alastor was nursing that gaping chest wound for months and still in a lot of pain from it even with it mostly closed up, no wonder he was ready to quit as soon as Lucifer (definitely not for the first time) called him lazy for daring to sit down in the parlor for a minute with the other residents like he's an equal and not the help.
Yes, thank you. And the assumption we are supposed to make is that no one has so much as asked about this or even noticed that Alastor slowed down at all except to decide that he must be being difficult on purpose. Alastor, a person that they all live with, full time. Who is also carrying physical evidence of the fact that he lost a fight badly in his hands at all times in the form of his staff, which has been visibly cut in half and stuck back together.
This is a level of "not noticing shit by accident" that crosses over to reckless disregard on the part of everyone at the hotel. I'm laughing right now because I've got to find this funny or it's just gonna make me sad.
Also, Lucifer didn't just call him lazy. Lucifer called him useless, to his face, for having to flee from combat -- against a higher-order angel who objectively outmatched sinners by his divine composition -- in order to not be killed a second time on the spot. And I don't mean that was implied. It was said. Out loud. Basically in those words. Lucifer was like haha, you're a useless person who isn't contributing anything because you couldn't win a fight against someone who is by divine ordinance stronger than you.
Can I take a moment to turn this into a radio*pple hate post because oh my fucking god. This is not a cute couples beat, it's like ten centimeters away from feeling like a hate crime. This isn't a microaggression it's a macroaggression. I am going insane.

nasa employee: this guy hasn't interacted with humans in like 20/60 years should he really be giving interviews?
nasa employee 2: ehh just give him some media training and it should be fine
this is more of a silly one bc i just wanted to draw grace in a suit ^^
rocky always yells “enrichment for grace! enrichment for grace!” when he has a new invention to make the humans time more interesting on erid. grace, while appreciative, replies ‘I know I’m in a zoo enclosure but could we maybe not call it that? I feel like a bear getting thrown a pumpkin covered in peanut butter.’ rocky simply gives him a thumb, not wanting to explain that a significant amount of the population sees grace as the celebrity savior scientist who rocky keeps as a controversially young trophy wife and publicly lavishes in gifts
Drew some art inspired by @duckiewashere ‘s fic “all sharks go to heaven”
The idea of Vox being a marine biologist/steve Irwin type media figure was so interesting to me I had to do a little drawing for it! (Plus getting to draw some cute sharks was not something I could pass up!)
Immensely fascinated with the way Charlie being born in hell sets her apart from all of her social group and their struggles.
While she's definitely somebody who feels like a failure a lot and obsesses over her mistakes (some of which have indeed been deeply consequential), she has not ever lived the specific type of 'life of sin' that brought a lot of sinners down to Pentagram.
When she cites random Christian values to adhere to for redemption, then she does so as someone who's never lived in a world where adherence to those values was a make-it-or-break it problem.
The most notable example of this is her attitude towards sexuality whenever she tries to list off redemption-facilitating traits:
Honestly, I don't think she even truly believes in this herself. She's clearly not keeping herself virginal until her wedding night.
But there's some assumptions about what Virtue(TM) is that live unchallenged in her head and that she keeps unthinkingly pushing on her friends as harmless short-cuts, without having any first-hand experience with the realities that shaped these traits in them.
The show has confronted this a little with her initial cluelessness towards Valentino's abuse, but it's a fairly persistent quirk that has a lot of interesting character-building potential.
Charlie is fundamentally a kind person who changes people around her for the better, but she also has a lot of completely unexamined ideas of what 'good' even means stuck in her head and unknowingly keeps hurting others with that inexperience.
Going forward, I would love to see Charlie grapple with the realities of everyone's mortal lives more intimately - the sinners have a lot to learn from her, but they can bring a lot of growth to her as well.

i simply don't think nonbinary people should have to see having our gender/s respected and acknowledged as a luxury. i think it's frankly sickening that that's the state of things tbh.
sorry i just think that the fact that popular binary jokes are stuff like "god isn't it so much better to exist as my gender, i didn't even realize how incredibly depressed i was until i transitioned, my life is so much more rich and colorful now that im out and transitioning :)" and popular nonbinary jokes are stuff like "i think i might be nonbinary but that doesn't matter because i have real adult concerns and no one would respect it anyways lol" and that's. normal and funny and cool. yeah. clenches teeth so hard they turn to dust
happy nonbinary people's day. treat every nonbinary person you meet with as much compassion and respect as you possibly can or ill grind YOUR teeth to dust.
once tried to share a poem with my uncle about how awful it feels to be reduced to binary ideas of gender as a nonbinary trans dude who doesn't pass. hes a very supportive cis gay man who'd never intentionally disrespect my identity and even he kind of laughed at me when i shared it thinking it was like. supposed to be lighthearted or a joke in a way? even from one of the most compassionate people i know i feel like my identity and a massive chunk of my dysphoria comes off as a funny concept/nonserious. idk
poem included in case anyone wanted to read
Did Alastor's crazy plan in S2 not count as a crash out because it worked?
I think Al has been suffering for most of the series- he's just quiet about it because he knows no one cares. At least, no one that wouldn't be interested in capitalizing on it.
I think his entire character arc should be about him realizing/reckoning with the fact that he needs help, he needs to be vulnerable to the people who care about him to get it, and that it's ok and even healthy. That successfully conning the public into thinking he's an untouchable Eldritch existence only makes him isolated. He's gotten everything he wanted out of hell and has nothing real to show for it. And he could have something real so easily if he let his walls down.
Or Charlie let's him down, proves his point, and it causes catastrophic character development for all parties involved.
Did Alastor's crazy plan in S2 not count as a crash out because it worked?
I feel like definitionally, a crashout is a non-strategic, ineffective, and self-destructive demonstration of emotion -- which wasn't really what the crazy plan was. The crazy plan was strategic, effective, and actually helped Alastor out tremendously in the end.
I think Al has been suffering for most of the series- he's just quiet about it because he knows no one cares. At least, no one that wouldn't be interested in capitalizing on it.
AGREED. There is zero upside, in Alastor's view, to suffering loudly or perceptibly at all. This is also the root of the smile thing.
I think his entire character arc should be about him realizing/reckoning with the fact that he needs help,
This is where I actually disagree, with a margin of one word. I don't think it should be about how he "needs" help, because he doesn't need help. We've only seen Alastor be ruthlessly competent, and the only time where he has in theory "had" help (going into battle with his entire "team" in the season 1 finale) it ended horrendously for him.
I think what his arc should be about is recognizing that the might want 'help,' loosely defined. That he might want and benefit from human connection. That that is not going to end horribly for or sabotage him. But what he NEEDS is for someone to prove that. I think 'someone' should be Charlie.
As soon as I can revive him from the dead the wedding is BACK ON !!!!
Seeing a lot of people in the tags looking at my account and thinking this was meant for wangxian but it's important to me that everyone understands the nuances of lan wangji my favorite boy so I must correct the narrative: lwj fully believed his love was unrequited and was fine with it, and had moved on post-wwx death keeping his memory alive. He would not have planned a wedding for when wwx came back, nor would he have specifically revived wwx to marry him, because he would always respect wwx's decision to be free and would never try to chain him to a world that hates him only to fulfill his own desires; it's important that he's eternally accepting of wwx and overjoyed at his return, but that he was not the decision maker in this case.
