It was quiet, this time of night. 

The city had gone to bed, the main lobby of the hotel was in the midst of shutting down, and he knew he’d be kicked out at any given moment. He toed his shoes off and sat at the edge of the pool, dipping only his feet in. He kicked aimlessly, letting the cool water crawl across his body. He craned his neck up to the sky, sighing. 

He never thought it’d end up like this. He never thought he’d be losing sleep over some guy. He never thought he’d be picturing Sunday mornings with him, admiring the way the sun beamed across his face, smiling over the way his nose scrunched when he laughed. 

How did he get to this…

Eddie pursed his lips as he dug through his backpack, pulling out a shitty ukulele he liked to travel with. He primarily kept it on hand if he had a song idea and needed to work out a quick melody—he’d rather die than have any of his bandmates know he played something so anti-rock. 

As Eddie continued swaying his feet underwater, he plucked at a few strings, aimlessly tuning it before playing a handful of cords. He sighed, deeper than he had intended, and started to sing to himself. 

“I’ve rejected affection, for years and years...”

Yes! So, “Oh, Baby, Baby” is actually complete—I can work on putting together a master list of the ao3 links!

Regarding other works, I have a few WIPs that are all over the place. I’ll hopefully have the next chapter of “Poppies and Peonies” up within a week or so.

ngl making STEVE, who in canon fights racists and is supportive of his lesbian best friend, a republican candidate is actually so disgusting. there's absolutely nothing canonically that would ever remotely support steve being a republican.

just make an OC! OCs are great! and they can be awful republicans and no one would care.

With all due respect, I need this person to be SO fucking fr rn. It’s FICTION of FICTION. Nothing has to be canonical. Ffs Steve and Nancy aren’t married, and Dustin and Max aren’t their kids—nothing about this whole thing is REAL.

The entire point is Steve was born and raised under strict conservative values. It is all he knows. Eddie was born into the lower, working class who has seen others struggle and only wants to help. The entire premise of poppies is enemies to lovers—rwrb with it’s own twist. There is this wonderful thing called ✨character development✨ that isn’t captured in the first, opening, groundwork laying chapter. SHOCKER.
