Why Are You So Intimidated by Something You Want?
Please, please, please hear me when I say this.
If you are someone who gets overly invested in your desires and every little thing triggers you, you need to learn how to psychologically distance yourself from the desire.
And no, I am not saying you won't get anything you want if you are obsessed with your desires.
(I've got a whole post singing the praises of obsession—trust me, I'm not one of those obsession haters.)
I am saying that if every time you think about your desire, it feels larger than you and takes a mental toll, you need to detach.
Because why have you given something you want so much psychological weight that thinking about it makes you anxious?
It's not a million dollars you're manifesting. It's paper.
It's not an SP you're manifesting. It's a person walking up to you and saying a few things.
It's not a house you're manifesting. It's four walls, rooms, furniture and a place to crash out.
You have mentally inflated these things until they feel enormous.
Then you look at the inflated version and think, How the hell am I supposed to have that?
You don't need to keep doing that to yourself.
Take the desire down from the pedestal you put it on.
You can want something deeply without treating it like it's some extraordinary phenomenon that requires you to monitor every thought, reaction, circumstance and coincidence.
You can think about it without spiralling.
You can want it without checking for evidence.
You can desire it without feeling like your entire emotional state depends on whether it appears today.
Nothing has more power than you.
Don't shrink simply because you perceive your desires as unattainable.
That feeling of “this is so huge and impossible” is an illusion you're entertaining because, on some level, it feels comfortable to keep the desire outside of yourself.
Make it ordinary in your mind.
You are allowed to want things without making them psychologically enormous.
And if thinking about your desire currently makes you feel overwhelmed, obsessed or triggered, give yourself some distance.
You don't need to stare at the thing you want all day to prove that you want it.
Sometimes you need to remember that it is simply something you decided you want.
And that is reason enough to have it.
