Sibling Rivalry
Wounded wasn’t the word that Legacy would describe how Kash made her feel. She knew he could have a temper, but with him she never had to have her guard up until now. His intentions might have been good, but she felt the handling of her emotions was sloppy. They decided to meet at this seafood spot their parents always took them when they were younger. It was neutral ground, and the owners definitely always treated them like family, and vice versa.
Legacy was going to do her best to keep her emotions in check. “Hey.” She spoke when Kash arrived at the table. She had already ordered herself a mango lemonade.

Kash wasn’t the same.
The Kash everyone knew before was dead and gone. His career was over as a ball player before it even started. TJ was now in the spotlight and Kash was battling an unruly depression. He gotten so messed up, that he ended up signing off on an R&B group contract. He went to a party, got shit wasted, and somehow that happened. He figured, “fuck it” and did what he had to do to keep his name relevant.
When it came to his family, he didn’t know what was going on. He felt his family fell apart, which cause more to his manic state. It was good to hear from Legacy. He legit actually missed her and wanted no beef with her. Never did. It could help to at least hear her voice and see her face.
Kash hoped that this Visine would mask his blood shot eyes. He was doped up, but comfortable enough to be social.
“Hey Legacy.” He leaned forward and kissed her cheek. His sunglasses on. He decided against taking them off but if needed to, he would.
“You lookin good sis.”
“Thanks, you too.” Legacy noticed the glasses, but accounted them to a crazy night of drinking. In all fairness it was good to see him. The two of them had a bond that a blind man could see, but they were going through a rough patch right now. “I talked to mom, she good, dad is dad but there’s a different type of sadness in his eyes these days. Have you talked to them?” Honestly, they had a pile of things they could talk about, their parents relationship being in shambles was one. This was their first time seeing the home front not stable.
“Ooh word? Damn.” He licked his lips. Kash and his dad were close, so to hear that, make him uncomfortable. He was clueless about anything that was going on. “Damn naaah…I ain’t speak to no one lately or nothin,” he rubbed the back of his neck. “Yea, shit crazy though, I know mama got her album and her book out. People been askin me questions, like media and shit, I just tell them I don’t know…which I don’t.” He chuckled uneasily.
“You um..you doin alright though? You good? I been seein you post some stuff. You look like you doin good.”
Kash’s mannerism’s were throwing her off. He seemed uncomfortable, more than she figured he would be. “Yea, everything is good with me. The beauty bar is going good, I’m about to drop my own lip gloss line, and thinking about adding a personal stylist service.” Even though her family was the thing to talk about, she was trying to keep busy and stay low. She didn’t know what to think about her mother’s book, but all she could do was be there for support. “The marriage going good?”
“Look at lil sis doing her thing.” He nodded. “I ain’t been keeping up like I should and want to stay involved. Let me know when you release it. I’ll be there.”
He knew he made more promises and didn’t keep them, but he would try for her. He’d try his hardest to make it up to his sister.
“Corrine? I think she good. I ain’t been home in a few weeks.”
“In a few weeks?” Legacy raised her eyebrow. Now things were starting to sound sketchy. She never was a fan of the union, but not being home for weeks wasn’t good at all. “Take off your shades.” Now she wanted to look him in the eyes.
Kash taking off his shades was a cry out for help. He looked at her. “Shit ain’t good,” he confessed. “It ain’t good and I ain’t good.”
He took a drink of water. “This is about you though. I ain’t come here to talk about me. I wanted to see you, hear your voice.”
Legacy was annoyed that he’d let himself fall this deep into darkness. “This meeting is about us, what’s really going on Kash?”
“This meet up is about you. I miss you, I miss the connection we had.”
