i gotta give it for the three x reader fics in this fandom and it's all X. we don't know anything about this guy except how confident & nonchalant he is, loves sweets and coffee (especially strawberry), he wants to give the truth, his powers, he doesn't want to work to overtime, he's capable of swordsmanship, he can play the piano, he can play chess, he has this specific watch that he loves using and it's out of practicality, and has a civilian alter ego who has the same goddamn personality he has plus loser aura.

for me, i believe that he can take care of himself and has good hygiene. you see him move his hair in the 6 min pv and you know that man takes pride in his hair.

Ty to @kcgyatt for giving me the idea that X got his powers by seeing the true nature of the world! If that’s true, then like. HOW DOES ANY OF THIS *gestures frantically at X* WORK WITH THE TRUST POINT SYSTEM???

Presumably, he would’ve crafted his own hero outfit, then accumulated trust points AFTER doing hero stuff or whatever. Are his powers and look entirely unaffected by the system? Then did he always look like that, X-tie-clip and all?? Or did he become X and THEN do that (in any case, what an arrogant dude lmao. entirely deserved too). And that’s what would be so mysterious about him, right? No matter his position in the rankings, he would’ve (PRESUMABLY) been the same exact hero with the same exact powers and the same exact look. i've been on edge that there's an observation on twt where the promotion of nice for the series might actually be lin ling since the promos of nice being in top 10.

lin ling is the one who learned ballet. lin ling is the one who learned a new combat technique.

it's so hard for me to imagine that is lin ling and not og nice because the lack of spark in nice's eyes. to imagine that this could be lin ling's future is difficult especially the fact that in the next episode he'll show who he truly is to the public.

yes, they could be to hide spoilers that lin ling will become nice in the first ep and the ending as well; but the fact that we know little to nothing about the og nice is boggling me. what is og nice's name? will we ever get a name? which one is the og nice in pv and which one is lin ling? is the pv a perception of the people of what nice is?

nice, the concept of perfection, not the original nice and not lin ling.

Interesting parallel I found between Budao and Queen:

This hints at Queen once being the innocent young girl that would receive unconditional comfort or support. But somewhere along the way, the floor dropped out from under her and she ended up standing opposite to heroes that believed in that sort of salvation - opposite to Budao, who uttered those exact promises to a girl who could've easily been a young Queen, in a different world.

Something must've happened to Queen for her to close herself off like this - perhaps a betrayal she experienced as a hero? We already know the hero industry is cutthroat, referenced multiple times across different characters under presumably different agencies.

I'm not too sure if Enlighter's scene is specifically about the hero industry, but he did lament over his tanked hero ranking after the True Love Recipe incident and how he couldn't do anything against Nice with the trust value he currently had.

The actual reason X is the #1 hero is that he's the only one of them with a real job. Everyone else has sponsors or is a dog/child/sentient robot so presumably they're not expected to do anything other than heroing. But X is out there doing all the hero stuff AND working full-time and that is truly superhuman material

adding on, choosing to become a hero on your own without sponsors or ANYTHING and it's your own decision for me is somehow 'heroic' – especially the commentary on how 'i-want-to-be-a-hero' is close to a capitalistic ideal with the entertainment industries.

becoming a hero, having a nine-to-five job, and probably doesn't even live in the building where heroes all live is a feat. overworking yourself morning to midnight is absolutely insane especially how much energy that will take. no wonder X takes a lot of sugar or carbs seen in his PV.

it's somehow heroic because X has a decision. yes, he's not entirely different and is still subjected to the social standards of being the top 1 hero for being there; but he has the other life that no one has. if he wants to disappear he can. if he wants to quit then he can. why can he? because X isn't his whole identity as a person and people don't know who he actually is – it's the anonymity that none of them have.

let's say lin ling, lin ling is a person that is balancing who his identity is. lin ling is a normal guy who works in advertising. lin ling is every other citizen before he becomes 'nice'. lin ling wants to be a hero, a real one. from what we see or speculate, we fear he'll forget himself and become entirely of nice's persona. lin ling has a personality different from who nice is.

if this was a different scenario, nice could be lin ling's alter ego like X. but does X have a sponsor? a company that will spin the narrative for him? no, this is different from X's situation, lin ling does not have the decision to become nice or not because he is controlled. X still has the autonomy of a person because it's his choice to be the bystander or be the hero x.

So that pv nice is Lin Ling theory I think holds up for the music promo but the Nice vs Wreck I think is definitely OG Nice. For one I don't see Wreck playing rival for Lin Ling genuinely trying to kill him sure but I don't see him doing all of the theatrics for that. Two I don't think we've ever seen Lin Ling do OG nice signature finger guns? Which makes sense for various reasons. Also in the fight pv Nice doesn't move like a ballerina, he's definitely more idol/pop dance style there in how his body twists.

Also realized he aligns Wrecks arrow so it's straight and then frown into his reflection and I wanna throw up it hurts like how fucking dare the animators make me witness that -sobs-

OH YES!! i forgot to add that about the nice vs wreck pv, as i mostly thought of this one by aniplex. with both pvs, nice's eyes are so empty that i think or decieved that this is the og nice. but i do agree on how og!nice's fighting style has a more idol type – especially when he flies – rather than linling's own ballet style.

linling's face looks like a man you've taken their lover away from them not the face of a man who's about to be expose and is afraid of it

let's be clear, linling has admitted to multiple people he's not nice and it's obvious that his mad because of enlighter (god's eye) for taking moon THEN using her as bait. as well as moon isn't his lover, but still holds a huge part of everything in his life moving forward.

i wonder if x is so different from everyone else in the hero industry is because he has 0 affiliation to any companies. i firmly believe this makes him have much more freedom than the rest, plus there's no manager on his ear yapping their gums out on this-and-that.

x's freedom is shown a lot of times in trailers, endings, and the opening by him being in his "citizen" persona – which we have seen no one have unlike him – a work life that is outside of his hero work that makes him have a separate identity as people there, possibly, only knows him as the 'chill guy who takes all the sugar in the office' than the cool omnipotent hero x.

that doesn't make him obviously free from his responsibilities. he has two jobs where one he can slip away when it's dusk, and the other one he has to work for almost 24/7 that has no time in or out unlike the office job he has. of course, there's other heroes but he's top 1. expectations still weigh on him.

he's enigmatic because no one owns him. think of him like an indie artist with no label company and with the freedom to do anything except they're also stuck in the same system with how the work can take over their lives and the audience views them.

i speak on this in my opinion and belief, how x does every move it's like art itself.

X does have more freedom as a hero than he does as an average employee!!! (Maybe that's why he was shown to smile a lot in his alter ego than his citizen persona in the Movie Concept)

Seeing as the first two episode made the power system to be a direct allegory for Influencers and Idols where your fanbase can be the reason you exist as you are but also your curse. It's not farfetched to put X in the same category as an indie artist like Banksy (a british street artist and political activist whose identity remain unknown) or Exudt (a german graffiti artist for 15 years who is revealed to be a disabled office worker after his death)

The unknown gives room for the people to have free interpertation of the No. 1 Hero. To not let the media and preconception to paint bias idea of him. Hero X might even have the most diverse belief in his fandom. Thus, unironically, it helps makes him stronger because there's no limit to his power when there's no limit to what people think of him. The exact opposite of Nice, whose fandom is stuck with the one notion of his image which is "perfection".

Which begs the question of how Hero X receive his ability in the first place. One of the PVs has establish that there is a previous Hero X before him, so it shouldn't be that easy for just anyone to have an ability - to gain trust - from an enigmatic person who comes out of nowhere.

There has to be a groundwork for it. When and, most importantly, how did he gain trust when no one has any idea who he is?

when you mentioned Banksy and Exudt who are both graffiti artists, i realized in the 6 min pv that x also does graffiti by placing the clones in the walls of the alleyway. i like how he's not shy with his citizen persona using the finger-snapping powers he has in broad daylight, it makes me wonder if they care about who x truly is because they can target him in that pv or his citizen person is just so under the radar.

honestly though, x's character is such a character that theorists love to speculate around just by his potential alone as a character and his intentions, but at the moment all i could speculate the most is how free he is in the world of tbhx. he's free in his hero persona from all the power that he has and can do. he's free in his citizen persona because no one has to target him while walking outside in broad daylight and do the chores that anyone can do. i wonder what else his intentions are.
