A short piece about Alan having a uni-friend

(I was supposed to kill her off but then she became cool)

“The licensed paramedic in me is triggered right now.” Alan sombrely tells his classmate.

“What-?” Kaelynn abruptly halts in her bandaging work, looking up— from her knees suspended in criss-cross formation up against the edge of table— to face him. “Why?”

He stares grimly at her first knee as if it offended him personally. “Probably because I’ve never been forced to sit aside and watch someone else do this without my help before.” His own legs under the table fidgeting with her abandoned skateboard, subconsciously rolling it back and forth as he watches.

For a moment, all she does is stare back at him with a wide, flabbergasted expression, before suddenly bursting into a chuckle. “Oh yeah! I didn’t think of that.” Her focus then manoeuvres straight back to bandaging her knee, as if not acknowledging that Alan’s statement could be considered indirectly as a request.

Her contagious laugh, however, forces him to smile as he admits, “also, that piece of skin dangling there is really freaky.”

She turns to her other knee and grins. “Sorry, lemme just-“ then folds the aforementioned loose skin back over the graze wound.

Alan suddenly slams the table with a silent wheeze, his teary eyes scrunched closed, and Kaelynn can’t help but follow with herself leaning back as air swiftly expels out of her lungs and gaspy huffs of laughter.

just as a reminder for all you wonderful prompt-gifters out there:

the prompts need to be (ideally) 3 words long — or ~ 10-20 characters. if you send in one-word prompts, we most likely will not be able to use it as a prompt.

for example, “sun” is simply too short. it is an interesting object, but it doesn’t give off a strong picture. “scorching sun” would instantly add more meaning. “you are my sun” could equally be very thought provoking.

also our dragon on banner-duty claims that too short prompts make the banners look “ugly” or whatever, but we totally got the dragon-situation under control, so no need to worry about that 😌

we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
