It’s rare that I make text posts, but I wanted to air some thoughts. As a transgender artist I found my perfect livelihood in animation. I know this itself is a privilege in its own right, and I am grateful for having had the opportunity. I got to work within a community inclusive of other queer people, in a medium I love. I’ve been unemployed from the field for two years and don’t expect to be offered the chance to reenter any time soon. An independent practice is an option of course, but I’m looking into a career pivot as well. I feel like my wings have been clipped, I am no longer an expert in any field. My ego makes it hard to generate excitement for other prospects. I need to let go of corporate laurels…

That said, what are other fields that would welcome a trans person like myself? I miss that community - animation was a unique and remarkable thing. I don’t feel cut out for health services or social work, but I want to support other creatives and other queer people.
