James smirked at his friend, the thrill of the kill filling his veins with energy. As if he’d taken a shot of espresso, he perked up, his eyes lighting up like a kid in a candy store. This is what James lived for, the endless possibilities that surrounded their craft.
"God, it’s been so long!"
James sighed loudly, shifting in his seat.
His eyes scanned the faces behind Kris, briefly. He processed all of the faces, the postures, the skin tones, the hair colors; organizing all into his mental library. He wondered if he’d yet to meet the culprit, the Puppeteer could be anyone, or they could be no one.
“I’ll admit I’m a little jealous of all the attention this guy’s getting, but I think if we ever got any coverage like him the fame would go to your fat head!”
Kristopher could visibly see his friend perk up at the comment. It had been a while since they had last killed together - too long, in fact. Kris could see that his friend was just itching to get back at it again. And of course, Kris felt the same way. Spending a month in a half in juvy afforded a person with much more than an itch to get back into old habits - it also was a great place to trade secrets, insider information, what have you. Kristopher had learned a few new tricks since the last time he had seen his redheaded companion.
"Well, why don't we change that? After this fucking lockdown is over, there will be plenty of opportunities to get back in the game." He suggested with a devilish grin sprawled across his face.
As his friend began once more, Kristopher listened, but did not exactly agree with what James was saying. Jealous of the attention? Kris didn't kill for the attention. He killed for the thrill, the fun, and the pleasure he got from watching the life leave a person's eyes. It wasn't the same with animals. Watching a person die at your hand was a completely different ball game. It was like you could see their entire life flash before their eyes and then the lights just went out - poof! His flesh crawled at the thought; he needed to get out of this cafeteria.
"You know I don't do it for the attention or the fame. Your recognition and envy keeps me going well enough." He replied jokingly.
