Hello Again || Kate & Julian
Julian saw her turn to face him, and he only stood still as she reached for his hand on her shoulder and moved it aside so that he wasnât touching her anymore. Shaking his head in the next instant, he looked upon Kateâs face, and the trouble that seemed to be glazed across her expression. He didnât want to embarrass or by any means, but he couldnât just stay still, standing there like an idiot who didnât know what to say to that. He only wanted to make sure she knew he cared about her. After all this time too. She remained in his heavy heart as she always had an air of confidence about her that could bring men to their knees, something he knew he couldnât compete with, but was stupid enough to try to anyways. But, in that sliver of a second, he only watched her searching her face for any clue as to why she was really gone and why it had taken so long to get back, and he let out a soft sigh. âKate?â He asked back, gently, keeping his hands at his side as he gave a short nod while looking upon her. âWhatâs wrong Kate?â Knowing just fragments of her past was enough to know that she could have a rough time adjusting back to friendly touch, but what he didnât know was that it might take more than just getting used to it for her. âYou can tell me anything, alright? Iâm not going to hurt you.â He said again, his voice soft and tender as he wanted to hold his arms out for her to come into his embrace, but unsure if she was even comfortable enough for that.Â
Kate could feel her heart hammering against her chest, an inconsistent pressure that came and went every other second. She could feel his eyes on her and didnât have to wonder what expression he had on right now. He was probably judging her, or maybe he was worried, or maybe he was just completely freaked out. God, any and all of those guesses couldâve been right, which was the main reason the girl didnât dare look up. She couldnât blame him either, she was acting weird, ridiculous, stupid even. If anyone else were to see her like this, scratch that, no one would ever see her like this, maybe Clint, but no one else. If any other person were here, besides Clint, she wouldâve kicked them out a long time ago. Despite the gentle nature of it, the sudden sound of Julianâs voice pulled her out of her thoughts. She blinked a few times, as if her eyes were just starting to adjust to her surroundings, as if sheâd been somewhere else, but then her head came up and her eyes darted to his face. She didnât see a hint of judgement on his face, no, there was worry, concern, maybe some confusion, but mainly worry. Genuine concern and worry. When did she get so close to Julian that he was similar to Clint in her mind? His voice reconnected her to the real world, again. âI, Iâm sorry, I was just, thinking.â She explained rather pathetically, her eyes drifting away from his face and to the floor. His words were so kind, spoken so softly, normally she would be offended by this, but it was so nice. She felt safe, protected, even with her lack of weapons. âI know, and, I, appreciate that, itâs really...â She paused, trying to think of a way to say thank you, some way that would get the point across without sounding like a complete idiot, then she just moved. Stepping forward, albeit hesitantly, Kate raised her arms up and moved them around his neck, stiffly hugging him. âThank you Julian, Iâm sorry Iâm like this, every time we see each other, but thank you for still being here, for me.â
âIâm sure you are.â He scoffed. âNice to meet you Kate, Iâm Theon.â He introduced himself holding out a muddy hand for her to shake.
Kate smiled smugly, enjoying the way he agreed with her statement of always being right. Even Clint agreed with her on that statement. Seeing the dirty, extended hand, her eyes lit up mischievously. Scooping up some mud into her hand, Kate grabbed is hand before he could take it away, getting mud everywhere, again. âGood to meet you Theon.â
Without looking up she said, âmy lighter isnât working.âÂ
Kate relaxed, understanding that the frustration wasnât directed at her but towards the lighter. âSorry, but Iâve got nothing to help with that.â
Had he angered her? Oh, well he didnât know her so he couldnât really care all that much. âDo you now?â he asked with a smile, while getting his own hot chocolate in the mean while. âI suppose innocent students that just want to get some sugar indeed are big threats that should be taken care of.â
Kate could easily tell that the boy didnât care, not for her or anything that didnât directly affect him. She wonders, briefly, if she wouldâve ended up like that, if her father had raised her differently. Pushing away the thoughts, the Agent stepped away from the boy and took a sip from her hot chocolate. âA reckless student who doesnât understand that there are plenty of agents around here with trigger happy fingers needs to learn to keep his distance, or else someone will mistake him for a threat and not hesitate like I did.â
Hello Again || Kate & Julian
âThen weâll have to make time for a special occasion sometime soon then.â He smirked off still, feeling the cheekiness return once again. Even after all was said and done, at the end of the day, Julian knew when to joke around with Kate and have his mood completely turned upside-down. It was a nice prospect, and after her being gone for so long, it was nice to settle back into that routine and comfort that came with her. Plus, he couldnât help but always imagine the spandex aspect of it all. He was of the male species, and a speedy one at that, so it was hard to not let his mind wander so easily. âI could if youâd like.â he shrugged slightly, still grinning smugly. There was a feeling of confidence that came along with his attitude and everything felt right. âIâm not a come-and-go kind of guy, so I donât know where you got the idea that Iâd ever want to leave before you could thank me.â He approached her from behind slowly, still smiling all the while. âPlus, like I said earlier, I could get this whole place neat and tidy in minutes.â He put a hand on her shoulder then as if he were letting her in on secret.
âYes we will.â Kate giggled, actually giggling, something that felt so immature and childish that she could barely believe the noise was coming from her. But, she couldnât help it, the Paradox that is Julian Nichols. The smile on his face, his posture, and just the look in his eyes wouldâve fooled anyone into thinking that he was completely confident in this conversation, that he talks about these things all the time without batting an eye. But, the slight red tint to his cheeks told her that wasnât really the case. Despite his possible discomfort or flustered aspects, the conversation just felt so natural and relaxing that Kate just couldnât stop. Steve wouldâve scolded her for talking about something so inappropriate and âraunchyâ but this was Julian, she didnât think there was any problem with that. After hearing that Julian didnât really have a problem with doing all of the cleaning for her, Kate didnât see why he couldnât. Turning her back to him, she moved her bags to the closet and closed the doors, sheâd finished unpacking her clothes some time ago, now she just needed to do some laundry that was in a basket a few feet away from her. It wouldnât be hard for her to do that while heâs cleaning the floors and picking up old trash. Yeah, this could work. She could practicallyhear the smirk on his face and knew that he couldnât wait to show off. But, despite hearing his voice and his footsteps come towards her, despite literally everything that couldâve warned her of his approach, the agent still froze when she felt his hand on her shoulder. It wasnât a rough grasp or a quick movement, so why she suddenly spun around and looked at Julian with wide eyes sheâll never know, or at least sheâll never admit to. Still kind of in a daze, Kateâs shaky, bandaged hand moved up and carefully took Julianâs, moving it from her shoulder so that she could get a proper look at it. His hand was soft and warm, maybe a bit calloused, but nothing like the hands of those that she shouldtense under. It wasnât really a threat, but her hands, her bruised, cut, and aching hands, they were. They were a threat to him. The sight of that man, bruised, bloodied, and begging for mercy flashed across her eyes and, as if suddenly shocked, Kate let go of his hand and stepped back.
âFuck.â Elisa tried to get her lighter to light her cigarette, but knew it was useless.Â
Kate was just on her way back inside when she heard the girl curse. Curious, the Agent turned and made her way over to the girl. âEverything alright?â
He eyed her defensive posture. âSeriously lady, who has frightened you so much that you have the urge to take down students?â he asked her but it wasnât in an unfriendly manner. More joking than anything else. âYouâre an agent? Thatâs cool.â he said. âWhat kind of work do you do? Or is that classified?â
Kate just barely resisted the urge to outright glare at the student, his words striking a nerve that not only annoyed her, but angered her as well. She resisted only because he was joking, he thought he was being funny, he didnât know that his words were hurtful. Besides, Kate is one of those that believes people learn from consequences, specifically the harsh ones. âI just kick ass, thatâs pretty much all you need to know about what I do.â She stated, relaxing a bit because her confident nature was coming back to her.
She was rather short with him which told him she was probably not as amused with the whole situation as he was. Which often seemed to be the case with him and women. âGood.â he said. âDidnât mean to scare you there.â Or perhaps he and Brandon had a bet that he would be able to make her spill her hot chocolate and he had just lost ten bucks, but well one couldnât have anything in life.Â
âAre you an inhuman student here?â Kate asked suddenly, having a feeling that would explain a majority of the situation. Most of the students here believed that they could get away with anything because their powers made them invincible. When, in reality, that was far from the truth. But, Kate is the type of person who doesnât like to warn people of the consequences of their actions. Consequences help people grow, no matter how harsh they are.
Auroraâs eyes flickered to Kateâs hard for a moment. What a delicious sound it was. She watched Kate take a step back. She didnât seem all to unfriendly but the situation was still a little to uncertain to tell for sure. âOh, Iâm glad.â Aurora said. âAre you alright? Your heart is racing.â
Kate pressed her hand harder into her chest, hoping that doing so would some how force her heart to slow its erratic beating. She didnât know why, but the idea of this girl knowing just how fast her heart was beating was unsettling. But Kate is nothing if not Hawkeye, an agent of Shield. âYes, Iâm fine, just a little jumpy.â She said whilst forcing a smile to her face.
âSorryâŠâ He said apologizing because of apologizing. âYou think this is fun?â He questioned splashing her with muddy water. They were wet and muddy anyways, it couldnât get worst. âI guess your right? It is.â He laughed
Kate just laughed and shook her head when the other apologized, not minding it at all. Itâs nothing a simple wash wonât fix. âOf course, Iâm always right.â She said, still laughing as she nudged him playfully. âIâm Kate by the way, probably shouldâve told you that before all this.â
Kyle had teleported right behind her, he hadnât meant to startle her but he supposed that people appearing out of nowhere did have that effect sometimes. âWhoops.â he said with his usual smug smirk. âSorry âbout that.â Oh, she was hot too. He probably shouldnât be looking at that. âDid you spill it? I could buy you a new one.â
Kate didnât like him. She didnât hear any footsteps or breathing, she didnât sense anything, which meant one of two things. Either sheâs loosing her touch, or heâs got some power that allowed him to just appear there. Now, itâs entirely possible that sheâs lost her touch, but after recent events, sheâs been extremely alert and aware. The look on his face told him that it wasnât her, the look also told her that she shouldâve smacked him when she had the chance. âNo, I didnât spill it.â
Hello Again || Kate & Julian
At the mention of spandex, it was like she had never left for all those months. Julian couldnât help but remember the long winded conversations he could have with her about the tight fitting clothes, something he not only found extremely hot on the young woman, but also something that just suited her, even in the worst of situations. He only grinned, feeling a heat rise to his face as he imagined her in the spandex catsuit one again, and how every inch of her body could be hugged so very graciously. âYou know when you tell me not to do something, Iâm gonna go and do it anyway, especially when it comes to finding your collection of spandex.â He wiggled his brows back over to her as he felt so much more comfortable around her these days. She knew just what to say to bring him back from the slump he was in, but he couldnât tell if this was just due to the fact that it had been so long, or if he had given up all together. âDusting. Iâm on it.â He quickly replied back, getting a feel for the place with quick scan of the room. Then, the real fun began. He knew he could have gone faster, but, he didnât want to make Kate feel inadequate in cleaning her own room, so even though he zipped around the place, opening the windows and then searching for a towel to dust the place, he only managed to do it in half the pace, rather than getting that all done in a split second. Taking in some fresh air, as Kate had said the room needed, Julian took a âbreatherâ without so much as a weary look on his face. Then, without further ado, he cleaned every surface, sweeping the place and making sure no speck of dust got left behind, all in the fraction of a quick minute. He joined her side once all that was done, taking a look at the bed. âWhatâs next?â He chimed in with a smug look.
Kate enjoyed having Julian back, not only in her presence, but in her life. She needed someone to joke and laugh with her, someone who made her smile. Of course thereâs always Clint, but thereâs something about Julian that just makes her feel at ease. Clint will always be her best friend, the one who brought her into this ârealâ world, but she doesnât have to worry about someone coming to attack Julian. At least, she hopes she doesnât. Heâs a bit young to have any mortal enemies that want him dead. Then again, so is she. Kate giggled, actually fucking giggled, when Julian wiggled his eyebrows at her. How could not though? He was acting absolutely ridiculous. âI keep my collection hidden away, for special occasions.â She said, making sure to talk slowly near the end of her statement. Just after getting the fitted sheet on the mattress and the second sheet over that, she turned around to get the blanket and saw that Julian was done, a smug look on his face while he had the audacity to ask her what he could do next. Sighing dramatically, Kate looked at Julian with a raised eyebrow. âDo you want to do all the cleaning?â She asked, resting a hand on her hip. âCause thatâs an option. As long as you donât leave just after finishing up. If you do that I canât thank you.â When it comes to practice and sports, Kateâs all about movement and exercise, but cleaning, cleaning is not something she really enjoys, it just feels like a waste of time.
âSo you wouldnât care if I threw you-â He started before tripping and knocking them both into the puddle. âShit. Iâm sorry.  I wasnât going to actually. Iâm a mess.â Theon apologized profusely.
Kate could already tell where his sentence was going, but just when he finished it they both ended up falling into the large puddle. Rather than being upset or angry like a normal girl, she just laughed. âDonât apologize,â She paused, shifting a bit so that she could get comfortable, not caring about the mess one bit, âThis is fun!â
âCalm down sweetheart.â Aurora said, her red lips turning into a smile. âI donât need another one of these.â she said while holding up her broken wrist. âYou think thereâs another cup for me or did you take the last bit?â
Kate moved her free hand to her chest, as if checking to see if her heart hadnât actually broken though her rib cage like it felt like itâd done. So many curses race through her mind, but she managed to keep them in as she forced a smile to her face. Part of her wondered if the girl broke her wrist because of a similar situation, but wasnât about to just say that out loud. âThere should be more than enough for you.â She said, stepping far off to the side, wanting her personal space back.
âWoa, calm down!â Cal said while taking a step back. He had just been reaching over to grab some sugar. Everyone was so tense around here lately. He was rather glad she had a mug in her hands else he was pretty sure she might have slapped him. He looked had her. Oh god, she looked an awful lot like Tessa. What a brilliant way to start the day. He could hardly look at her, it was that painful. Yet he wouldnât be Cal if he wouldnât at least attempt to keep things light. He held up the sugar pack. âWas just going for this, wasnât planning on assasinating you or anything.â
Kate was partially temped to reach for a blade or something, but the empty feeling at the side of her hip reminded her that she had no weapons to reach for. Then again, she still had her fists, and Clint has told her plenty of times that she had a good punch. Smiling a bit to herself, Kate relaxed. Besides a nice hot drink would probably keep someone off of her. When the Agent came back to her senses, she figured that she didnât even need to defend herself, this was a boy, a kid, she was standing next to. Besides, he was barely a threat, she could easily take him. âSo you say,â She said, nodding slowly, âBut, you can never be too careful when youâre an Agent of Shield.â
