I’ve seen a lot of bullshit going around in fandom, and I think it’s time that we cleared some things up. The touching without permission(!!!!!), the asking of inappropriate and uncomfortable questions - it’s wrong and it’s got to stop.

Imagine if you were at work and a customer who you didn’t know came up and touched your face while making a sexual innuendo. Imagine how embarrassed and violated you would feel. Now imagine that this happens on a regular basis, and you might have some idea how this behaviour impacts the people you’re accosting.

Actors at cons and press conferences are just trying to do their job, and while, granted, part of that job is to entertain, it is only within the confines of a film that has been written and directed (often) by someone else. Getting angry at them about their characters actions? Wrong. Touching them without their permission? Wrong (and I can’t believe I need to write this!!!). Asking them questions that make them feel uncomfortable and objectified? Wrong, wrong, a thousand times wrong!

Outside of their film, it is not their job to entertain you. It is certainly not their job to entertain your harassment, sexualisation and objectification. You do not have the right to touch them, to ask inappropriate and often sexual questions, or to get angry with them about their characters or their opinions of these characters. You do not have a right to these people and their bodies!

Full stop, period, end of fucking discussion.

Dear fans

Can we please stop posting sneaky candid photos of Seb please?

Look, I’ve heard all the arguments of “he’s a celeb”, “he knew what he was getting into”, “he’s in a public place”, but at the end of the day, choosing acting as a profession shouldn’t mean you lose your privacy or your right to be a human being (as opposed to an object). That may be how society is now but if we’re not doing our own best to not feed the beast then we are part of the problem.

And I also understand there will always be paparazzi pics, but as fans (FANS!!) of Seb shouldn’t we do our best to respect him?

And I also get that you saw Seb (SEB!!) out and about and OMG this is super exciting!! And I’m not trying to take that excitement away from you. And I’m not even saying don’t take sneaky photos of him because I know we all want to remember that moment. But if you must, please just keep it to your private collection. Show your friends, show your fam, show your coworkers or classmates or whoever around you, but please, can we PLEASE just keep them off the public World Wide Web?

Seb deserves to live his life with the freedom to go where he wants to do and hang out with who he wants to hang out with without every moment and every interaction being scrutinized. Maybe the paparazzi will catch him and sell the photos, maybe they won’t, they don’t care about Seb (they care about money), but as FANS of Seb, as people who CARE, let’s make a pact not to expose his private life on the Internet.

PS: this doesn’t apply to photos of fans with Seb where he’s aware he’s being photographed. Those lucky ppl, post away!

One of the most interesting parts for me was this explanation of Bucky’s containment chamber.

“I wanted these units to feel like he’s an animal–caught in a trap–and even with all his strength, he wouldn’t be able to escape.”

“The Winter Soldier is arguably the most dangerous criminal in the world, and this chamber really mirrors his intensity. With his metal arm, the necessary steps needed for containing him needed to be extreme. We created an electric pulse, administered by the chair, that would go through him every so often and keep him from using the arm. You couldn’t just have him in a really strong chair with manacles because he’s far stronger than that. The idea that the chair needs to be powered to keep Bucky at bay also plays into the story: When the power gets cut, the electric pulses stop, and suddenly he has the potential to escape.”

“Bucky is held in place by some hefty clamps that deliver a nice electrical charge to keep him still.”

You can read the rest yourself. But, this part makes me sick honestly, Bucky’s been tortured by electricity at the hands of Hydra for decades, his mind wiped by electric currents zapping through his head. And the FIRST thing the supposed “good law enforcement” does when they capture him is use electricity to subdue him to make sure he can’t escape. They are, essentially, torturing him. It was in the name of “containment” but I feel like constantly zapping him with electricity is still torture.
