My degree exhibition piece. All the hard work and dedication has been well worth it. Come and see my work at the grand theatre Swansea 28th -31st may.
Surface Pattern Design Exhibition at The Grand Theatre Swansea. Come and have a look at the excellent work on display by the class of 2013. Open to the public 28th - 31st May.
Today it was time to hem my napkins, picnic blanket and my collection of samples. I'm so pleased with what I have produced so far. Hopefully my exhibition will do my hard work justice.
There is just over a week to go before I have to set up my degree exhibition 'Spectrum'. Im busy sorting out all the pieces which will be part of my exhibit. This is a sneak peak of what's to come. The degree exhibition promises to showcase a exciting array of work by designer makers, contemporary applied artists, and designes for fashion and interiors. Public viewing of the Surface Pattern Design 2013 exhibition 'Spectrum' is open at The Grand Theatre Swansea 28th - 31st of May.
My digital print samples cut and labeled ready to be put into my press packs to be sent out to different companies and galleries.
The last few weeks I have spent printing samples on the digital printer to check the colours for my final napkin collections and for the several napkin samples which will be shown as part of my exhibition. The images above show napkin collections 1 & 2. They include underwater imagery for my sketchbook layered on top of my salt works.
Getting ready for my degree show, its all starting to come together now. I'm making a picnic set inspired by the theme 'underwater'. 4 napkins 1 picnic blanket 4 plates 4 cups And a collections of samples.
Busy busy busy, my final year is coming to and end.
Current Photoshop patterns I'm working on from the jellyfish drawings I did in the National Museum Cardiff.
These are a selection of my drawings from today's trip to the National Museum Cardiff. Corals, underwater texture and sea creatures.
Today I returned to the National Museum Cardiff to continue to draw from their collections. Focusing on the theme of underwater I drew textures and complete object. Photographs of my sketchbook pages will follow in another post.
These are my photographs which have been chosen for the degree show booklet. They show pages from my sketchbook and inspiration for the current project.
Now my Dissertation has been handed in its time to concentrate on drawing and studio work. 2 weeks ago I visited Cardiff National Museum. I began drawing the patterns on the coral that was exhibited there. Through out the day I continued to look at objects found under the sea. This has inspired my studio work. I have decided to leave the navigation charts and elements of shipping behind and concentrate on the theme of under water. The photographs above show drawings from my sketchbook I drew at the museum. These are, Coral, sections of marine creatures, and textures from rock and coral formations.
During reading week I have been concentrating on creating new imagery for my current uni project. I have spent time creating these marks from what i saw on sailing boats, I used cocktails sticks, a needle and a clam shell to create the marks.
While researching artists for my logbook for my current project I came across a blog by Sarah Clark. This series of work by her is with ink and water. This is simular to the mark making work that I have been doing during reading week.
During reading week I have set myself the task of working on Photoshop for a few hours a day. I have started to create a few patterns using different imagery I have produced for the project so far. These are two examples.
Last week I look a trip to Penarth marina to collect some photographic research, I concentrated on the different pieces of equipment I could find on the decks of the sailing boats.
