November is Native American Heritage Month!
Thereâs not a lot of Indigenous custom content, so I decided to make a mini-set of artwork that celebrates Indigenous Resistance. To learn more about Indigenous Resistance history and current efforts, check out The Red Nation Podcast or their reading lists about topics including: foundational texts on Indigenous struggle and settler colonialsim, Queer Indigenous Feminism, Indigenous Socialism, Black Liberation, Abolition, and Environmental Justice.

The first set of artwork includes flyers I found while doing research last year on Women of All Red Nations, an organization founded out of the American Indian Movement (AIM) to address issues Indigenous women were facing that were ignored by men in the movement. This included conducting and publishing research to combat Uranium Mining which resulted in the contamination of drinking water, and mass forced sterilization of Indigenous women. To support the documentation of Indigenous womenâs history, please check out the Warrior Women Project here to share their stories and donate to their mission.Â
The second set of artwork features posters created by Water Protectors. Water Protectors took to the ground in 2016 to combat the Dakota Access Pipeline, shifting international attention back to the complete disregard of Indigenous lives, culture, and treaty rights by the United States government under both the Obama and Trump administrations. To learn more about Water Protectors you can watch oral history interviews here or watch the Black Snake Killaz documentary by Unicorn Riot on youtube here.Â
Finally, the last artwork features a flag of the American Indian Movement, and a Defend the Sacred flag. To help support current indigenous activism, you can participate in local actions or donate to the Lakota Peopleâs Law Project and Water Protector Legal Collective.Â

Kakashi is a #girldad and you canât change my mind.
But 100% he and his partner (who wanted a daughter real bad because they werenât sure they could handle a Kakashi clone) had a bet of who the babe would come out looking more like and Kakashi is smitten that she looks just like him, and he never lets them forget it.
He is super worried about her hair being as wild as his though, and has nightmares about it getting caught, or pulled on, or tangled (which would hurt her lilâ head) so he learns how to do really good (like hella good cuz Kakashi is good at everything he does, thank you very much) ponytails and braids before she even has hair by practicing on himself. Sometimes Mirai let's him practice on her, though she reminds him sheâs only doing it for the baby because she knows she would have liked it if her dad had been able to do her hair.
They definitely fall asleep on the couch snuggling almost every night. She curls up in his lap and he traces little circles in her back. She puts her head on his chest and begins to doze off; nothing makes her fall asleep as fast as the soft little beats of Kakashiâs heart.
He never put pressure on her to become a shinobi. He thought it was important she choose her own path in life. Obviously she wants to be one just like her dad though, and he melts when she runs up to him one day and says, âDaddy Iâm gonna be a ninja just like you and Grandpaâ.
10/10 gives in to anything when she flashes him the puppy dog eyes.
Speaking of, first day she comes home from daycare and says âDad, today I made a best friend and heâs really coolâ and Kakashi literally goes out and gets her a puppy to be with her 24/7 cuz he doesnât like the thought of boys within 100ft of his lilâ girl.
At the same time though, despite being his first kid, Team 7 was the âfirst bornâ who broke him in to parenting. So she gets away with a lot of stuff other kids her age donât. Cuz Kakashi, believing itâs important that she experiences the world and becomes self-reliant is like âWhatever, just donât do anything stupidâ and his partner is all âSeriously? Not even going to ask where sheâs going?â but heâs like âWhat? I raised myself and look how great I turned out.â
Being so busy with work is the absolute hardest thing for him as a parent. He definitely tricks other people into babysitting by telling his daughter to ask them (and maybe drops hints of what to say) cuz he knows they wonât say no to a child that stinkinâ cute.
âSakura, youâre so pretty! Can you show me how to brush my hair like yours?â Boom. Heâs free all day.
But her favorite person to spend time with (other than her dad) is Guy. He spoils her. Ice cream for dinner whenever she wants. They always play really fun games that he made up, and he exaggerates stories about times heâs âsaved Kakashiâ, so she thinks he is amazing.
Even though heâs busy, Kakashi always, always makes an effort to be there when she needs him. They have scheduled picnic dates multiple times a week and he is -hear me out on this one- never late.
(and Sakura and Naruto chew him out for it all the time like âI KNEW THOSE WERENâT REAL EXCUSES YOU LAZY-â)
