February's Birchbox! I did really like this months box I just haven't had time to write due to work. This month I received a Pop beauty eyeshadow trio, Spectrum eyeshadow brush, Wish shave cream, Keeome hydration mask and Beaver daily moisture conditioning spray. The eye shadow trio is quite cute and i was fairly impressed with the pigment of them. The three shades are just the kinda shades I look for to wear everyday so it's definitely something I will use. I was also super excited to receive my Spectrum collections brush! I have wanted to buy one of their sets for a long time but just haven't brought myself to pay it yet, plus they're always selling out 🙈 but you wouldn't be surprised if you've seen them, they're BEAUTIFUL! The brush is so soft and light wait that I'm definitely going to have to buy a set in the near future, because you can never have too many brushes right? The wish shaving cream has been quite nice I just wish the sample was a bit bigger. It has a light fruity smell and leaves your skin feeling nice and soft. One of the reasons this post is so late is because I just haven't had much time to try the Keeome hydration mask but yesterday I finally got the chance and I actually really liked it. The serum used feels really silky so the tissue mask just sits nicely in your face for 25 minutes and then your skin feels amazing. It's designed to combat the 'extra stresses in daily life' which is definitely something I need! I'm always s stressed and my skin does pay for it sometimes so this was a nice way to just relax and make my skin feel great. I would have to say that the Beaver conditioning spray is the product I've used least from this box. After spraying it on my face a few times I saw that Birchbox had posted on Instagram about about how strong it makes your hair! I felt a bit silly🙈 quite often I rush into the box without looking at what the products are properly. I have used it a couple of times on my hair and I do think it's makes my hair feel really nice, however it doesn't help with untangling my hair (not many products do though) and so I won't use it much because I'd just have to use other products as well and I don't want to be overloading my hair. I'm super excited for next months box which comes with the Benefit they're real double lipstick and liner!
Last week I decided to treat myself to some Soap&Glory goodies! I bought Hocus Focus which is an illuminator and Sexy Mother Pucker XL lip plumping gloss. I love Soap&Glory products and think that their cosmetic line is quite impressive when it comes to quality. So Hocus Focus is an illuminator so you can use it with/under your foundation like a primer to get an all over glow or you can use is as a highlighter. If you're like me and you like to use a matte foundation then this can be really great to use as a primer. It gives a nice dewy glow to your face that you don't usually get when using matte products. I have used it as a highlighter as well and it gives a really nice but subtle pearlescent shine, but I prefer to use powder highlighters. The Sexy Mother Pucker line from Soap&Glory has always been one of my favourite lip collections. They all smell so sweet like chocolate and it's great. I love using the lip plumping glosses so I thought I'd try the XL gloss. I really love the feeling it gives you. It's a strange sensation if you've never tried it but it's like have pins and needles in your lips, it doesn't hurt but it tingles a lot. To me the results are noticeable, it really does plump my lips a little but sadly it doesn't last very long, at least not on me. I really like it because it's like a feel good product, it gives me just that little extra bit of confidence and boosts my mood. They were £11 and £10 respectively but Boots have an offer on Soap&Glory at the minute where you can buy one and get another half price. If you've tried them before let me know what you think!
Okay... so I have said before that I'm not a big fan of dry shampoo but I've actually started to use it a bit more lately. I wash my hair everyday, sometimes even twice and it's not a good habit to have, I'm stripping my hair of it's natural oils. Out of every brand I've tried Batiste is by far the best dry shampoo and plenty of other people would agree with me! I'm really loving the new rose gold scent, it's described as 'fresh and fruity' but to me it smells kinda sweet and vanilla like. I've found that it's best to let it sit for a good 10 minutes after spraying it on before running it in. I decided to really push the boat out and try their new range of 2 in 1 dry shampoo and conditioner. It's supposed to work like dry shampoo at he roots but also target dry ends. For me it didn't really work, it was not the quick fix I needed to stop my hair looking greasy🙈. I don't see how a product can soak up the grease in your hair and also hydrate the rest of it? However the rest of my hair felt lovely and soft so I would use it again but more to finish off a look like maybe after curling my hair. I would definitely suggest people try it though because everyone has a different hair type and maybe it just didn't work on mine, and it was really nice that it made my hair so soft. I can't quite remember how much they cost and I can't find the prices online! But they were both reasonable and Boots and Superdrug seem to have pretty good offers on Batiste products. Kate xo

Last week I had a makeover at the Benefit counter and afterwards I bought the Brow Zings kit! I tried it for myself this week and I’m in love with it, it’s super easy to use and so impressive😍. It includes a wax, powder, extendable brush and mini tweezers. As far as I’m aware it’s available in 6 shades, the shade I used is number 5. You start by shaping and outlining your brows with the wax and then start to fill them in and then use the powder to set the wax in place. The brush is really good and because it’s thin you can make your brows as think or thick as you want them! I would really recommend this product, it is a bit pricey at £24.50 but with Benefit you know you’re guaranteed quality and it looks like it should last a while with the amount of product you get. So much love for this ❤️.
So last week I tried the Garnier moisture bomb tissue mask! It’s the first time I’ve used a mask like this and I really enjoyed it. I struggle to get it on to start with and think that next time I use one of these it will definitely be with friends because I can imagine it being quite a laugh 🙈 You apply the tissue mask with the blue side facing out and then once it’s in place you remove the blue part. The mask works pretty well, it definitely made my skin feel nice and soft and I would use one again. However I don’t know if it’s really lasted, this might just be because I moisturise a lot and already have soft skin so maybe I’m not the best judge for it but it is a fun experience and I’d recommend them for any sleepover or girly day because they are fun to use. It stays pretty secure on your face so you can walk around whilst it's on without worrying it's going to fall off. I got mine from Superdrug and they’re on offer at the minute for 99p instead of £1.49, they’re worth the money!

Swatches from the @maccosmetics burgundy times nine palette that I posted a couple of weeks ago 😍 I'm still in love with it, I've used it nearly everyday since I bought it! #makeup #mac #burgundytimesnine #katesmakeupbag #eyeshadow #swatches
Shout out to the @benefitcosmeticsuk counter in Debenhams @whiteroseleeds 💕 Got a free makeover due to their current promotion and wanted to buy everything she used on me 😩 I ended up buying #browzings because I love how she made my brows look, I'll review it properly once I've had a go myself! 😍 #katesmakeupbag #blog #beauty #makeup #benefitcosmetics
January’s Birchbox!
So Birchbox kicked off the year with the Sprinkle happiness box and I have to say I found it quite cute. I received the Lord&Berry Conceal-it Crayon in Ivory, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse, Merci Handy Hand cream in Flower power, Nails Inc polish in Colville mews and Vita Coco Coconut Oil. They were all products/brands I’d not tried before so I was interested to see what I was going to think of this box.
My favourite product in the box has definitely been the Merci Handy hand cream. Since I got Flower power I was expecting it to smell floral which isn’t always my favourite but it’s actually quite sweet. It does a good job at keeping your hands soft and has tiny little beads in it that break down as you rub it in. This was a full size product and it’s a great size for your pocket to have on the go in the cold weather.
I’ve enjoyed using the Vita coco Coconut oil and really like it for the dry skin I get on my elbows and also my lips! Obviously coconut oil is a big thing lately and people are loving it for it’s versatility but I’ve not yet explored much with it beyond using it as a moisturiser.
I was really excited to try the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse, which is a dry oil, because lately I’ve been wanting to try a beauty oil to see what they’re like. It’s really good for softening your skin but I’ve ended up using it mainly as a form of highlighter! I’ve found that on the the cheek bones it creates a nice subtle dewy glow.
I did like the Lord&Berry concealer but a this moment in time i’m remaining faithful to my MAC concealer. The nail polish was also nice and I liked the shade but I never wear nail polish due to work.
Have you all enjoyed your January boxes? I’m so excited for next months box when everyone will receive a Spectrum makeup brush!!! Their brushes are so pretty and I’ve been dying to try them.
One of my favourite lotions is the LUSH Charity Pot! It's all around great, great for your skin, great smell and great for communities everywhere. It's a lovely little pot of joy and I would recommend it to anyone, I use it all the time to keep my hands soft and it works wonders. The pot costs just over £5 but I can't remember the exact price. All of the money (excluding VAT) is donated to charities and foundations that support different causes. You can check out Lush's website to find out more about it 😊
