Life drawing with the Central Australian Art Society last Wednesday. It was the model's first time posing, and she did such a beautiful job.

It's been a long time since I've done life drawing, so it's been a joy getting back into it, using familiar and unfamiliar mediums. I'm enjoying using polychromo and water soluble pencils more than regular graphite.

Today's my birthday and I'd like to share a new comic with you, it's called Marginalia. It's a love letter to all the weirdness of medieval manuscripts, and you can read it by unfolding a single sheet of paper!

I had an idea for a fan art painting based on a photograph of Billie Eilish by Kelia Anne MacCluskey. As I was painting it, I started seeing it as a Magic the Gathering token, so I mocked it up for fun. I kinda like the idea of music artist inspired tokens, so i may do a couple more and make this a fan art series.

'La Belle et sa Bête' Here's my contribution to @heatherhitchman and her wonderful #JunicornInTerratoff prompt: chain. It was once believed the only way to capture a unicorn was to lull it into a sense of ease via the wiles of a maiden, often a virgin. The beast would lay it's head in her lap and fall asleep, allowing her to slip a golden harness or chain over its head. The lady and the unicorn was a popular theme in medieval tapestries, and are thought to be allegories of the five senses. I was inspired by Italian Renaissance portraits of nobel ladies for this piece. This project will culminate in a Kickstarter, with profits being split among participating artists. We need artists for the open spots in our roster! Yesterday I started a pencil sketch of this guy posted by @fieldmuseum and today I finished painting him in. Which do you like better? I actually lean towards the pencil this time. I usually dislike my pencil drawings, but there was something about this one I really liked. I don't draw animals often either, but I do enjoy this type of thing. I miss the Chicago Field Museum, it's always been a happy place for me. I miss spending time there sketching, which I did regularly while in college. I got a new watercolor pallete the other day, though it's larger than I was expecting. My plan was to have something dedicated to plein air that I can keep with the rest of my outdoor setup.
