Realizing I never made an intro post!

hiiii my name is kathy

I’m a digi and traditional artist and have been for about six years now :D

im also an oc creator and storywriter. i mostly just create ocs and a story and a world for them but i fail to write any actual content like book chapters n stuff due to lack of motivation

some of my current interests/fandoms are:

PHM, Iron lung (yk where this is going), BLOODYMARY, good omens, 911, 911: Lone Star, Percy Jackson, MCU, X-men, Simon Snow, Spooky Month, Hadestown (im invested in many musical fandoms I love musical theatre- Hadestown is just my favorite), Stranger Things, IT, Arcane, The Walking Dead, Southpark, Marauders (trying to get more into it, pls someone give me fic recs!!), The Outsiders, Sally Face, Deadplate, Welcome Home, The House on the Cerulean Sea, Maze Runner (newt x Thomas foreverrrrrr), TADC (kinda not really?), Sherlock: BBC adaptation, and Lord of the Flies (book and TV show)

if anyone sees these and has fic recs/related fandoms they think I would like feel free to share! im always open to learning abt new stuff and joining new fandoms

my special interests, unrelated to fandoms, include space and animals (mostly marine life, like SHARKS!! My favorite animal is a whale shark).

i wish more people talked about the political undertones in the phm book.

What i've been thinking about recently is the way Andy "Apolitical" Weir hardcore stereotypes each nationality he represents. the Chinese officials are spying on our scientists. the Russian officers are 80% vodka. this Dutch/German is stern. whatever the fuck was going on with that Canadian. like ok my man we GET it. even if we didn't know anything about Weir, we can clearly deduce this book was written by an American from its sheer lack of self-awareness, especially when it comes to stereotypes about Americans-- you ever talk to a non-american who witnessed american behavior in the wild?

Andy Weir (probably) pictures himself, and by extension Grace, as the Normal and Default, and so he doesn't portray any American quirks or stereotypical behavior (other than the "Thinking In Imperial", which doesn't really extend to outside of Grace's head) However, in doing so, Weir is actually inadvertently portraying an American who is totally oblivious to his own behavior and biases. Which is, I would say, the prototypical American behavior. Weir just didn't know he was writing a stereotypical American because he was just portraying himself a Regular Guy.

so by criticizing the american-centric mindset, I'm sorry to say, Weir has, on a technicality, stumbled into being pretty woke. Unfortunate. he won't let it happen again

So, I'm friends with someone who makes airplanes for a living. They wish to remain anon. I tossed them some SM-13 renders to see if they could make anything of it (for wiki purposes), and got this in response...

I’m pretty sure it’s common knowledge that Simon was tramautized by Eden, right?

I like to imagine Eden had very high standards for all of the people living there because there simply wasn’t room for failure, since the population is so low.

So I imagine that even after living with Grace and Rocky and becoming best friends with Adrian on Erid, Simon thought he had moved past a lot of the trauma that Eden had given him (or at least worked through it).

Wrong

Imagine Simon is just hanging out with Grace (possibly date night) and he spills/knocks over/breaks something. It instinctively sends a thick wave of anxiety over him and he can’t help but begin to panic because he was conditioned to think that a single, small mistake meant immediate punishment + probably praying for hours. And it breaks Grace’s heart to see how strongly Eden is still effecting him after all these years.

I really like the headcannon that Eridians exchange small pieces of each other as an equivalent to wedding rings or a couple getting a matching tattoo. I’m not sure who originally came up with the idea, but if someone could share me their user I would love to give them credit :D

I made their design by taking photos of fire ember off google and splicing them together to form the general shape of their body. Then I gave it an outline and stuff. Last I drew the little doodles on the bottom
