ngl I’m not that sad bc as soon as lando crossed that line as winner, the WDC lost value in my eyes. mclaren sacrificed the other contenders race for this. Lando with 0 competition the whole last leg, team orders, Mclaren psychologically destroying his teammate and in a rocketship still only won by 2 points. am I supposed to be impressed by this?

anyway, the WDC seems like a Mickey Mouse award now that Lando’s won it. It’ll regain legitimacy next year

the podium chaos in qatar really drove something home for me: celebrating the constructors’ win without oscar in singapore wasn’t just bad - it was horrible, and ofc we all knew that but everyone moved on from it way too quickly.

here’s why:

in singapore: mclaren explained that oscar couldn’t be on the podium with the rest of the team and his teammate because he had mandatory media duties, and they supposedly couldn’t pull him out or postpone them for even a few minutes.

in qatar: suddenly, mclaren can delay media. shutting themselves inside the garage to get their lies right while also the british driver gets filmed sprinting god knows where instead of going straight to the media pen

it was never about what they ‘couldn’t’ do but about what they didn’t choose to do. are y’all crying yet or what? 👍🏻

Oscar Piastri we REALLY are gonna have to bomb mclaren.

I don’t want to hear one person saying that Piastri is being whiny or ungrateful for saying he is “speechless” after pulling p2 in Qatar. He should be angry. He literally did not put a SINGLE foot wrong all weekend. Fastest in FP, sprint pole, sprint win, gp pole, perfect start & restart, was asked for a 1.24 put out a 1.22 on hards.

The win was his, he deserved it. Yeah I know “if if if” but whatever. Andrea Stella admitted that they didn’t pit under the safety car because it would disadvantage Norris. Norris could afford not to podium today and Piastri needed that win. Stella even admitted that Piastri deserved the win.

It’s ridiculous. Papaya rules has never been about fairness or equality between drivers it’s always been about playing the team game until they secure the constructors then undercutting a certain driver to favour the other who in my honest opinion??? today was NOT the better driver. Piastri proved himself today with pace and overtaking whereas Norris, sure he had a solid drive, but he lost two positions on the opening lap and had a lucky late overtake on Antonelli because Antonelli made a mistake.

This weekend was Piastri’s by a mile, and simply put? the team cost him it. All season he’s been fighting not only every other driver on the grid, but his own team too.

TLDR; fck Mclaren. Fck papaya rules. I’m rightfully pissed and Piastri should be too.

And yeah, I still believe in P1astri. Whatever happens in Abu Dhabi, he’s my WDC.

every time i think i've calmed down i remember that he was the fastest in free practice, got sprint pole, won the sprint, got pole, broke track records, didn't put a foot wrong, genuinely drove a flawless race, he was DOMINATING, no one even came close to him this weekend, the win should've been his and yet...

in another universe, the stars have aligned for oscar piastri. in this universe, there is a team that has their head in the game, that refuses the gamble when the stakes are too high. in this universe, oscar piastri continues his mythical form, delivers a race pace sanctioned by the god of speed himself. bags himself another grand slam, too. why not? it is within reach, after all. in this universe, he is one step closer to glory.

but here we are. high risk, no return. compromise wins, again and again.

and yet. and yet.

purple sectors after purple sectors. fastest laps for nearly the entirety of the race. smooth, clean overtakes. a maneuver described as "vintage piastri" for a driver who, compared to his rivals, has literally just gotten here. oscar piastri delivers. he is still a fucking beast. only in his third year, he has driven a monstrous, ravenous drive. he is driving at a caliber beyond those racing alongside him.

do not let mclaren's dogshit calls let you forget the daunting drive oscar piastri has shown. everyone should be terrified. he is young. he is fast, and he will get faster.

he has just fucking started. watch him.

i want people to remember that he led this championship for six months. in his first ever title fight. in his third season. outperforming his teammate with twice as much experience and a 4x world champion. i won't let anyone forget that. he was driving so well, so flawlessly, that when he made a mistake people thought it wasn't really him driving the car. it couldn't have been. that's not Oscar, right?

because that's the level he's reached already: the kind of performance, consistency and excellence that made people question whether he's human or not. that a mistake seemed impossible. a glitch in the universe.

this is the driver that pulled off an overtake that was deemed physically impossible by his engineers. he already broke records and wrote his name in the history books. no one can take that away from him.

this is only the beginning of his career, he has so much to prove still, so much want and hunger. this season he showed just a flash of what he's capable of and what he will become.

i've said this before and i'll say it again: Oscar Piastri becoming a Formula 1 World Champion is not a matter of if, but when.

and everyone on that grid knows it.

Oscar needed that win at all cost. Lando could afford being off the podium. They literally did not give a single fuck about Oscar championship the entire race it's clear as DAY. "We won't prioritise a driver untill they are mathematically out of contention" EMPTY WORDS. LIES.

Something that really stuck with me from the podcast was how Oscar said he can't win this championship alone and needs his team, and also mentioning how Monza was a factor in how he felt in Baku. Likely he realized this during that weekend. Imagine sitting in that car and hearing that same team you rely so much on completely disregard your championship and guilt trip you about events that aren't even your fault from a fucking year ago. For me it was how easy it was for them to ask that of Oscar without giving a single thought about his championship. In his radio he even asked them why they were going back on things they'd already agreed on. Having to make a decision in 10 seconds realising you can't win either way must have been pretty fucking hard to comprehend

If according to them penalties are part of racing and they can't even bother to fight for it because it would take away the benefit for the other car so why couldn't Oscar benefit from Lando's slow stop? Why did he have to pay with his dignity? Why did they dangle Hungary which he already felt guilty for as a way to get him to submit? I wouldn't blame Oscar for thinking this team didn't care about him in that moment. Because they're making it really hard to make it seem like they do when this is the constant norm.
