Its that wonderful time of year again; that time when the networks choose what pilots to possibly pick up for the fall television season. Its an exciting time- will my new favorite show be among the new crop on offer? Looking at the prospects this year, its unlikely. Working with the article from Entertainment Weekly, I'm just going to pick a handful from each networks' pilots that I think will make it.
NCIS: New Orleans. I don't like CBS dramas, but they are the most popular shows on network television. This will be a hit, I'm sure.
Battle Creek. I like the premise of this show- how do you keep order with no resources? I like Kal Penn too. I just don't think I'll be into this show.
How I Met Your Dad. I am definitely not recovered from the finale of HIMYM. That being said, I don't think CBS is trying to replace the show, but put a spin on something that was successful. I like Greta Gerwig, and some of the other cast members who have been announced are pretty good. So I'm optimistic about this.
Save the Date. Good cast. Funny premise. I'll tune in.
The Odd Couple. I don't think this is a show that needs to be remade. However, Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon make this something that I will absolutely watch. Plus, it will be successful because CBS's main demographic will be nostalgic and watch after NCIS.
An American Education. This may surprise those who know me, but I have not watched the British version of this show. If it does get picked up, though, I will fix that flaw. That being said, I love Jack Whitehall. He is hilarious and adorable, and I'll watch this show for him.
Galavant. I am skeptical of a comedy when the premise sounds like the setup for a drama. I still like the idea, so I'll go with it.
Untitled Jeff Lowell. I like the idea of an internal monologue show. That always makes for the best comedy.
Dangerous Liasons. Interesting casting choices, but I will trade this for Revenge next season.
Forever. I like the idea of this, especially if they take the opportunity to do historic-based flashbacks.
Sea of Fire. This sort of sounds like an adult version of Pretty Little Liars. It could be a decent show.
Untitled Tina Fey/Robert Carlock Project. Those are the only words I need to hear to watch this. But there's more! Ellie Kemper is the lead. I am psyched for this already.
Ellen More or Less. I like the idea of this show. And while I haven't seen the lead actress, with Chris Diamantopoulos attached, it should be funny.
Two to Go. This is a show premise I can relate to, being the only single person out with my coupled-up friends. With good writing, this will be funny.
Odyssey. Its not my thing, but this sounds like it could be the next Blacklist for NBC.
State of Affairs. This sounds like NBC's answer to Scandal. If its clever enough, I just might watch.
Mysteries of Laura. Debra Messing does dramedy very well. The rest of the cast is good too, so if its good enough, I might actually stick with it.
A number of Fox pilots have already been picked up to series. Mulaney has been one I've been watching out for since last year. Weird Loners is a new show with a great cast that sounds like something I will like. Now for the rest.
Sober Companion. Great comedic actors. Funny idea. Could be good.
Gotham. Its a sort of Batman prequel. The cast gets better and better with each announcement. Its not really my thing, but it will be a big success.
Hieroglyph. I fell in love with history when I first learned about Ancient Egypt. I considered being an Egyptologist for a bit. So yes, I will be SO into this show.
The Flash. With the success of Arrow, I feel confident that this show might work on The CW. Or it could tank. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
Identity. The premise is quite interesting. I might actually check it out. I am more likely to give up on CW shows than other networks' shows, so I might tune in for a few episodes. I'll have to wait for the trailer.
Supernatural: Bloodlines. I have no doubt this will be picked up. I never watched Supernatural, but people like it, so this should be something for that fanbase to look forward to.
As you can see, I have some pretty strong opinions of TV. I watch so many shows, and if I can't put that knowledge to use when it comes to pilot season, when can I? We'll see how accurate I was at the upfronts next month, as well as trailers for the shows that have been picked up. Keep your fingers crossed for #sixseasonsandamovie!!
