I’ve been playing around with this idea for a while, but after reading ‘Natsuki Subaru's Bad Day’ I think I want to try it. :D
Okay so picture this. Everyone gets sent back in time after witnessing the monstrosity of RBD. Everyone is rightfully freaked out about this. BUT some of the characters brought back are acting more unhinged then usual.
After some hijinks, close calls and embarrassing spells we find out that most of the cast have been replaced by their ‘what if’ counterparts. So, while you have those in the canon camp who want to restrict/pull Subaru from the jaws of dangers.
Their AU’s are - well…
Emilia (Greed): Subaru NEEDS to stay her line-of-sight - day or night it doesn’t matter. Now that she does of RBD she won’t let a single person lay a finger on HER Subaru. The first one who does is going to get turned into a popsicle.
Rem (Sloth): Still see’s Subaru as her husband and after learning of her darling’s terrible truth she dots on him constantly and cuddles next to him in bed every night to make him feel better! :P
Ram (Wrath): That person is a threat - hmph of course she always knew that. Killing him won’t work so instead she’ll stick to him like glue so he doesn’t try to destroy the world. This time Ram will make sure her dear Ram stays safe and that scum gets what he deserves. (Pan to Ram giving Subaru a lap pillow when he’s feeling down)
Elsa (Pride) Can be seen casually teaching Subaru swordplay, making dolls with him and her sister Meili and being a persistent presence in the boy’s life. At times it almost looks like she has a crush on him, but that would be crazy…right?
Shaula (Gluttony): Acts as her master’s personal maid and will drop an entire building on anyone who so much looks at him funny.
Petra (Sacrifice if) Petra, a little girl, has become a world-ending threat on the same tier of Satella. Know one knows how this happened or why she’s so attached to this tracksuit wearing bum.
I thought about an if where Subaru is taken by the Anastasia camp and it all just angst
Anastasia(who actually ecdina here but I will say Anastasia for my sake) starts her relationship with Subaru basically saying it trade he can get freedoms and she gets him to work for her(aka slavery) once she finds out Subaru can wirte Japanese she gets him to translate hoshin texts Subaru who now see Anastasia as a mother figure is trying his hardest to get her approve but all Anastasia does is say good job dear(she doing it like that and throws him back to his cell which doesn't have any windows and like on light bulb I guess he does have a bed and some clothes but no one actually helping him taking care of himself so he has to make his bed and take his clothes to be cleaned aloned and any maid ignores him before there scared
He does make friends with Mimi who acting as his older sister and basically made him a part of the group of the triplets but her brothers often ask her to not include him but eventually they warm up to him and Mimi teachs him how to make his own bed and clean his clothes stuff like that to help him
Julius wants to make friends with him but him being an arcbisphes and him being forgotten makes it so he avoids Subaru add to that he doesn't want to be seen as a witch cultist because Subaru who claims to be forgotten was seen as one so why not him so he ends up acting as he doesn't like Subaru and he trys to convince himself it right because that's pride!(You can use this for the main fanfic now that I think about it)
And finally Ricardo doesn't do much with Subaru Anastasia told him to watch out so he doesn't try to get close or do anything with him
I'm salivating at the angst in this. So delicious. ~
Just to add, but Subaru does eventually worm his way into the Anastasia/Echidna's good graces. But the pragmatic side of her wants to throw the brat into the meat grinder, while her other half starts to feel something similar to how she views Anastasia as a daughter.
BUT if were making this thing juicier then Echidna learns of RBD and tries to train Kid Baru to use it more effectively.
It goes as poorly as you might expect.
This might be deserving of a one shot ngl. Hmmm. :)

Bordeaux and Miklotov are back at the very beginning of the Royal Selection, literally as they walk to their seats. Just by looking at each other, they understand the situation.
But they're the Odd Couple of politics, so they have opposing approaches to trying to help Subaru.
When Subaru interrupts the presentation, they both interrogate him about his relationship with Emilia and what he's done for her. He reveals that he helped her recover her insignia, fought and survived a battle against the assassin Elsa Granheirt with only a stomach wound, indirectly discovered the fifth candidate, and, alongside the oni maid Rem, defended the village of Arlam from a horde of wolgrams, receiving so many curses that even Marcos curses, wondering, "HOW THE HELL IS THIS KID STILL ALIVE?!" Even Julius and the knights are somewhat embarrassed by his accomplishments.
Bordeaux takes every opportunity to portray Emilia as incompetent and useless, unable to survive without someone under her care risking their life. He even tells her she should get rid of the useless Puck and find spirits who can actually assist her in combat. He no longer hates her for being a half-elf, even with her possible kinship with Satella, but he currently considers her useless and believes her character development can take place far from Subaru.
Miklotov is more measured in his disappointment with Emilia, but he highlights her and Subaru's virtues, even suggesting that Subaru be taken on as a knight apprentice under Marcos's guidance to unlock his full potential and educate him to behave better in high society.
Each time the other finishes speaking, they exchange sidelong glances, saying, "Oh, you think you're helping, don't you? You'll see!" Everyone is somewhat frightened by their behavior; Subaru interprets it as sexual tension.
Bwhahahaha! That's amazing. Holy cow!
Best part would be Emilia locking in and actually taking her own character development into her own hands for once and perhaps asking for personal tutelage in governing. Maybe from Crusch/Anastasia (cause y'all know Roswaal's bum ass is completely useless in that department)
Subaru learns the in's and out's of being a knight. Marcos puts the kid through the wringer, but admires the kids tenacity and 'never give up attitude.' Subaru begins to look up to Marcos like a mentor.
Because he's learning to be a knight Subaru is expected to go out on patrol. None of the other knights think he'll last long out there by himself.
....Skip to a couple hours later Subaru has the entire slum district singing him praises as he address their concerns with the patience of a saint.
Cat out the bag idea: Otto goes back in time everyone thinks he insane or went insane because of his dp
Because this man came out of nowhere kidnapped Subaru and started to treat him like his own kid and left a note explaining where all the witch cult people are rem is his natural enemy and he hates her and rem hates him too because he won't let her get Subaru Kun back! It becomes a gay fanfic with Subaru and Otto failing in love and rem ends up doing the Wedding
Weeelllll! There was that one scene where Subaru was hogtied and blind folded! Now we got this crazy merchant who talks to animals kidnapping this loud mouth kid who only days ago badmouthed the entire government.
Emilia gets the other candidates to help her find Subaru - she feels guilty about that fight they had days ago and now this happens! She needs to get him back or she'll never forgive herself!
Some are more helpful then others; like Felt and Reinhard who know Subaru personally and are obviously worried about safety. While those like -Julius answer Emilia's call due to their own complicated feelings of the boy.
Meanwhile Rem is on the prowl and is hunting Otto- snatch your man, down like a bloodhound. Lol
Juliemila fic BUT with the add on twist that Nao and Kenichi have woken up as Emilia and Julius respectively and have to navigate the tumultuous positions they're in now.
A few sparks notes:
Nao and Kenichi are transported to Lugunica six months before Subaru’s arrival in Lugunica.
Nao and Kenichi actually died years apart from the other from old age and for a while are under the impression that the other is permanently gone as well. :(
The couple recall a bit about the bodies their inhabiting, but otherwise are just winging it and making stuff up as they go along.
Emilianao treats Ram and Rem like her own children and has taken to pampering them aggressively whenever she can.
Beatrice gets the worst of it as Emilianao has gotten to the habit of inviting the village children to the manor to play with Beatrice so she isn’t cooped up all day in her library.
Because she has no recollection of her past trauma Emilianao is able to fully utilize her magic and is objectively one of the strongest people in the manor. The first time she casts a spell she accidently destroys Roswaal’s entire office by mistake. Heh, whoops!
The day Subaru arrives in Lugunica Emilianao immediately recognizes him and burst into tears. Subaru is stuck consoling this random woman he just met for the next half hour who won’t stop clinging to him no matter what he does.
Emilianao tries to tell Subaru the truth, a few times, but is constantly interrupted half-way. Eventually she opts to eventually work up the courage. In the meantime, Nao feels like she’s on cloud nine. Her son is here and he’s exactly the way she remembers him! This is going to be so exciting. She’s going to spoil him a ton and will make him a large tub of mayo and cuddle up with him close and -!
Subaru see’s Emilianao’s affection as her having a crush on her and Nao’s air-headiness’s stops her from seeing that Subaru’s fallen completely in love with her. What?
Over at the Anastasia camp Julinichi has turned the entire place upside down.
Julius is more active than he was before and drags everyone into his shenaningans. Julinichi plays and roughhouses with the Pearlbaton’s. Becomes drinking buddies with Ricardo and becomes more of a mentor to Joshua and pushes him to be more forward with his wants.
Julinichi treats Anastasia like she’s a little kid instead of a grown ass woman and is the only one able to rile her up enough to drop the shrewd business woman persona she’s cultivated over the years.
It’s not all bad though. Ana DOES like that Julius has loosened up a bit more and has become more politically savvy.
When Julinichi sees Subaru again for the first time in forever he’s so overcome with raw emotion that he hugs him unprompted and Julius kisses this random boy on the cheek in public.
Well guess the cat's out of the bag idea: Heinkel He shows up as normal in arc 5 but instead of being an asshole he is instead sober, clean and has got his shit together. He shows up and tries to be a good father, to the confusion/terror of everyone.
Subaru doesn't know how bad Heinkel was so he is buddy buddy with him, once again causing mental damage to everyone.
Heinkel shows up and doesn't outright throw a slur at Emilia. Lmao
But yeah Subaru's POV is that Heinkel is an incredible man that reminds him a lot of his own dad. He's a loving father to Reinhard, respectful to Wilhelm and a godsend when the Witch Cult attack Priestella.
Subaru: Heinkel is an AMAZING guy!
Everyone else: Who the F is this?!

I have a question when Subaru is taken to the pleiades tower is there any restrictions set on him either magical or physical and how does meili feel about it?
He's going to wear a slave collar. It's as bad as it sounds. :(
Okay I feel the need for angst so since Subaru is arc 6 is going to end up abusing rbd I imagine he will start acting a lot like a sin arcbisphe added the fact he talking with Roy and lye and Louis a lot and seems to try and save them he will probably pick up ok there habits and Subaru might end up being very controlling which is something possible remember during arc 8 kid Subaru would force everyone to stay alive
So imagine Emilia sees this and thinks Subaru is going to end up as an arcbisphes who thinks he in the right but is just awful and a monster(greed does act as if he was completely right in everything he did and capella didn't care much of thinks it just fair though not sure on capella) so she has two options here either wait until Subaru does something bad or kill him before he becames the monster he was after all subaru was once as am arcbisphes and people do see them as always will end up evil in there eyes
So the idea being here killing subaru painlessly and allowing him to die with no sins aka preventing him from sinning and dieing as a child who did nothing worng is sadly the best thing Subaru has from Emilia pov
(you could use the idea kid Subaru sees satella as a good person or thinks Emilia is the witch to push Emilia more if you want to the idea being that satella has her claws deep in Subaru and he is simply going to turn evil singe he can always meet satella in his head)
So while Subaru is talking to her just like an arcbisphes maybe having a speech similar to lye or greed Emilia trys to kill him fast painless while crying and he rbd because of that or you could do the idea I have that more angsty where Subaru uses greed to stay alive(he still bleeding because the attack is still in him)
And starts crying asking her what he did wrong saying things like I will kill Anastasia if she using you or I can get gltunnoy to eat Julius if he doing something because of Anastasia only to start asking if it him if it because he a failure while Emilia is unable to put him out of his misery not even looking at him out of guilt while Subaru thinks it because of her disgust at him only for Emilia to finally end him and he rbd
(you can make it so the check point is just right before subaru is attacked to make Emilia remember)
The Emilia camp needs to sin more in my opinion arc 6 everyone involved neededs needs to be taken off the potential guardian list
That is so EVIL (Blow a kiss) I like it. I was thinking of a few things that Emilia could do there and having her try to mercy kill Subaru is - well it's definitely going into the overall story. Lol

So basically Cinderella - but the PLOT TWIST is if the Stepsisters and Stepmom weren't utter garbage people and actually smothered the poor girl with affections instead! How come this is the first time I'm seeing something like this! AGGGGHHHH!!!
LMAO downside is that the sisters are perpetually stuck looking like Villainess's which makes for some...interesting moments. Pffft!
The more I think of the idea of amnesia rem or rem herself as Subaru mom the more I like it like Subaru being transported as a kid and having to eventually run away with rem would basically be sloth if but the dynamic would be so different would Subaru fall to trying to be rem sons? After all she is a single mother basically for him in this sloth if so he might feel a powerful need to be as perfect as possible to simply be the son she deserves
And rem here who basically lost Everything she had would she completely just let her entire identify become being Subaru mom it kinda ironic they have the same trauma and they basically try and do the same respond trying to be what they think the other person will be happy with the most and the worst part both roles play into each other way too much I do believe such a relationship can be called unhealthy well that's just makes it more fun
I think the codependency with both these characters would be a car wreck happening in slow-motion. Sure on paper it's fine. From everyone's else's perspective Rem is a single mother whose working her butt off to provide for her only child and is doing an awesome job at it despite her circumstances. And Subaru isn't a problem child, in fact he's quite sweet and charismatic and easily makes friends with everyone he meets and is always helping his mom out on her errands. Their a kind family. Only issue is that their carrying their own baggage. Rem had to confront the reality that the Subaru she LOVED is gone forever and the people she thought were her friends were responsible for that. How do you even come to terms with something like that?!!!!
Now to keep from sinking into despair Rem channels everything into being the perfect mother - and because of what happened to the old Subaru while she was incapacitated Rem's overprotectiveness has kicked into overdrive. Baru is always in Rem's sight, from when she drops him off at school and she makes sure to pick him up on the dot each day to holding onto his hands whenever they leave the house. Rem can't let Subaru out of her grip. She just can't-!
Subaru isn't any better. Because what happened in the tower went REALLY bad - his self-esteem is shot and Subaru now thinks he's unlovable. Which is why he's determined to make sure that Rem doesn't abandon him.
Baru does whatever he's told to and never complains or talks-back or misbehaves or disobeys his mother. He makes sure to get good grades, clean his room and even learns to cook and clean and tries to go above and beyond for Rem. Subaru secretly loves Rem's clinginess - because it's evidence that she went throw him away yet!
I just realized lye has a lot of common with Subaru in the arcbisphe of pride can't be this cute because he implied to have been abused something Subaru did feel with Felix and Anastasia with the whip marks on him and he does hate merchants probably because he was a slave something subaru is now basically I think lye if he were to find out about Subaru situation might genuinely end up trying to eat him(like oh we are so similar onisan wonder how you taste or something) or save him added to that lye has rem memories all gltunnoys do meaning he does feel love for Subaru as shown with Louis so he can end up trying to save Subaru added to that it been shown that even if Subaru memories are eaten in canon they just stay with him but the gltunnoys still get the memories sooo if Louis eats Subaru and get his memory of being abused lye would most likely end up going to try and free him from the contract he has with Anastasia and since he has Subaru memories he knows what to do and what not to do

I was going to save this, but screw it. When things at the tower go to hell Subaru actually does become chummy with Baru. They bond fairly quickly and Subaru thinks Lye is the most reasonable of the Gluttonies to deal with. At one avenue Subaru begs Lye to eat Anastasia to free himself from their contract. Which he DOES! But that leads to bigger issues there lmao!
Seeing the new ep of s4 makes me fear for kid Subaru the poor child is most likely getting eaten alive..bro only hope is ram here and we'll she most likely just going to be the one to kill him actually how would the miasmas effect kid Subaru I doubt he would just be the same as adult Subaru him starting to be way too clam and acting a bit like the arcbisphes specifically sloth and just laughing rams death as something fixable would be very scary now that I think about it
